Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 893: Quite a Mature Man
Flora Lane corrected, "That’s not how you say it. What if the child’s father is also looking for you guys?"
Seraphina Vaughn didn’t think twice and denied Flora’s notion: "Impossible, he already knows..."
Halfway through her sentence, Seraphina seemed to realize she had let something slip, and Flora seized the moment to say, "Oh, so the one who left without a second thought was our Brother Seraphina!"
Phoebe King laughed and teased, "Could it be that you set this up from the start? Targeted some guy you thought was decent and planned from the beginning to have a child with him?"
Seraphina rolled her eyes: "Only a fool would want to have a child with him."
Audrey Sutton smiled and said, "Listening to Brother Seraphina’s tone, she seems really adverse to that guy. Think back, who among us did Brother Seraphina have a problem with?"
Flora tilted her head in serious contemplation, mumbling her analysis, "Who could she be adverse to? I think Brother Seraphina gets along quite well with Luc and Faye Xavier, always drinking and playing cards together. She’s not adverse to them, so who among us could she dislike?"
Phoebe pretended to be shocked, covering her mouth, and said dramatically, "Could it be a married man? That’s why she dared not tell us until now."
Seraphina rolled her eyes heavenward: "Do I look like that kind of person? Would I betray my best friends like that? Stop guessing, I’m not telling you, and you won’t guess it anyway..."
"Oh!" As soon as Seraphina finished speaking, Phoebe exclaimed, then looked as if she had a sudden realization, saying, "I remember now!"
Audrey and Flora both looked at Phoebe with curiosity, and even Seraphina, who had just stood up, stopped in her tracks.
Then Phoebe said, "Could it really be Old Man Bishop? I recall that during truth or dare, you and Old Man Bishop were always bickering, openly and subtly competing with each other. Audrey just mentioned that the guy was someone Seraphina disliked. Could it be Old Man Bishop?!"
Seraphina: "..."
Audrey and Flora thought it over seriously and found this guess reasonable and plausible, then all three turned their gaze to Seraphina with a hint of curiosity and inquiry.
Seraphina felt her scalp tingling under their gaze, guiltily turning her head away. She turned and headed toward the house, denying Phoebe’s guess, "It’s a pity you guys aren’t scriptwriters!"
Flora quickly got up to pull her back: "Don’t run! With that look in your eyes, Sister Phoebe must’ve guessed right! Is it really that Bishop guy?"
Audrey commented, "Mr. Bishop seems nice, he’s a really stable and reliable guy."
Phoebe added, "Yeah, Old Man Bishop isn’t the trouble-making type, so why would Seraphina dislike him?"
Flora said, "Maybe a lot of things happened between the two of them that we don’t know about! Sit down and confess everything truthfully!"
Seraphina hesitated, lacking confidence in her voice, "Confess what? I don’t even know what you are talking about."
Flora pulled Seraphina back to her original seat: "Don’t play dumb, what kind of friends are we? If you don’t tell us about something like this, aren’t you treating us as sisters?"
Audrey nodded and said, "Exactly, which makes Mr. Bishop seem more likely. Seraphina must be worried that since we all know Mr. Bishop, if she tells us, it might get back to him, which is why she hasn’t been honest with us."
Phoebe patted her chest and said, "Feel free to tell us, we’ll help you analyze it, we are definitely on your side. If the analysis shows there’s no need to tell Old Man Bishop, we’ll absolutely keep it a secret for you."
Seraphina hesitated, glancing at them, which Flora immediately caught onto, saying, "Hesitant! It’s got to be true!"
Every time Seraphina came to chat with them, she couldn’t avoid being asked about this matter; hiding it felt exhausting to her.
Moreover, given the current situation, this matter probably couldn’t be hidden any longer.
Under their gaze, Seraphina took a deep breath and nodded helplessly, admitting, "It’s him. I’m trusting you guys by telling you this, if you betray me, I’ll cut ties!"
Even though they had analyzed and reached that conclusion, hearing Seraphina admit it was still shocking to the three of them.
Audrey closed her mouth, which had fallen open in shock, and asked, "It’s really Mr. Bishop?! When did you two... hook up? When we went out together, it seemed like you guys barely interacted... barely spoke two words..."
Phoebe nodded, affirming her previous assessment: "Old Man Bishop is secretly wild, I thought he was just dull, but he’s quite the player, huh."
Flora pressed, "Was it really that night? When we played truth or dare, and you had too much to drink!"
Seraphina nodded her head, still downcast, "Yes, that night. If I hadn’t drunk too much, how could I have ended up with a guy like him..."
Hearing Seraphina show quite a bit of resentment in every sentence related to Julian Bishop, Audrey couldn’t help but say, "Brother Seraphina, do you have some misunderstanding about Mr. Bishop? He’s not the kind of person you think."
Phoebe nodded in agreement, "I’ve known Old Man Bishop for years, he may be a bit reserved, but he’s really reliable. Everyone was drunk that night, he certainly wouldn’t take advantage of anyone."
Flora chimed in, "I haven’t interacted with him much, but I feel he’s a good guy. When we go out, he’s often working alone in his room, seems really grounded and mature."
Seraphina frowned deeply, exasperated, "You’re all too shallow! You only see the surface; he’s pretending! Everything you said is an act! He’s not a decent person at all!"
Phoebe also furrowed her brow, speculating, "I wonder if Faye Xavier and Luc have tarnished Old Man Bishop’s image?"
Audrey quickly objected, "Faye and Luc might be jerks, but that doesn’t mean being friends with them makes someone a bad guy. My husband is a perfect example. Just because of this, you can’t label Mr. Bishop as guilty. I believe that if Mr. Bishop knew you were pregnant, he’d definitely take responsibility. Truly!"
Seraphina: "I shouldn’t have told you; it seems you’ve all been deceived by his act!"
Flora couldn’t hold back her curiosity, "Brother Seraphina, what exactly did he do to you? To make you dislike him so much, something must’ve happened, right? Tell us."
