My Tribrid System: More than a Monster
Chapter 237: Berserk Mode
Chapter 235
Dust billowed into the air, the entire cavern floor trembling as if a localized earthquake had just erupted.
The violent tremors sent loose stones tumbling from the ceiling, adding to the chaotic fog of debris.
Just as quickly as the dust had surged, it cleared in much the same fashion, revealing Bruce being flung away from the beast’s massive form.
Before the werewolf could be propelled too far, a jagged ice pole protruded from the ground directly in his path.
Reacting with predatory reflexes, Bruce grabbed hold of the frozen pillar to halt his unintended flight.
In one fluid movement, he yanked the ice pole from the stone and hurled it with monstrous strength toward the Minotaur, which was only just beginning to regain its footing.
Crash—!
The ice pole shattered spectacularly against the monster’s chest.
Sharp shards of ice slashed through its hide, drawing thin trickles of dark blood.
The beast staggered backward, its movements sluggish due to the lingering disorientation from the earlier earth-shattering slam.
Bruce smirked, his fangs glinting in the dim light. ’Guess I was right...’
Van’s eyes narrowed immediately, his analytical mind catching sight of a subtle shift in the battlefield.
He was unsure at first, so he chose to remain silent and continue observing the exchange.
Swoosh—! Swoosh—!
Two jagged arcs of obsidian energy rushed forward from the shadows.
The Minotaur attempted to twirl away, but the intervention was too late.
The energy lines slammed into its snout, tearing deep, agonizing grooves into the flesh and drawing more ichor.
The sheer force of the impact sent the beast tottering backward once more.
Felix immediately rushed forward like a bat out of hell, his speed nearly blurring his silhouette.
Vaulting high off the ground, his claws glinted under the luminescence of the crystals embedded in the ceiling.
He descended upon the monster with a savage slash.
Tilting its head to the side, the beast narrowly avoided the primary strike before countering with a desperate swing of its mace.
Felix fluidly leaped away, bringing his hands together in a resounding clap.
In a flash of displaced air, Bruce materialized in his position.
The elder werewolf’s right hand coiled backward before slamming into the beast’s battered snout with thunderous force.
The impact was so severe it threatened to break the bone, sending another spray of black ichor into the air.
The Minotaur went tumbling backward, struggling to find its center.
Bruce’s predatory smile widened, radiating a cold confidence.
"What happened? Growing slower? You can’t use your ability again?"
Booom—!
The werewolf exploded from his stance, giving chase to the retreating monster.
He lashed out with his claws from above, a descending strike meant to pin the beast.
This forced the Minotaur to hammer its mace into the ground, using the weapon as an anchor to dart to the side just as Bruce’s claws ripped through the earth where it had stood a microsecond prior.
"Getting tired? Aw... you shouldn’t be, because we are just getting started!" Felix bellowed, appearing from the flank and forcing the Minotaur to whip its head around.
The young werewolf already had his leg raised high above his head.
Bam—!
He hammered his heel onto the Minotaur’s skull in a powerful descending kick that ruptured the stone beneath the beast’s knees.
However, the monster wasn’t driven into the ground as Felix had expected.
Instead, it swung its mace with crushing speed toward the boy.
Vaulting backward and using the beast’s head as a temporary trampoline, Felix avoided the crushing blow in the nick of time.
Simultaneously, Bruce closed the distance in a flash.
He swung his leg from below, kicking the mace into the air and roughly yanking the weapon from the Minotaur’s desperate grip.
In one smooth motion, Bruce hauled his hands through the air, sending a flurry of claw slashes into the beast’s already battered frame, forcing the creature to slide backward on its knees.
Landing with a heavy huff, Bruce gripped his chest for a moment.
He could feel his muscles tightening painfully, his veins pulsing as if they were about to split under the strain of the transformation.
’Crap. I’m reaching the limits? Hey boy, how much energy do we have left?’
[Energy: 50/170]
«Not much.»
’Then we just have to finish things n—’
Bruce paused mid-thought.
So did everyone else in the cavern.
The Minotaur could be seen rising to its full, menacing height.
Blood oozed from the numerous wounds dealt to it by the humans, staining its fur a dark, matted color.
Its mace was missing, lodged into the ground several meters away.
Its lightning ability appeared depleted, yet a new, more sinister aura was beginning to wash off its body, spreading through the cavern like an encroaching mist.
The beast’s remaining eye began to glow with a terrifying, crimson light.
Caster’s eyes widened in sheer horror as he recognized the signs.
"Hey, hey, hey! Deal with that beast now!" Caster screamed, his voice cracking with panic.
"It’s about to enter into a berserker mode, and if it does, it will all be over for us! Hurry!"
Hearing the genuine terror filling the air, Bruce and Felix exchanged a brief, swift glance.
"GO! I need to gather strength. At the right time, use it!" Bruce ordered, his voice a low growl.
Bang—!
Felix didn’t waste a single moment.
He rushed forward with blazing speed, crossing the distance in the blink of an eye.
This forced the beast onto the defensive as Felix began to swing his claws with rapid, desperate intensity.
His movement had now delved into erratic-like.
Up, down, side, side.
He was swinging continuously while the Minotaur continued dodging and deflecting with his massive hand.
The speed the duo showed was impressive.
While this was going on, Bruce remained standing. Right hand bulging to the absolute limit almost looking as huge as two human thighs together.
Veins protruded from his arm like thick electrical cables.
His fur was shredding. Veins bursting out of his arm with blood spilling. The ground cracked as he leaned forward— toes pressing on the ground and cracking it the more.
The beast was now beginning to undergo visible changes.
Swinging his hands sharply, a dozen claw slashes burst forward swiftly forcing the beast to pause his changes for a second to duck and then dart forward with overwhelming speed.
His massive fist rushing towards Felix.
"NOW!" Bruce yelled.
Clap—!
Felix vanished from view in time as the Minotaur’s fist shattered against the air.
Vibrations rippled through the air shaking the earth beneath the beast’s feet.
Instantaneously, Bruce appeared before the beast with a pained, sinister expression on his face.
"Later."
BAM! BOOOM!
The werewolf slammed his fist directly into the hollow where his eye was before Trish destroyed it.
Tchaaak!
The fist drove into the small hollow widening it further than it should have with blood flying in the air.
Crack—! Crack!
Bruce’s right arm was already cracking under the pressure.
The Minotaur’s eye widened in pain as horror as the werewolf’s fist tore through his head while the inertia of the punch sent his body flying across the cavern.
The earth quaked as debris flew into the air while the beast’s broken body shattered against a wall.
Booom!
His half head shattered against the wall while some of the crystals embedded in the wall dealt more damage to it.
Bruce collapsed on his knees, huffing and panting with his right arm destroyed and mangled, the blood vessels burst open.
But a knowing smile rested on his face as he saw the rubbles of the wall half burying the beast underneath it.
Black blood flowed from his head in all directions.
The battle was over! The Minotaur was dead.
