365 Days of Rejected Proposal: CEO's Rebellious Pet-Chapter 164: He Lied to Her Again
Zinnia Lawrence blinked; she realized that Jenson Forrest was truly cunning and sly.
He never explicitly brought up the idea of calling off the divorce, yet somehow he managed to trap her into it.
Who does things like he does!
She puffed up her cheeks, "You think too much! The things you’ve done to upset me are endless. I’m only deciding to stay temporarily for Coco’s sake and because your injury is somehow connected to me!
I’m not that easy to coax; at best, you’re just an apprentice husband right now!"
"Apprentice husband?" Jenson raised an eyebrow.
Zinnia nodded, "Don’t get it? Just like an intern at Stellar, there’s less than a month left in your internship. If you perform up to standard, I’ll see then. But if you fail to satisfy me during your internship, President Forrest should be quite familiar with the process, right?"
Jenson, "..."
Seeing his silence, Zinnia squinted her eyes, "Do you have an opinion?"
Jenson tutted, "Then may I ask Mrs. Forrest, what are the criteria for my internship? What standards do I have to meet to pass, since it’s my first time being an intern, could the boss please give me more guidance?"
The man’s deep phoenix eyes held a teasing smile, letting her mess around.
Zinnia’s heart skipped a beat, filled with a sweet sensation.
Her cheeks blushed slightly as she extended a finger. "The internship criteria are simple, just one! And that is... make, me, happy!"
Jenson nodded, "Since it’s an internship, could the boss issue my offer?"
Zinnia was taken aback.
"What offer?"
Jenson slipped his right hand into the pocket of his hospital gown, and after a moment, he extended his hand, palm open.
In the man’s palm lay a men’s diamond ring.
It was their wedding ring.
Zinnia’s gaze fixed on that ring, her mouth slightly open in surprise, a sweet and sour feeling bubbling up in her heart.
She looked up at him, "Didn’t you throw away the wedding ring?"
That day, in the car, he clearly threw the wedding ring out of the car window in front of her.
How is it still here?
Jenson brought the ring to Zinnia, "Didn’t throw it."
Turns out she was tricked by him again!
Did he have any idea how hurtful it was for her to watch him discard the wedding ring?
Zinnia’s eyes grew warm, hesitating to make a move.
Jenson urged, "Didn’t you say you want me to be an apprentice husband? Even an apprentice husband is still a husband, can’t be without an offer, right? Come on, put it on me."
Zinnia finally picked up the wedding ring, took the man’s hand, and put the ring back on him.
Jenson looked at it with satisfaction, "Issuing an offer is a two-way choice. Your ring is at Sovereign Court, put it on later as well."
Zinnia, "..."
He’s a qualified capitalist.
While she was speechless, the man suddenly flipped her over in an embrace.
He pressed her down on the hospital bed.
Zinnia’s head sank into the soft pillow, her long hair scattered in the man’s large palm, Jenson’s thin lips lightly landed on her forehead, brows, brushing past the corner of her eyes, the tip of her nose, and down to the edge of her red lips.
His breath was slightly heavy, and he lingered over her lips, but did not go deeper, the mingling breaths light and soft, tickling, making one nervous with anticipation, yet squirming with a heart-fluttering itch.
Zinnia’s eyelashes quivered lightly, as she heard him ask with a soft smile against her lips.
"Little boss, do you like kissing you like this? Does it make you happy?"
Zinnia felt as if she was setting unspoken rules for an intern.
She didn’t know he was so playful; they had never flirted like this before.
In this moment, Zinnia admitted she was pure and inexperienced, unable to withstand his teasing, her heart melting.
Her eyes were filled with affection, too shy to speak, she only raised a hand to wrap around Jenson’s neck, slightly lifting her head to open her lips, silently inviting him.
Jenson’s breath immediately became erratic, his large hand gripping the back of Zinnia’s head tightened slightly, slowly deepening the kiss.
The next evening.
Zinnia personally prepared two dinner sets and brought them to the hospital.
She first visited Eighth, opening the fun meal she prepared for the child.
There were little yellow duck corn cakes, rice shaped like bunnies covered with a tomato-egg blanket, quail eggs and cherry tomatoes shaped like mushrooms, and rice ball watermelons...
"Wow! So delicious! Seventh Sister, you’re so skillful, no offense, but my brother really doesn’t deserve you!
As a man all he has is money and looks, really nothing else to offer, yummy yummy, love you most Seventh Sister..."
The child ate heartily, not forgetting to routinely criticize his brother.
Who told his brother to always make Seventh Sister sad.
Zinnia wiped the corner of the child’s mouth with a tissue, shaking her head in amusement.
As a man, having money and looks is enough to attract women.
She really didn’t know if the child was dissing his brother or praising him.
She stood up, "Take your time eating, I won’t be staying with you."
Eighth pouted, "Favoring him over me, go ahead, go ahead."
Zinnia ruffled his hair and walked out.
She reached the door, turned around, and unexpectedly bumped into Katherine Rhodes.
Zinnia paused, only nodding briefly to Katherine.
She had promised Katherine to neatly divorce and leave, and now she was going back on her word; Katherine likely had thoughts and dissatisfaction.
Zinnia didn’t want to invite ridicule.
As she was about to walk past Katherine, Katherine spoke with displeasure.
"What? Now that you’re pregnant with the Forrest’s golden grandchild, your mouth’s precious too, can’t even address your mother-in-law?"
Zinnia had to stop, she wasn’t unable to address her, just didn’t know how to.
"I thought you wouldn’t want me to call you mom anymore..."
Zinnia expected Katherine with her usual attitude to be sarcastic.
But unexpectedly Katherine only frowned slightly, then said.
"Since you’re carrying Jenson’s child and have decided to live well together, I naturally will still be your mother-in-law, a ’mom’, and I will respond."
Zinnia pursed her lips, not wanting to make things too tense, and said.
"Mom."
Katherine nodded, "With a child, just take care of the child, keeping the baby healthy and delivering soon is the most important thing for Eighth! Don’t do anything else, what if you affect the pregnancy?"
Saying this, was rare kindness from Katherine.
Yet Zinnia found it extremely uncomfortable.
She frowned slightly, "Coco is my and Third Brother’s child, of course, I will take good care, but the things I want to do, I will still do! I know what to do and what not to do, no need to worry yourself."
Zinnia nodded and walked away.
Katherine’s expression was not pleasant as she looked back at Zinnia’s departing figure.
"Really getting more sharp-tongued!"
Granny Ward advised: "Mrs. Forrest, the baby in the young mistress’s belly, its umbilical cord blood can surely save Eighth Young Master, heaven has a way of doing this, you can be at ease."
Katherine suppressed her temper and instructed.
"Make sure to ask the doctor what she should eat during pregnancy to benefit the growth of the umbilical cord and placenta, so that there isn’t too little umbilical cord blood when the time comes!"
Her words seemed to treat the baby in Zinnia’s belly as a blood supply, with little warmth.
Granny Ward quickly nodded, "Okay, Mrs. Forrest."
Zinnia carried the food container to the elevator, but it wouldn’t come, so she headed to the safety exit since Jenson’s room was just downstairs.
She pushed the door open, took a few steps, and overheard two people smoking and chatting in the staircase.
"Ryder went on a date during his vacation a few days ago, how did it go?"
"No luck; Ryder wouldn’t be attracted to ordinary women."
"True, if Ryder hadn’t been on vacation, could Third Young Master easily get hurt by Claire?"
"That’s the strange part about it, that woman followed Third Young Master for days before attacking, and Ryder was just on break when it happened.
Third Young Master is even more skilled than Ryder; even if Ryder wasn’t there, that woman shouldn’t have been able to hurt him."
