10x Rewards: Becoming Invincible With My Sign-in System-Chapter 264: Welcome
The mansion currently housed many powerhouses, so Aegon had some Rune Formations deactivated. One of them restricted teleportation inside it, since he knew some people would use it to come there.
But there was no need for it. Even if someone tried to sneak in, Samuel was sitting with them. With a powerhouse like him, there was no need to worry.
That was why Aegon wasn’t surprised to see a portal opening in his courtyard, especially since the warmth exuded gave him a good idea of the person using it.
Soon, two sets of legs stepped out as Aegon saw the familiar face of his best friend grinning at him. Seeing him, the blue-haired young man threw his hands up and came towards him for a big hug.
"You know I’m not giving it, right?" Aegon said, standing up.
"As if I’m asking for it," Xavier scoffed and enveloped him in a tight hug. "It’s mine by right."
"Not anymore," Elara spoke from his side. "It’s mine now."
"Come on, El," Xavier cried out as he separated from him and gave her a hug too. "See? I’m not a possessive person like you, so share your boyfriend with us."
"Can’t!" Elara chuckled and patted his back. "Welcome back. We missed you."
"Really?" Xavier’s eyes brightened up. "I knew it! You guys can’t live without me."
"More like, our group lacked an idiot to balance our high intelligence," Aegon said, before pulling him away from Elara. "And keep your filthy hands away from her."
"What kind of welcome is this, man?" Xavier groaned. "I expected so much more, like you creating massive fireworks to welco—"
Before he could even finish his words, the Twilight sky turned even more colourful as many fireworks rose and exploded in beautiful explosions.
Xavier’s mouth hung open in disbelief.
"Told you, we wanted an idiot," Aegon said, looking up at the fireworks. "Only an idiot like you would like this welcome."
"I love it!" Xavier exclaimed. "This is so goddamn good."
Aegon exchanged glances with Cali and Luna, who both just shook their heads, but still smiled. It was a plan of theirs since they knew their little brother very well, and then Aegon prepared for it.
It was a small thing, but he knew Xavier would like it.
"Seriously, who is younger among us?" Aegon shook his head. "It was their idea though."
As Xavier jumped towards his sisters in excitement, Aegon turned towards Xiu, who had stood up in shock by then. Her honey-brown eyes locked onto the man who brought Xavier here.
"He’s... different."
That was Aegon’s first thought after seeing Michael, the First Prince of the Great Solar Empire.
He was a tall man with broad shoulders, having his long red hair braided to let his handsome face show to the world. His face held a strange tranquility that Aegon had become familiar with after spending time with Kai.
But there was some difference between them. While Kai’s calmness came from his meditation and made him prefer that state, for Michael it seemed to be his very nature.
Unlike his father, who carried oppressive, majestic might, Michael held a calm warmth which relaxed people around him. It made them want to approach him and soothe their hearts.
Aegon was genuinely surprised to see him. If it wasn’t for his bright golden eyes, he would have doubted his relationship with Samuel.
"What are you doing here, boy?" Samuel asked, narrowing his eyes.
"The same as you, Father," Michael replied calmly. "Aegon invited me, so I came. Especially since my student urged me for it. I can’t reject my dear disciple’s plea, can I?"
Samuel grunted and turned towards Aegon. "Do you really have to invite him?"
"Of course, old man. He’s Xavier’s mentor, so I ought to show him my gratitude. Also, he’s your son," Aegon rolled his eyes.
"Oh, sometimes I wish I could forget it," Samuel sighed.
"You want to forget you’re an Emperor too," Aegon smiled. "Clearly ain’t working."
Samuel shook his head and said to Michael, "Did you handle the aftermath?"
"I’m late because of it. You should have warned me beforehand," Michael sighed, as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Everyone was freaking out thinking the demons launched a sneak attack."
"Blame her," Samuel gestured towards Xiu. "I’m pretty sure she did something to the Songsword Family, otherwise they wouldn’t have gone all out."
It was only then Michael looked at Xiu and their eyes met. For a moment, neither reacted as they simply stared at each other, as if savouring the moment they met after more than a decade.
Xiu snapped out of it and said, "Come with me."
Then, without waiting for him, she marched off inside the mansion while others just silently stared at her.
"You haven’t changed one bit," Michael muttered under his breath before sighing and following her inside.
Samuel narrowed his eyes at Aegon. "You did it intentionally?"
"Maybe. Maybe not." Aegon rubbed his chin and smiled. "But I know I have things to work on."
"I’m too old for this," Samuel sighed as he leaned back and closed his eyes. "Just wake me up when you’re showing your thing. I need some rest."
Aegon shrugged and went to sit beside Liliana, who just observed everything quietly. Looking at her, he said, "I think I made a mess."
"By inviting both Art and Mike," Liliana took a drink from the side table and said.
Aegon hummed.
"Don’t worry about her," Liliana said, a hint of a smile forming on her lips. "If anything, her brother should be worried since she’s going to nag and annoy him a lot."
"You didn’t mention the First Prince."
"Because he’s one of the only people in this world capable enough to handle Xiu’s stubborn nature," Liliana said, taking a sip. "Nice drink. What is it?"
Aegon tasted the drink and replied after a moment of thought, "I don’t know the name, but it’s from the northern regions. Xiu made it once, saying the fruits grow on top of mountain peaks."
"She probably went there herself. Crazy girl," Liliana shook her head and took another sip. "But crazy winds like her meet tall, stable mountains in their journey. They fail to do anything to them, so they get annoyed. That’s how their relationship starts."
Aegon smiled upon hearing her and swallowed the whole drink in one go.
"I’ll begin my presentation shortly then. Almost everyone is here already. Be ready for it."
Liliana shrugged lightly. "Small matters."
"Gon, where are Rosa and Aunt Lia?" Xavier shouted from his seat.
"They’re busy, so they can’t make it. Same for your parents," Aegon replied, standing up. "Sometimes I forget our group includes adults too, so they got responsibilities."
"Was that a jab at me?" Samuel threw an apple at him.
Aegon easily caught it and smiled. "How can that be? We got other adults who are useless here."
Amon, who had been silently staring at the various lamps, adjusted his monocle and asked, "Do you want to wear a monocle, Aegon? It would look good on you."
A shudder ran through Aegon’s body as he backed away and said, "Why are you so creepy, old man? Also, no. I would much rather leak the Amon files."
Samuel laughed at that, as even Kai held back his laughter while Amon just flashed his creepy smile at him. "I believe we have a pact between us."
Giving a thumbs up, Aegon said, "Yes! So stay away from me."
"Gon! Come here! We got something to ask you!"
"Coming!"
