Chapter 93: Kiss Me Ethan

Ethan resisted the urge to encircle her in his arms because of her evasive expression. Gritting his teeth, he spat out each word with domineering authority, "Lily, come over here and kiss me!"

Did this man really need to be so overbearing?

Lily pressed her bleeding fingertip and looked up at Ethan with seriousness. "Why did you let them beat you today?"

Don’t tell her it was out of respect for his father—she wasn’t buying it.

Surprised by her sudden question, a flicker of confusion flashed across Ethan’s eyes. He quickly turned his head, his tone awkward and arrogant. "None of your business!"

"Because Dr. Joel is in your father’s hands," she responded to him when he didn’t answer. "You wanted to save Dr. Joel’s life, but you, Ethan Blackwood, don’t normally value other people’s lives that much."

Ethan’s face showed a trace of embarrassment at being exposed. Irritated, he cut her off, "Why are you so chatty today? What exactly do you want to say?!"

As if he didn’t already know what she was trying to say.

Lily stood up from her chair, staring straight at him thoughtfully. "You let your father’s men beat you because you wanted Dr. Joel to treat me. From the start, you came to Denmark for my illness. Even though you knew your father might not spare you, you still brought me here.

"Enough!" Ethan roared again.

What was wrong with this woman today?

Chattering on and on, driving him mad!

Yes, he risked coming to Europe for her—so what?

"You did all of this for me." Lily stood by his bedside, her clear eyes framing her worn-out and tired face. Her soft lips parted slowly as she asked, "Ethan, do you like me? Or... have you fallen in love with me?!"

She asked directly.

No beating around the bush.

Ethan hadn’t expected the usually quiet Lily to ask such a blunt question. For a moment, he was stunned.

His heart suddenly raced.

After a brief pause, Ethan raised his chin slightly, looking down at her with arrogant pride. "What about you, Lily?"

She must be madly in love with him.

Women only risk themselves like that for the men they care about...

Even though he hated the way she had intervened as if mocking his ability as a man to protect her.

But when she rushed out, a strange feeling stirred in his chest.

What about you, Lily?

Why didn’t he just deny it? Why didn’t he immediately say he hadn’t fallen for her?

Could the fact that he asked her that question mean, in a roundabout way, that he was admitting his feelings?

"I don’t love you, Ethan." Lily lowered her eyes, then looked back into his, speaking earnestly. "So... don’t fall in love with me."

Don’t fall in love with me...

She couldn’t return his love.

All for her, his father had beaten him and even broke three of his ribs.

But she didn’t want to accept his kindness or ask him to do anything else for her.

This kind of affection... she couldn’t bear it.

Hearing her words, Ethan leaned against the headboard, his dark eyes fixed on her. His face was expressionless, and he didn’t say a word.

She doesn’t love him, she doesn’t love him...

Was that all she had to say?!

Ethan remained silent, staring at her...

Time seemed to stand still.

The air felt suffocating.

"I’m going to wash my hands." Lily, unsettled by his unblinking gaze, lowered her eyes and turned toward the bathroom, pressing her wounded finger.

The sound of running water filled the sink, washing over her wound.

The icy coldness pierced through her heart...

"Lily!"

Suddenly, Ethan’s voice boomed behind her.

Lily’s body trembled as she slowly turned around. Ethan was standing in the bathroom doorway, glaring at her intently. He had already pulled the IV needle from his hand, his voice filled with domineering authority as he shouted, "Lily! What do you mean by that?!"

Had he gone mad?!

He had three broken ribs, and he was still getting out of bed?! Did he think his body was made of steel?

Lily frowned and stepped forward to push his arm, guiding him back to bed. "What are you doing out of bed? You’ve broken ribs, don’t you know that?"

"I don’t care!" Ethan barked angrily, abruptly pulling her into his arms with force. The pain in his chest worsened, but he gritted his teeth through it. His voice became hoarse, but he continued to shout with unreasonable dominance, "Lily! Who else could you love but me?!"

I love Alex Carter.

Not you, never you.

So... don’t fall in love with her because there’s no future... she couldn’t respond to his feelings.

"Ethan, stop this. You’re injured," Lily said softly, lowering her eyes as she tried to pry his arms off her. She didn’t dare use too much force, worried she might aggravate his injuries.

Three broken ribs were no joke.

She didn’t want him to get hurt again... that would only make her feel like it was all her fault. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"Lily!" Ethan refused to let go, hugging her tightly, clinging to her like a stubborn child. He barked at her with that same domineering tone, "Say you love me!"

Why was he always so overbearing, never giving anyone space?

Is this how you force someone to love you?

How could she not have known that love worked this way—just say the words, and it would happen?

Even if she said it, what would change? Nothing... they would still be trapped in this exact situation.

They were nothing more than a benefactor and his mistress.

She had never planned on staying by his side forever... One day, she would leave. She didn’t want him to keep sacrificing for her.

She didn’t want him to get hurt because of her.

"Ethan, stop this, okay?" Lily’s voice was as light as a breeze.

"Say it!"

Did he really have to be so forceful?

Didn’t he understand that being overbearing wouldn’t change anything... that a woman’s heart wouldn’t change just because of force...

"Ethan, even if I say it a hundred times, it won’t matter. I don’t love you—do you understand?"

As soon as the words left her mouth, Ethan grabbed her shoulders and spun her around, tilting her chin up to press a fierce kiss against her lips, leaving no room for escape.

His scorching tongue invaded her mouth, claiming everything without hesitation, while one hand slipped under her sweater, grabbing her breast.

"Mmm..."

Lily frowned but didn’t dare struggle, afraid of hurting him.

Ethan, however, seemed oblivious to the pain. His hands roamed brazenly over her body, his lips devouring hers with relentless intensity.

The heat between them reached its peak.

Lily stepped back until her back hit the bathroom doorframe, with nowhere to retreat.

His hands were pushing her sweater upwards. Ethan’s touch grew more aggressive as he explored her body beneath her clothes, his kisses falling relentlessly on her face, radiating an undeniable heat.

How did it always come to this?

Every time, their conversations never seemed to conclude properly... They always ended this way...

Not wanting to hurt him, Lily chose to remain still, closing her eyes as he ignited flames across her body with his teasing touches.

His lips briefly brushed over her closed eyelids before capturing her lips again, his tongue sweeping inside her mouth. His hand moved over her body, touching and kneading every sensitive spot.

"Mm..." Lily couldn’t hold back a soft moan as his hand grazed a susceptible spot.

"Lily, your body is far more honest than your mouth." Ethan’s anger finally dissipated after seeing her flushed face as she responded to his touch. He smirked, his hand still cupping her breast, squeezing provocatively. "Your body tells me that you love me."

Was his idea of love merely physical desire?

"Ethan, enough... Mm... You need to lie down..." Another wave of sensation interrupted Lily’s sentence as he again touched her tender spot, almost making her cry out.

This man... even while injured, he couldn’t behave.

How could he never forget his animalistic desires?

It must be an inherited trait.

"Not enough..." Ethan cut her off, lowering his head to kiss her again, silencing her protests. His teeth gently nibbled at her lips, prying them open, his fiery tongue once again invading to claim everything.

The kiss was passionate, so intense it made her heart race.

Lily kept her eyes tightly shut, trying to suppress any sounds.

Seeing her resistance, Ethan kissed her even more fiercely, his tongue exploring every inch of her mouth.

Unable to resist him, she leaned against the doorframe, allowing him to take control. His deliberate teasing left her breathless, soft moans escaping her lips...

"Sorry..."

A soft, apologetic voice suddenly echoed, interrupting Ethan’s kiss.

"Damn it!" At the sound of someone else’s voice, Ethan immediately pulled away from Lily’s lips, cursing under his breath. He quickly let go of her, pulling down her sweater to cover her exposed skin, then shot a furious glare toward the source of the interruption.

Lily also turned her head and saw a nurse, groggy from sleep, standing there apologetically. "Sorry... I just came to wash my face."

Lily’s face flushed with embarrassment. She reached out, intending to slap Ethan, but thought better of it, remembering his injuries.

Ethan glared at the nurse with a look that could kill him.

"Sorry... sorry..." The nurse stammered, backing away in fear, not daring to mention rewashing her face.

"Why are you scaring her?" Lily tugged on his arm. "Go back to bed."

Hadn’t he noticed other people in the room before kissing her?

And now he had the nerve to glare at someone else...

Only then did Ethan reluctantly return to the bed, laying down again as Lily adjusted the bed.

Suddenly, Ethan grabbed her hand. Lily looked at him in confusion, and he smirked mischievously, pointing to his collarbone. "Go to sleep."

Why was he pointing to his collarbone?

"Oh."

Lily pulled her hand away and turned around, only to see the nurse approaching her with a bandage. "Please," she said.

Lily thanked her, took the bandage, and applied it to her wound.

The nurse gave her a strange look before quietly turning away...

Lily’s face burned red again under that gaze.

Damn, Ethan... acting like that in front of others. This nurse will be giving me weird looks for the rest of my stay here.

Lily walked into the bathroom, planning to wash her face before going to bed—only to glimpse herself in the mirror and notice the bright, glaring hickey above her collarbone.

That bastard!

He can’t go two sentences without turning into a wild animal!

Now she’d have to wear high-necked clothes again...

She must not have slept well for two days straight because as soon as Lily lay in the guest room bed, she fell into a deep sleep.

She dreamed of playing in the garden with Alex when they were children. She had splashed water on herself, and Alex had rushed over to protect her, spreading his arms wide to shield her from the water.
