Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 877: People from Different Worlds
"Evelyn, actually, I fell in love with you at first sight long ago. I really did everything I could to get close to you just to catch your attention. Will you marry me?"
"I... I..."
Evelyn Linton suddenly woke up. The man standing before her in the dream with a white glow was so unreal that she immediately realized she was just dreaming.
Even though the man’s face in the dream was blurry, she clearly noticed he had long hair, and his voice sounded exactly like Scott Sutton’s.
She must be crazy to have such a strange dream.
Evelyn Linton calmed her restless heart with a hand, looked at the orange-red dawn outside the window, collected her scattered thoughts, and glanced at the time on her phone—it wasn’t even seven o’clock yet.
She felt a bit exhausted, but she didn’t have the mood to sleep anymore.
With the rubber band on her wrist, she casually tied up her long hair and got up to wash in the bathroom.
Bread and milk made for a simple breakfast as she sat downstairs handling last night’s orders.
After seven, Scott Sutton came downstairs dressed neatly.
Evelyn Linton looked up at him, hesitating whether to greet him or not.
But she saw Scott Sutton walking straight to the entrance without looking sideways, changed his shoes, and then left without a word.
Watching the closed door, Evelyn Linton felt inexplicably disappointed.
She couldn’t quite say why, but she felt as if she had done something wrong, straining their relationship.
Although she and Scott Sutton weren’t very close before, at least they used to exchange a few words when they met.
In the mornings, he occasionally asked if she wanted to go out for breakfast together or something.
Even if he had his plans and was in a hurry to leave, he would not have left without saying a word like just now.
Evelyn Linton sighed and revitalized herself to attend to her matters.
To him and her, they were merely passing acquaintances, and once co-renting ended, they’d be individuals in parallel worlds.
Whether their relationship was good or bad wouldn’t affect her much.
Banks usually opened at nine nearby. Seeing that time had passed, Evelyn Linton left her apartment with her bag and transferred five hundred thousand to Scott Sutton’s account.
When Scott Sutton received the notification, he was sitting on the sofa at home petting a cat.
He just glanced at his phone and continued stroking the little cat lying in his arms without a fuss.
Evelyn Linton used her busyness to dispel the chaotic thoughts in her mind.
She didn’t stop for a moment to handle orders and pack goods, not even managing to have lunch.
After four in the afternoon, Belle came back to help, and Evelyn Linton finally ordered takeout to eat.
"Evelyn, I say, you’re really not thinking straight. There’s a big tycoon living in your house, and you don’t even know how to seize the opportunity."
Evelyn Linton cleared a small space on the table to place the takeout box, asking while setting the box down, "What opportunity should I seize?"
Belle, while checking orders on the computer, said, "What opportunity? Of course, to catch that rich guy! Don’t you want to start your own clothing brand? Get him, and he’d set up a company for you in no time, saving you decades of hard work, to become a young and pretty female boss, isn’t that enticing?"
Evelyn Linton rolled her eyes, muttering, "I have hands and feet that can earn money too. Why rely on someone else? Besides, I’ve saved up a lot. By the end of this year, the funds should be enough."
Belle sighed, "I say, you’re just wasting a good appearance. Learn from other beauties, find a bigwig, act coyly, say some sweet words, and you might earn more than what you make toiling all day."
Evelyn Linton buried her head as she scooped rice into her mouth, saying, "I can’t learn that."
Belle: "Look at you last night, a song about a Little Star, and Cash King gave you a tip of nearly ten thousand. I think you should switch from selling goods to live-streaming performances. Singing a few nursery rhymes a day would be more profitable than selling goods."
Speaking of which, Evelyn Linton felt a bit stifled and quietly said, "People won’t tip every day. Maybe it won’t happen again in the future."
"Hey, you’re just too stubborn. I see that King has a thing for you too. His monthly turnover must be tens of millions, right? You should consider him."
Evelyn Linton snapped, "Is it me considering him, or him considering me? In the live-streaming world, I’m just considered a bit prettier. You can see in the show section that anyone picked at random is better looking than me, with beauty and sweet voices. How can I consider them?"
Belle sighed heavily, "Seems I can’t rely on you to get rich. The young master of the Suttons is living in your home, and you don’t even know how to make a move. If you become the young madam of the Suttons, I could bask in some glory too."
"If you watch less drama for a day, you wouldn’t always be daydreaming."
"How is this daydreaming? It’s quite a likely scenario, okay? I already have someone, or I would have made my move myself!"
Evelyn Linton rolled her eyes and took a sip of the complimentary soup from the meal.
"Click——"
The sound of a door opening made them both stop their actions and look towards the entrance.
Scott Sutton walked into the room, glanced at them, and then stood at the entrance to change his shoes.
Belle, not knowing about Evelyn Linton and Scott Sutton’s little friction, happily greeted, "Scott, you’re back early today!"
Upon hearing Belle’s way of addressing Scott Sutton, Evelyn Linton couldn’t help but get goosebumps, even though she had mentioned several times privately to Belle to use a more normal title, but Belle just wouldn’t listen.
Scott Sutton coolly hummed in acknowledgment, put on his slippers, and went straight upstairs.
After Scott Sutton went upstairs, Belle leaned over and whispered to Evelyn Linton, "What’s with you two? Scott seems a bit unhappy."
Evelyn Linton muttered while eating, "How would I know?"
"There’s definitely something between you two! You didn’t even dare to look at him just now, come clean with me!"
"Nothing happened, I was eating, why would I look at him?"
Belle looked at Evelyn suspiciously and said, "Something’s not right. You two must have had something happen when I wasn’t around."
Then, Belle started muttering to herself, "Could it be you confessed to him and got rejected?"
Evelyn Linton nearly spat out the sip of soup in her mouth, "Do you believe what you’re saying?!"
Belle nodded thoughtfully, "You’re right, with your timid nature, you’d have the will but not the nerve."
Evelyn Linton: "Stop talking nonsense, quickly go ship out the orders! We live in different worlds from him, don’t disturb him and just mind your own business, don’t meddle all day long."
Belle: "What do you mean different worlds? Cinderella can marry a prince. You’re at least a pretty rich girl, have some confidence, make good use of being close to the water, understand?"
