Chapter 790
Chapter 790
Captain Jornaniah, who had just returned from the mission center, told everyone early that morning that their next mission was to abolish a newly created undead camp that was established in what used to be the town of Cinderfell, which was located a few tens of miles to the west.
Anton learned that the coalition kept establishing camps near Nermador, and the wizards were relentless in making sure that those camps were destroyed. Sudarta told Anton that it was because if a team failed in destroying those camps, Nermador would keep sending teams until those undead camps were successfully destroyed.
Sudarta added that the main reason they did not want undead camps near the capital city of Amendora was that the coalition would establish gates on those camps, allowing the armies of undead attacking Nermador to grow into an unimaginable number.
As of right now, the number of undead attacking the walls of Nermador on the western side was just enough for the wizards gathered in the capital city of Amendora not to get overwhelmed. Ishmael added that the balance was precarious and could tilt in favor of the undead anytime.
The mission was straightforward. Their team would travel to the destroyed town of Cinderfell and try to destroy the undead camp there. Then they would plant a Space Destabilizing array to prevent the establishment of gates in that location.
When Anton learned about the Space Destabilizing array, he was alarmed, but immediately calmed down when the Captain, seeing his alarmed face, told him that the wizards from Ormunda and New Drennor had tested established portals from his portal scrolls against the space destabilizing array, and the portal remained unperturbed.
That was also one of the main reasons why Anton’s family bloodline was now considered extremely valuable. The portals from his unique magic were truly powerful. The captain then told Anton that he should be thankful that he had a sister staying in one of the academies in Ormunda because if there were no family member safe behind Ormundan walls, the wizards would certainly not allow him to go galivanting around.
The main issue with their mission was to reach the fallen town of Cinderfell surreptitiously. Mishos, one of his teammates, told him that most team missions failed because they were discovered by the undead while on the way to their mission site, and because of that, those teams encountered unrelenting attacks from elite undead.
The captain and his teammates planned to immediately fly there using individual invisibility spells. The main issue with that was that the undead had created anti-invisibility spells and could detect wizards behind the said spells.
Anton suggested they leave at night so their flight would be covered by his Cloak of Shadow spell. The captain asked Anton to cast the Cloak of Shadow spell to check if it could be penetrated by the True Sight spell made by the undead. Apparently, all the wizards in Nermador had learned the same spell from a captured lich.
While the Cloak of Shadow was active, those who were not included in Anton’s party system had their eyes obscured by the spell. They were all surprised when the True Sight Spell could not pierce Anton’s spell. Sudarta and Aruma theorized that it was because Anton’s Cloak of Shadows spell structure was different from the Invisibility spell.
One great advantage of the Cloak of Shadow was that once everyone was in Anton’s party system, they would all be able to see clearly while the Cloak of Shadow spell was active. Not only that, unlike the Invisibility spell, they could cast spells while they were inside the Cloak of Shadow, and Anton’s spell would not dispel.
They also tested if lights, magical or otherwise, could dispel Cloak of Shadows, and everyone was extremely delighted when the lights did not pierce the spell. The only disadvantage of Anton’s Cloak of Shadow was that it would be highly noticeable when the sun was out, so once they started their journey, they could only do so at night.
Everyone found it a little ironic that they would need to travel at night to hide from the undead.
Since the captain agreed to follow Anton’s advice that they should start their journey later that night under the Cloak of Shadow spell, it meant that they had the entire day to rest or do their own thing before the start of the mission.
Because of that, some of his teammates asked Anton to demonstrate the skills of his eight classes. Anton sighed and agreed, so they all returned to the training field.
Before starting, Anton told his captain and his teammates that his items were geared towards increasing the power of the Sorcerer class spells. The first skills that he demonstrated were the skills of the Barbarian Class.
Aruma and Tamor summoned Earth Elementals to function as Anton’s enemies, and the two elementals were annihilated by Anton’s Barbarian skills. He made sure that his teammates were added to his Diablo Party system so they would feel the effects of the buffs cast by his classes, except, of course, for Aruma and Tamor, since if they were added to the party, their summons would not receive damage from Anton. He was not one hundred percent sure of that, though, since he only tested that mechanic against his summons.
When he told that tidbit to Captain Joraniha, the captain became interested enough to test it out, so Anton added Aruma and Tamor to his system. They discovered then that the mechanic of not being damaged by Anton’s spell would only work on Anton’s summon and the people that was part of his Diablo party system. Unfortunately, his party member summons were not included in that protection.
Anton had an inkling that if his party members also had his Diablo Class, like the ones he gave his father and his sister, their summons would be included in the party mechanic of not being damaged by his Diablo spells.
After that testing, Anton continued demonstrating the skills of his Diablo classes. Thankfully, they let him go after a couple of hours, so for the rest of the day, the captain told them to rest.
Anton went to his room, intending to spend the few hours before their mission starts leveling up his Diablo character, but stopped when he saw Raymond, the family butler, entering the portal beside his wardrobe.
He laughed when Raymond encountered the curtain that was hiding the portal. Raymond was a little pissed off since he presented an undignified posture towards Anton. Raymond complained, thinking that he was being attacked by some sort of ghost, and through that complaint, Anton kept giggling.
“Why did you come?”
“The family spent a huge amount of coins for these pair of simple communication earrings,” Raymond presented a pair of earrings to Anton.
Raymond explained that once the magic on the earrings was activated by mana, the blue gem would turn into red gems, regardless of the distance and dimension. So basically, Anton could summon Raymond to enter the portal through one of the earrings. Once it turned red, the other one would as well, and that could be the signal that would let Raymond know that Anton needed him to enter the portal.
Anton was delighted at how simple and powerful the pair of earrings was, and he praised Raymond extensively for finding such a magical item. The family butler accepted his praise with a nonchalant expression and asked if Anton needed anything more from him. When Anton told him that there was nothing more, the butler returned to the Rose Manor immediately.
