My Scheming Little Devil - Chapter 1193: Why Don’t You Come Back
The two babies were held in her embrace, and upon hearing her cry so sorrowfully, they couldn’t help but shed tears, even though they didn’t understand what mommy was crying about. They were simply infected by her sense of despair, and began to feel uncomfortable.
Mu Bao’er and her child looked at them, unsure of what had happened, exchanging looks filled with worry.
But Ye Lu still had a shred of rationality amidst her overwhelming grief; after crying her heart out, she let Ling Kong take the bewildered children out.
Mu Bao’er sat at the bedside, her eyes full of pity, and sighed.
"Now, can you tell us what happened?"
Ye Lu leaned against the pillow, her gaze hollow, like a soulless puppet, even her breathing felt numb.
"They said..."
Her voice was hoarse and choked up.
"Jun Huang, he... died, he’s dead."
The word "dead" weighed a ton, laboriously squeezed out from her throat, as she mumbled disconsolately, the last traces of light in her eyes fading away.
Mu Bao’er was so shocked that she nearly jumped up, staring at her in disbelief, her breath catching in her lungs.
After a long while, she finally gripped her hand tightly, asking urgently.
"Where did you get this news from, and how reliable is it?"
"Feiyu told me, he wouldn’t lie to me."
If it was someone else, she wouldn’t believe it, but Feiyu? He wouldn’t dare to tell her something like this without being absolutely sure.
So, he really is dead.
Ye Lu came to this realization and tears streamed down her face.
She still remembered that day in the torrential rain when they parted, her intense feeling of unease.
She kissed him frantically, crying as she told him, that no matter life or death, she would wait for him to come back.
Little did she expect, everything would become true, a prophecy fulfilled.
He really did die.
"You lied to me... Didn’t you say, you would definitely come back? Why didn’t you come back? You lied to me." She cried her heart out, feeling as though a thousand arrows had pierced her heart, the agony unbearable.
Jun Huang, why won’t you come back, why leave me behind like this.
Come back, without you, I’m sure I’ll go mad.
The two of us vowed to always be together, how can one live forever alone?
Ye Lu clung to the blanket, recalling their past, her body convulsing in sobs, her tears soaking the blanket, incessantly coughing and retching.
Mu Bao’er, seeing her in such pain, could very well understand that feeling of heartbreaking desperation, the despair of the abyss.
Because she had been through it herself; when she watched the tiny body of Ling Kong being wheeled out, her entire world collapsed, knowing there’s nothing more heart-wrenching than losing a loved one.
But it’s precisely because she experienced such things that she must be rational.
Moreover, Ye Lu was pregnant, such a blow was deadly, no matter what, she should be consoled and given hope.
"Don’t be sad just yet, while the subordinate’s information sounds reliable, there are many miracles in this world, he might not really be dead."
Ye Lu held the blanket numbly, her face deathly still, showing no reaction.
"Ye Lu, I know what you’re feeling, back then, I watched Ling Kong’s dead body, touched his heart which had no more beats, and I despaired, thinking he was dead. My husband was shot by my father and fell into the river, I thought he died too."
Mu Bao’er reminisced the past, her eyes moistened, holding her hand firmly, showing a warm smile.
"But look, aren’t they both still here now, still alive? You haven’t seen it with your own eyes, so you can’t give up hope, yet if you give up that last glimmer of hope, perhaps even if he is alive, he will end up dying."
