My Tribrid System: More than a Monster
Chapter 264: Annoying Surveillance
Chapter 262
Four spiders converged on the Tribrid within a single second.
They wasted no time in darting toward him, their sharp scythes flying straight for the Aspirant.
However, he didn’t fret.
All he did was simply vault high into the air with the tactical use of his VMS gear.
Mid-air, he de-equipped his gauntlets, and almost immediately—
[Lunar Claws Activated]
His hands shifted into razor-sharp claws as he kicked the air and bolted back down toward the now-confused spiders, who were frantically scanning the area to see where he had disappeared to.
Crashing into their midst, he wasted no time in slashing toward the first spider.
But instinct saved the creature; it lifted a defensive scythe, intercepting the lethal strike from Ray.
A second beast appeared from behind him, executing a vicious stab toward his back.
The next second, a spherical barrier of light appeared around him, completely absorbing the impact from the slash that had been heading for his exposed frame.
The barrier held long enough for Ray to push the spider in front of him away, then spin around like a broken arrow and land a powerful roundhouse kick that sent the rear spider flying clean off the building with a thunderous bang.
The building shook for a second from the immense kick he had dealt the spider, but it surprisingly held, even though it was heavily fronted with glass.
Well, the rooftop wasn’t totally made out of glass, though.
That was one down, three more to go.
Bounding backward, he avoided a scythe that crashed into his earlier position, ripping that spot open and causing a deep hole to appear in the rooftop.
The second spider charged toward him with rapid velocity; within a few seconds, it was already before the Aspirant with a sweeping upward slash.
Ray twisted his body around, allowing the scythe to rush past him harmlessly.
Cocking his hand backward, he swung it forward and bashed it into the beast’s side with all his might.
The ground cracked massively, with deep fissures snaking all across the place for a moment while the beast was sent sliding away.
That opening was long enough for Ray to glance up and see a drone hovering directly over his position.
He frowned.
’Are you being serious right now? Is this the right time to keep an eye on me? How am I supposed to go all out when you want to be limiting me with your prying eyes?’
Luckily, he had heard the drone coming from meters away, allowing him to deactivate his claws and re-equip his gauntlets just in time.
Regardless, the spiders weren’t about to give him the time to loathe the control tower for keeping an eye on him.
They pounced toward him as a swift slash toward his side was made by one of the spiders.
Leaping backward allowed the Tribrid to dodge this.
Fluidly spinning around, he avoided another slash, then lifted his leg high above his head.
It felt like his leg stretched beyond its usual limits for a moment as it went into the air like a flexible bamboo pole.
Hovering above his head, he swung the limb back down with maximum speed.
BAM—! BANG—!
The leg slammed into the head of one of the spiders with such crushing force that the beast staggered, lost all ability to move, and smashed violently into the ground.
The force of the kick was enough to shatter right through the solid rooftop, and the beast was sent hurtling downward while heavy debris rained down on top of it.
Before he could follow after it, Ray leaped into the air, hovering above the gap for a split second as he looked down at the hole he had created, watching the spider’s body crash through several lower levels uncontrollably.
No doubt, it would be completely buried in tons of debris from the impact.
Within a few seconds, he heard the sweet, familiar chime of his system.
[You have defeat....]
Whirling around, he landed back down on a solid spot on the rooftop while the remaining spiders lunged at him again.
He cast a brief glance at the drone hovering above him, stubbornly refusing to leave.
It was at that exact moment that his perception flared, and he spun around to catch sight of a beast charging toward his best friend.
Knowing he wouldn’t be able to reach that position on time even if he tried, he quickly placed his finger on the communication bud while the remaining beasts closed in on him.
"Van! Incoming! I repeat—a beast is charging your way now!"
The warning came at a cost, however.
One of the razor-sharp scythes crashed into his side with heavy force.
Though the blade was unable to pierce his skin due to his exceptionally high endurance, the impact still stung sharply.
The Tribrid was sent skidding backward across the rooftop for a second, while the other beast dashed toward him, its mandibles clicking rapidly in anticipation.
It leaped into the air with its maw wide open, ready to tear a chunk of his flesh away.
Lifting his hands in a flash, Ray snatched the snapping mandibles right out of the air, completely halting the spider’s forward momentum.
Digging his feet firmly into the ground, the concrete beneath him cracked heavily under the pressure as he forced the massive spider back down with a fierce scowl on his face.
He didn’t even need to look.
His sensory skills told him the other beast was already charging his way with rapid velocity.
The spider currently in his grasp flailed wildly, desperate to break free from his hold, but unfortunately for the creature, he maintained an iron grip on its frame.
He hoisted the heavy spider completely off the ground just as its talons and scythes shot toward his chest with deadly speed.
Unhesitatingly, he swung the entire beast downward with all his might.
WAM—! BANG—! BOOOM—!
The structural roof cracked violently for a split second, followed immediately by a loud explosion as the barrier shattered completely.
The structural collapse gave way, sending Ray and the two remaining beasts free-falling through the air while glass fragments and heavy debris rained down from every corner of the skyscraper.
Lifting his gaze upward amid the chaos, he smirked.
The prying drone was nowhere in view.
’Time to test this baby out.’
[Holy Blast Orb Activated]
A brilliant, blinding light manifested around Ray’s hand as he pointed it directly toward the spiders hurtling toward him with immense fury.
The energy coalesced rapidly into a fist-sized orb constructed from pure, ethereal light, shimmering with a deadly, radiant glow.
"Bye."
BOOOOM—!
