Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 878: Cash King Climbed the Wall
Evelyn Linton never believed in windfalls, nor did she think she could effortlessly become the young mistress of a wealthy family and live a life of luxury.
Her first love in high school was a rich young master. In her naïve youth, she agreed to his pursuit out of a longing and thrill for love.
However, after spending time together, she discovered that his behavior was particularly arrogant, often relying on his family’s donations to the school to act domineeringly among classmates.
Evelyn remembers most vividly the time she broke up with him; he was like a mad dog, angrily cursing her as ungrateful, calling her a haughty girl from a poor village.
Because of this, Evelyn endured verbal bullying throughout high school.
It also led to her prejudice against pampered rich young masters.
She’d rather work hard for the life she wants than to rely on pleasing others to earn money.
Moreover, the Suttons were not just ordinarily rich; they were one of the top wealthy families in Rivia.
Such wealthy families often seek compatible matches; even if Scott Sutton and she truly liked each other, his family would surely not agree to it.
Thinking about having to deal with a difficult mother-in-law after marriage made Evelyn’s head ache, further doubting Belle’s saying about the advantage of proximity.
She decided to focus honestly on her own career; though challenging, at least she would have control over her life.
After finishing her takeout, Evelyn went upstairs to shower, change clothes, and put on makeup in preparation for the evening’s livestream.
The livestream started promptly at eight o’clock; Evelyn was prepared for questions from the viewers.
She adjusted her mindset, setting aside all distractions to perform at her best for the livestream.
She ignored comments like "handsome brother" that flooded the chat, focusing solely on promoting products.
Scott Sutton stayed in his room, holding a tablet in one hand and a phone in the other.
On the tablet, he logged into a minor account, watching Evelyn’s livestream feed.
With his main account on his phone, he casually scrolled through the platform’s homepage and randomly entered another female streamer’s page, sending a "Crystal Scepter" ten times in a row.
The female streamer, who had been singing, froze upon seeing the gift: "Oh my God, thank you, Penny, for the Crystal Scepter. Thank you, Cash King. Will Cash King join the fan club?"
Finding it noisy, Scott turned the phone to silent mode.
Then, he continued to watch Evelyn’s reaction.
Sending such a lavish gift on the platform displayed a notification at the top.
Evelyn was trying on clothes at the time and didn’t see the notification until she glanced at the chat and noticed few questions about the clothes, just lines about Cash King.
User A: Cash King has a new fling!
User B: Cash King has switched sides!
User C: Cash King’s favorite is still Evelyn; he’ll send her gifts soon!
User D: Thanks to Cash King for soon sending out twenty Crystal Scepters!
...
Evelyn was well aware that Penny was Scott Sutton, and she had clearly spoken to him last night.
Looking back, it was she who told Scott he had too much money to spend and should go support other streamers or something.
But she never expected him to be so willing to burn through cash.
As she watched the chat, the top notification popped up again: Penny sent Mina ten Crystal Scepters.
After several rounds, she estimated that the fifty thousand Scott refunded in the morning was already spent.
She couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable.
Still, in front of the livestream audience, Evelyn chuckled and said, "Stop with the comments. Penny isn’t in the livestream room. He’s already sent so much; I don’t know how to thank him. He doesn’t even buy clothes, so it’s normal for him to check out other streams. Besides, I don’t want people sending gifts. If you like the products, making a purchase is the biggest support for me."
After speaking, Evelyn stepped back to let the camera show her full figure, showcasing the dress she wore: "You all wanted me to try this on. It’s perfect for the current weather. We have a hundred pieces in each size at a discounted price. Hurry and order if you like it."
Belle entered after finishing her makeup, immediately saying to Evelyn, "Your big spender left. It’s because you didn’t perform any talent. How about singing ’Little Star’ again?"
Evelyn glared at Belle, saying, "Introduce the items for them first; I’m going for some water, my throat is uncomfortable."
Belle took the clothes from Evelyn, leaned towards the computer, and instead of introducing the clothes, chatted with the comments.
Everyone started asking about the handsome guy who appeared in the livestream the day before.
Belle began to tease, saying, "What man? Evelyn found a man behind my back?"
Evelyn quickly interjected, warning Belle, "Don’t talk nonsense!"
Meanwhile, she glanced at the top notification bell; Penny’s reward message was still rolling.
It must have been about a million by now.
In front of the camera, Evelyn appeared indifferent, but away from it, her smile faded.
As she went downstairs to refill her glass, she glanced at Scott’s door, sighed, and quietly went down.
This was their gap. A million for Evelyn was achieved only during major events with days of preparation and exhausting aftermath of packing and shipping.
But to Scott, spending a million just felt like using play money in minutes.
Downstairs, Evelyn secretly entered Mina’s stream with an alt account.
Mina was already a big streamer on the platform with plenty of followers, and Cash King’s ten rounds brought even more curious viewers.
The comment speed was beyond her eyesight.
Seeing Cash King quickly become Mina’s top fan, spending millions instantly.
Evelyn couldn’t decipher if she felt sorry for the money or herself; she just felt aggrieved.
After streaming a little longer upstairs, she noticed few viewers were interested in the clothes, all discussing the "handsome brother" and "Penny."
Evelyn felt unattended, and disappointment surged.
Usual streams lasted until midnight, but at ten, she told the room, "Sorry, my throat’s not good today, maybe it’s a cold. I want to end early and rest; I’ll try on the remaining clothes tomorrow."
