My Harem of Dangerous and Crazy Women as a Reincarnated Necromancer - Chapter 115: Dealing with Slave Traders
The man, feeling the shadow, slowly raised his head.
His eyes, red and full of a terror he no longer tried to hide, met Mark’s as he looked down at him from above.
Mark studied him for a couple of seconds without saying anything, until he finally spoke.
"Hey dude, do you mind if we have a little chat?" Mark asked with a half smile.
"..."
"From what I heard from one of my subordinates," Mark said, looking down at the officer, "you’re not exactly from around here."
He looked up from the ground with reddened eyes.
"So I’d like to know what brings you so far from home," Mark said, leaning slightly forward.
The officer swallowed and his eyes moved quickly from Mark to Yuki, who was behind him with her dagger still in hand.
"I-I..." he began, his voice trembling at first, but then something shifted in his face.
He clenched his jaw, straightened slightly on his knees, and lifted his chin in a gesture that tried to convey authority but looked ridiculous coming from him.
"I-I don’t have to answer to someone like you," the officer said, a stammer that completely ruined the firm tone he was attempting. "D-do you have any idea who I am? My family is one of the most important in Eldia, and when they find out what you’ve done here they’re going to—"
He couldn’t finish his sentence because Aria’s foot connected directly with his face.
"Don’t disrespect the Master," Aria said, lowering her foot and crossing her arms calmly again. "And answer his questions."
The officer spat blood as his lower lip swelled rapidly.
Mark, somewhat surprised by Aria’s sudden action, laughed under his breath, then heard footsteps approaching from behind.
"What’s going on, Master?" Ely asked.
Mark turned his head slightly toward her.
"Our new friend isn’t being very cooperative," Mark said, gesturing toward the officer who was wiping the blood running from his nose.
Ely then looked down and fixed her gaze on him with an expression that had nothing friendly about it.
"I think I can fix that, Master," Ely said without taking her eyes off the officer.
"Then I’ll leave it in your hands."
Ely nodded and walked toward the officer until she was standing in front of him.
She crouched slightly to get closer to his face.
"You’re going to answer my Master’s questions," Ely said in a threatening voice. "Understood?"
He, with the blood still dripping from his nose, looked at her with eyes that were trying to convey defiance but only conveyed panic.
"G-go to hell..." the officer spat. "I’m not telling you people a thing—"
Ely grabbed him by the wrist, her fingers closing around the officer’s forearm like a vice.
And then she twisted it.
Making the crack of bone breaking through skin clearly audible to everyone present.
"AAAAAAAAAARGH!!!" The man’s scream was so loud that the remaining birds in the nearby trees took flight. "MY ARM!!! MY ARM, YOU CRAZY BITCH!!!"
Ely released him and straightened up.
"You’d better answer," she said, looking down at him with no change in expression. "Unless you want the next thing to crack to be your neck."
The man collapsed forward, clutching his broken arm against his chest with his other hand.
Tears streamed down his face and the snot mixed with the blood from his nose, forming a mess that covered the entire lower half of his face.
"ALRIGHT!!" he cried between sobs. "ALRIGHT, I’LL TALK, I’LL TALK, WHATEVER YOU WANT!!"
Mark crouched slightly.
"I’m listening."
The officer was breathing in short bursts, his broken arm trembling against his chest and his eyes squeezed shut.
"W-we’re here..." he began in a completely broken voice, "to capture... Semi-humans..."
"Capture?"
"A-as slaves..." the officer continued with a sob. "Sex slaves... we capture them and take them back to Eldia to... to sell them... to nobles and other kingdoms."
Mark was quiet for a moment.
And the first thing that came to his mind was the image of the ant-type semi-humans he had encountered during his journey back to the dungeon.
Those enormous things with hard exoskeletons, mandibles that could cut steel, and articulated legs covered in hairs.
"Who the hell would want to fuck with something like that?" Mark said with an expression of disgust. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
The semi-humans he knew were literally monsters in humanoid form, and the mere idea that someone would capture them for sexual purposes was so absurd his brain couldn’t process it.
Aria apparently reached the same conclusion, because she immediately kicked the officer in the face again.
"Stop lying to the Master!" Aria said with indignation as the officer hit the ground from the impact.
"I’M NOT LYING!!" the officer shouted from the ground, spitting blood and what appeared to be a tooth.
Then Ely, who had been standing with her arms crossed watching the interrogation, put on a thoughtful expression.
"Now that he mentions it..." Ely said, bringing a hand to her chin. "He’s probably talking about Demi-humans, Master."
Mark turned his head toward her.
"Don’t you mean semi-humans?"
"No," Ely replied, shaking her head. "While a lot of people lump them together, they’re different things."
"Different how?"
"A semi-human is a monster with a humanoid appearance," Ely explained. "Ant men, spiders with a human torso, stone gargoyles... they vaguely resemble people but they’re still monsters, they don’t think, they don’t speak, they have no culture or society."
"And a Demi-human?"
"Demi-humans are basically a human with physical characteristics that distinguish them from a normal human."
"Like what?"
"Pointed ears, tails, horns, partial scales... depends on the race," Ely said. "Elves are demi-humans, beastmen too, lamias, dragonborn, etc."
"I see..." Mark said, thinking over what he had just heard.
And then what the officer had said before made sense.
Mark looked at the blonde man lying on his side on the ground, crying and clutching his broken arm as the blood soaked through his uniform.
He was about to continue with the questions when he heard a voice from the other side of the camp.
"Master!" Rose shouted from a distant area among the rubble. "Could you come here for a second?! You have to see this!"
