Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 897: I’m Pretty Accommodating
Seraphina Vaughn protested, dissatisfied: "What do you mean it’s unequal? The child won’t be born by you nor raised by you, you can act like it never happened and find a girl you like to marry, isn’t that nice?"
Julian Bishop: "You’re projecting your own thoughts onto others again."
Seraphina Vaughn scoffed, saying: "Don’t act like you’re so responsible, aren’t you hoping to latch onto my family’s wealth and become a freeloader?!"
Hearing Seraphina Vaughn’s words, Julian Bishop couldn’t help but chuckle and asked: "Why do you always see the worst in people? Did something really bad happen in your past relationships?"
Julian Bishop’s question left Seraphina Vaughn, who’s been single since birth, feeling offended: "None of your business!"
"My attitude is already clear. But it seems you haven’t thought it through yet, so you should go back and think it over before contacting me." With that, Julian Bishop stood up once more.
This time, Seraphina Vaughn stood up as well and said to Julian Bishop: "No need. I agree with your point, we can try getting along. But if things don’t go well, you have to agree not to bother me and the child anymore."
Julian Bishop: "Let’s take it one step at a time, finish the first step, and then consider the next."
Seraphina Vaughn: "But we need a deadline, just one week. If it doesn’t work out after a week, you must sign the agreement for me!"
Julian Bishop looked at Seraphina Vaughn for a few seconds, knowing that the timeframe she set was not about wanting to get along, but just to go through the motions and end the process swiftly to clear ties with him.
Though this was a compromise on Seraphina Vaughn’s part, Julian Bishop agreed for now, seeing it as a delay tactic: "Alright, whatever you say."
Seraphina Vaughn was already planning, thinking about where to travel during the week to pass the time, and then return to sign the papers with Julian Bishop.
Unexpectedly, after escorting her to the elevator, Julian Bishop said: "I’ve got a lot of work today, but I’ll finish up quickly to join you for dinner tonight."
Standing in the elevator, Seraphina Vaughn was thoroughly confused and hurriedly stepped out to speak with Julian Bishop: "What do you mean by that? Who said they want to have dinner with you?"
Julian Bishop softly said: "You only gave me a week, so we need to hurry up and get to know each other, right?"
Seraphina Vaughn: "Do you think I’m here for a blind date with you? I’m not having dinner with you."
Julian Bishop: "I notice you’re not very reasonable."
Seraphina Vaughn righteously said: "Yes, I’m unreasonable! That’s why we’re unsuitable for each other; I don’t need a week to know how things will turn out!" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Julian Bishop chuckled, saying: "No worries, I’m pretty accommodating. You go rest first; I’ll contact you when I’m finished."
"Alright, see you tonight." Seraphina Vaughn said with a mischievous smile, jumped into the elevator, pressed the door-close button first, and then hit the button to the first floor.
Hearing Seraphina Vaughn’s sudden change in attitude and immediate agreement, Julian Bishop wasn’t relieved, because he knew Seraphina Vaughn must be up to something.
After seeing her off, Julian Bishop didn’t immediately go to the conference room.
Instead, he returned to his office and picked up the prenatal check report Seraphina Vaughn had forgotten to take with her, staring at it for a long time as if he didn’t want to miss a single word or detail.
Though he and Seraphina Vaughn had no emotional foundation, and the child was an accident, Julian Bishop’s heart was still full of the excitement of becoming a father for the first time.
Except in front of Seraphina Vaughn, he masked this excitement very well.
Recollecting Seraphina Vaughn, with her bold and straightforward nature and quite a temper, she definitely didn’t fit the image of a partner he had in mind.
However, judging from their brief interaction previously, aside from her fiery temper, she was also an assertive and independent woman, which Julian Bishop thought he could accept.
It’s just that Seraphina Vaughn clearly doesn’t want to engage with him, and who knows what tactics she’ll use to face him tonight.
Just as Julian Bishop anticipated, Seraphina Vaughn went home and immediately made plans with a few friends who were readying to travel, promptly bought a plane ticket, and flew to another city for a vacation.
She simply wanted to use up the week.
The travel destination was a coastal city, a place Seraphina Vaughn had visited many times, yet due to its scenic beauty and relaxed pace of life, it always made her feel at ease whenever she came.
In the past, she would go to the local bars at night with friends, but considering her pregnancy, Seraphina Vaughn held back a lot more.
While everyone else went out to have fun, she stayed alone on the hotel’s sea-view terrace, sitting on a reclining chair and enjoying the breeze.
Here the days are long, and nights are short, typically during this season the sky doesn’t darken until eight or nine at night.
Even past seven, the sunset’s glow was still visible, and the ocean breeze felt warm and cozy.
Seraphina Vaughn set down her juice, feeling somewhat triumphant.
Thinking Julian Bishop surely wouldn’t be able to find her.
Although it was past seven, she had yet to receive a call from Julian Bishop.
Clearly, he’s an unreliable man; he mentioned having dinner, yet by past seven he still hadn’t contacted her, probably completely forgot about it.
Luckily, she never believed in this rogue’s sweet talk from the start, otherwise, if she was truly waiting with an empty stomach, Julian Bishop might ridicule her for being foolish.
Seraphina Vaughn took off her sunglasses, changed positions to comfortably lean in the chair, and began swiping through X on her phone.
Under the sunset, the ocean breeze lightly brushed, lying quietly was also a kind of enjoyment.
This sea-view terrace was a communal spot, accessible to guests who booked the hotel’s VIP vista rooms, hence upon hearing footsteps approaching from behind, Seraphina Vaughn didn’t pay attention.
Moreover, she was utterly absorbed in watching the comedic blogger’s video, chuckling alone, completely oblivious to her surroundings.
Until hearing a low male voice coming from above: "Playing with your phone while lying down is bad for your eyes."
Just hearing the voice, Seraphina Vaughn hadn’t yet realized who it was, but as she looked up, noticing Julian Bishop’s face, she was startled sitting up immediately, dropping the cushion in her lap onto the floor.
"How... how did you find me?!"
Julian Bishop stepped forward, bent down to pick up the cushion from the floor, and gently placed it beside the lounger, looking down at Seraphina Vaughn saying: "Didn’t we agree to have dinner together?"
Seraphina Vaughn’s mouth twitched, her mind buzzing.
Still hearing Julian Bishop explaining: "Originally, I could’ve arrived by six, but the flight was delayed, that’s why I arrived late."
Seraphina Vaughn was both surprised and puzzled, spontaneously voicing her thoughts to Julian Bishop: "Are you crazy?"
Julian Bishop wasn’t angered, as if he hadn’t heard Seraphina Vaughn cursing him.
He bent down to pick up the slippers near the lounger and placed them by Seraphina Vaughn’s feet saying: "Come on, let’s go eat."
