365 Days To Love-Chapter 109 - ONE HUNDRED AND NINE:Making James Happy Is All That Matters.
"What exactly is wrong?"Mrs.Brown walked in, to still see James on the same call for the past two hours after hearing some news about his friend.
Not that she didn’t want to bother about it, since she doesn’t know this friend of his that made him have this kind of reaction,but she got curious because of the level of love he had for his so-called friend.
He had missed breakfast and had ordered no one should intrude on his privacy and locked himself in his office,excluding her but she didn’t want to sound so nosy that’s why she left him all long.
But coming inside his office to still see him on the call, made her know that sometime was wrong and it affected both Mary.
Because she too didn’t come down for breakfast,after the clash between them,Mary has surprisingly cooled down a bit but she knew that it wouldn’t be long before she gets back to being the bratty princess she once was.
She had earlier asked Zoey of her whereabouts,only to hear that she locked herself up in her room after watching the news this morning.
She wasn’t someone who loved watching the television that much or giving the internet much attention,but after what happened to her twenty four years ago,she had no option but to love the internet due to her enemy’s face being in it twenty four seven.
Now,after hearing from Zoey and seeing James, curiosity got the best of her to ask James what exactly was going on,if she had to live with them,she needed to know exactly what was going on in their mind.
"Babe,you are here"James finally dropped his phone,after hours of his non ending conversation before smiling at Isabella who knew that his smile was forced,he’s unhappy she figured it out.
"What exactly is going on? You skipped breakfast and have been on call since morning"She asked worriedly,it must be something important which they both hold dear to each other since both father and daughter seem worried.
Perhaps it affected his business?
"Was it about your business,is everything okay?"She asked, coming closer to him,but the only thing he did instead of assuring her that everything was fine,was to pull her into sitting on his lap and kiss her neck.
"Ja..mes"she stuttered,her body feeling hot all of a sudden.
"Do you know how hot you look when you’re worried? I’m lucky to find such a rare gem like you,where have you been all my life?’’He asked further, making her face go crimson red from embarrassment.
"Stop it already,we aren’t teenagers"she bellowed, shying away from his sweet endearments,he’s such a sweet talker.
"But i feel like one whenever am with you,I just can’t help it when I’m with you,I’m serious Bella"He said on a serious note,which she got the meaning out of his words and stood up from his lap immediately.
"I just wanted to know how you are feeling,I haven’t seen the news but you seem worried"she said, averting her gaze from his while staring into blank space,her heart beating loudly at his declaration.
She knew how wrong it was for what she did.James has been her everything back then in Paris,he made her what she is today but still she didn’t know why she feels bad whenever she’s this close to him.
Every single time she tried to act and pretend that she was fine in James’ embrace, and doing the right thing,his face would always show up,that monster’s face would always appear.
It was just as if his face was etched on her mind and every being of her body, because twenty four years wasn’t enough to forget his face and that of his family members.
She had early come to a conclusion, that it was because she’s keen about her revenge on him that’s why he’s always on her mind every time,but she’s no fool to know that it was not about that.
She feels grateful for what James did,but aside from anything, he’s nothing but a friend in as much as he’s claiming that they were perfect for each other,which she knew,but still there’s still something else holding her back.
Something else which she doesn’t want to acknowledge is the truth,call her a bitch for what she’s doing but she can’t help it.
James knew that too and has always respected her decision while adding a promise to wait for her,even if it has to take eternity to do so.
Which is what makes her feel like a bad person whenever they were together, because she doesn’t know if truly she would accept him.
She’s afraid of admitting the truth that years of staying with him has not changed her mind towards accepting his proposal,but rather made her more confused over her feelings.
"I’m sorry if i made you worried",His voice made her jerk out of the trance she was, forgetting so soon that she was here with him all the time.
Looking at him,she saw the disappointed look on his face and felt bad,it was because of her.
She’s been nothing but a disappointment to everyone,which she doesn’t want to be again, especially not James,he’s the only one who had been there for him so it made her feel bad.
Taking a bold step at her decision,she walked up to him and engulfed him in a hug, surprising him, because he wasn’t expecting it from her.
"Am sorry"she apologized lightly"I’m sorry for being the most difficult woman to understand and please in these few years..."
"Bella stop!"He cooed, breaking away from the hug. He doesn’t want her feeling this way, because it won’t be long before she starts crying.
She’s not a strong woman as she claims to be,she’s fragile and doesn’t like the idea of people she loved getting hurt,that’s why she was apologizing to him because he knew how hurt he was towards her attitude,but still he couldn’t help it if he saw her crying,that’s why he wants to make her stop before she starts crying.
"No, you need to listen,"She insisted.
"I don’t want to listen to you apologize when you did nothing wrong, remember i said i can wait Bella,so stop..."He said but was cut short by her declaration which he’s sure he didn’t hear well.
"I’m willing to try"She whispered,her face facing the ground because she was too shy to look into his which was about to glint in merriment.
"What?"He asked, not hearing her previous words.
"I’m ready to give us a chance James"she finally said this time looking into his eyes,before his face lightened up and pulled her into a bone crushing hug.
"Thank you Bella,you don’t know what this means to me"He said cheerfully, kissing her hair while she had him too.
She didn’t want to think of anything else,apart from this which she was feeling,she likes James and doesn’t want to make him feel bad,that’s all that matters.
To hell with what her mind thinks otherwise,James meant alot to her than to care about the possibility of him showing up in her life if he finds out she was back in the country.
"I promise to make you the happiest woman alive Bella,I love you"He said breaking the hug to confess to her face,he saw the hesitancy in hers while she tried to find what words to say at his confession.
"I.."She tried talking but the words didn’t come out,it felt as if something constricted in her vocal chords,making it impossible to tell James what he wanted to hear from her.
"It’s alright,we still have time to build on that. ’’He said, cupping her face to give a light kiss on her lips,while she nodded at his understanding.
Making James happy is all that matters.
Suddenly they heard the sound of something grumbling,it felt as if ...
Turning to look at James’ stomach which made a rumbling sound at that moment,he looked up at her.
"That’s definitely not me doing that"He said bursting out into laughter as she joined him too.
He looked cute when happy.
She commented as James laughed forgetting about his bad morning earlier, which she forgot to ask or rather he didn’t want to tell her,but she was really curious to know.
"What exactly is it about the news that warrants you and your daughter locking yourselves away in your rooms?"
"Mary did what?"He asked when he finally remembered he had a daughter.
"She didn’t have breakfast like her father,so what’s the news about?"
"A friend of mine has an issue,a really bad one at that,someone committed murder inwhich it got released to the press before he could investigate properly about it"He said sighing when he remembered how restless,Ezekiel sounded on the phone after his dad’s line didn’t connect when he called.
"That’s so gruesome,did he lose someone special?"Mrs.Brown asked,feeling bad about this new information.
"Not really,only a guard but his daughter in-law was threatened"
"Gosh,that sounds serious"
"Yeah but everything is being taken care of, because he has his son’s wedding date relaesed,to help die down the rumour about the murder" 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"Okay,I hope they find out who exactly the murderer is before things gets complicated"
"Yeah,"James said, scratching his head,not knowing how to bring up this sudden news which she might not like.
"What is it?"she asked while seeing his uneasy state."I will have lunch sent up for you"
"It’s not that,we actually got invited to the wedding which is actually holding next week"
"And how is that a problem?We are just going to the wedding"
"We are talking about the wedding ceremony of the Knights Empire Bella ’’He said and that was when she finally understood what he meant.
"Seriously,I didn’t know you were actually talking about them,it’s been a long time since i saw Avery,do you think she might recognize me?"She asked,thinking of what reaction would be on her face once she sees her.
"You don’t get it do you?"
"Get what?"She asked, confused.
"He will be there"He uttered, sighing at her clumsiness.
"Who?"Still confused while looking at him,not knowing that whatever he was about to say would have her clenching her fist in anger.
