Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 880: So He Has a Girlfriend
"Knock knock—"
The sound of knocking brought Scott Sutton’s thoughts back. He thought it was Evelyn Linton, but felt a hint of disappointment upon opening the door to find it was Belle.
"Are you resting? Hope I’m not disturbing."
Scott Sutton shook his head, glanced at the opposite door, and softly asked, "What’s up?"
Belle smiled and said, "Evelyn and I got off work early today. My classmate invited me out for drinks, but Evelyn is feeling a bit unwell. If she needs anything, could you please look after her?"
Scott Sutton nodded first, then asked, "What’s wrong with her?"
He could tell Evelyn Linton was not in great shape during the live stream, but thought she was just using illness as an excuse to end early.
"It’s nothing serious, probably just a cold. She said her throat is uncomfortable, and she’s a bit dizzy. She took some medicine earlier and is asleep now. I’m worried she might feel worse and want to go to the hospital later. I won’t be home, so I’m asking you to keep an eye on her."
"Alright, you go ahead. I’ll watch over her."
Belle gave a joyful nod, "Thanks! I’ll try to be back early."
After Belle left excitedly, Scott Sutton stood by the door, looking at Evelyn’s room.
He was a bit concerned about Evelyn’s condition but thought if he checked on her now, today’s efforts would be for naught.
Since Belle said she was asleep, he’d wait a while and check in when she was likely sleeping.
Not long after he returned to his room, he heard noises outside.
A door opened, followed by faint footsteps heading downstairs.
Belle had gone out, leaving only Evelyn home.
Scott Sutton hesitated, picked up a water cup from the bedside table, and followed downstairs.
The downstairs living room was pitch black, with white light shining from the kitchen.
The kettle was making faint noises along with bubbling sounds before boiling.
Scott Sutton walked softly over, standing by the kitchen door, watching Evelyn stand by the counter with her back to him.
She was wearing the oversized T-shirt nightgown she had recommended during a recent live stream, which made her slender frame look even more empty.
After replying to a message, Evelyn set her phone aside and was about to reach for something, only to suddenly notice Scott Sutton standing by the door.
Seeing someone suddenly behind her, Evelyn shuddered slightly, frozen in place.
Scott Sutton calmly walked into the kitchen, turned on the faucet, and began rinsing his cup, casually asking, "Heard you caught a cold?"
Evelyn turned to glance at Scott Sutton’s back, then walked to the cabinet to grab a spoon, replying dully, "No big deal."
Scott Sutton turned off the faucet, drained his cup, and softly said, "If it’s not feeling unwell, then it might be a bad mood."
Evelyn glanced at him and replied perfunctorily, "Neither."
The kettle beeped, signaling it was done, and Evelyn went over to make herself some cold medicine.
Scott Sutton brought the washed cup over, picked up the kettle Evelyn had just set down, pouring water as he asked, "Then why are you mad at me?"
With her head down, Evelyn stirred her medicine with a spoon without looking up, muttering, "I’m not mad at you. You haven’t upset me."
Scott Sutton’s tone was flat, seemingly devoid of extra emotion, "Then talk to me properly."
Evelyn frowned, looked up at Scott Sutton with slight annoyance, and spoke with increased intensity, "What’s talking properly? Are you just looking for trouble?"
Scott Sutton’s eyes held a smile as he slightly curled his lips, saying, "See, you’re not talking properly now."
Evelyn grabbed her cup and walked out of the kitchen, "Can’t be bothered with you."
Scott Sutton slowly followed with his cup, "You’re not feeling bad about repaying that fifty grand, are you?"
Evelyn paused, snorted lightly, "Why would I feel bad? It’s not my money anyway."
Saying this, she couldn’t help but feel a bit of regret.
After all, it was money that had come into her pocket, only to be taken out again instantly.
She had clenched her teeth while entering the password for the transfer in the morning.
Recalling how Scott Sutton spent over a hundred grand on that other female streamer, her heart felt even more uneasy.
Technically, she hadn’t lost anything, but in a way, it felt as if Scott used her money on another streamer.
Had she known Scott Sutton was such a spendthrift, she wouldn’t have insisted on returning that fifty grand.
Thinking about it left her feeling blocked up, the more she thought, the more uneasy she felt, and her headache worsened as she stormed upstairs with her cup.
Halfway up, she worried the extravagant young master wouldn’t turn off the lights, so she stopped on the stairs to remind him, "Make sure to turn the lights off when you leave!"
Scott Sutton was walking toward the light switch, saying, "I cover the electricity bill, don’t worry."
"Conserving power is basic decency. I can’t be bothered to worry about your money!" With that, Evelyn turned and went back to her room without looking back.
Seeing Evelyn’s current state, Scott Sutton wasn’t as worried.
Her voice was a bit hoarse, but she had the energy to argue with him, so it must be a mild cold. With medicine and sleep, she’d be fine.
The medicine had a sedative effect, and Evelyn fell into a deep sleep, only waking after ten the next morning.
She had many strange dreams but couldn’t remember them, only that Scott Sutton’s face appeared repeatedly.
What’s happening to her? Why is she affected by someone insignificant?
She shook her head to stop thinking about it, feeling sticky with sweat after sleeping, so she took a shower and felt more relaxed.
She wasn’t sure if Scott Sutton had gone out, nor did she care to find out.
She went straight to Belle’s room to ask what she wanted for breakfast.
But upon opening the door, she found the room dark with the curtains tightly drawn, and Belle slept soundly.
Evelyn then recalled Belle had gone drinking with friends last night, likely drank heavily, and would sleep until the afternoon.
She gently closed the door and headed alone to a nearby noodle shop.
While eating in the small restaurant, she suddenly saw Scott Sutton walking outside with a girl beside him.
The girl sweetly linked arms with him, looking up and smiling as she chatted, and Scott Sutton listened tenderly.
Turns out he has a girlfriend...
Seeing the direction they were headed, is he taking his girlfriend back to the shared apartment?
