Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 846: The Lowells
There is still over an hour left until the scheduled meeting time between the Lowells and the other party.
After Franklin Sutton hung up the phone, he frowned, looking somewhat troubled and said, "Lynn Bishop said he only realized the road was blocked halfway through his journey, so he had to turn around and take a different route, which will take at least another two hours to get here."
Erin Yates complained softly, "That unreliable guy, so what do we do now? Do we have anyone here who can step in?"
Franklin Sutton turned his gaze to the local person in charge, as if asking if there was a suitable candidate recommendation.
The person in charge seemed a bit embarrassed and said, "Many people in our bureau are familiar faces, afraid they might be exposed. If we bring someone from the city... they probably won’t make it in time either."
Franklin Sutton took a deep breath and resolutely said, "Then I’ll go."
Erin Yates: "But Master, if you go, who will coordinate outside? Everybody is waiting to hear your command."
Franklin Sutton: "There’s no other way now, bring the files over for me to take a look, and you all prepare yourselves. Meeting adjourned."
Shane Warner and Lucian Quinn sat in the police hall waiting and only saw the group of people gradually coming out after the meeting was dismissed.
Just as Shane was about to get up and inquire, he noticed a familiar figure among the crowd.
The old man informed the young police officer of Shane Warner and Lucian Quinn’s intentions, only to hear the young officer mutter softly, "Looking for someone again? Why does it feel like everyone who comes here is looking for someone."
Having said that, the young officer turned his head and called Shane Warner and Lucian Quinn over, "Come with me over here to explain the situation in detail."
Shane Warner and Lucian Quinn both stood up, but Shane didn’t follow the young officer, instead patting Lucian on the shoulder and saying, "Just explain the situation clearly, I’m going over there for a moment."
Lucian looked in the direction Shane pointed, but couldn’t make out much and didn’t ask further, just nodded and followed the young officer to an office on the side.
Shane walked straight towards the direction where Franklin Sutton was.
Franklin Sutton was still standing at the door of the meeting room, holding a folder, discussing something with Erin Yates, completely oblivious to Shane’s arrival.
"What are you doing here?" Shane walked up and asked blandly.
Franklin Sutton looked up, got a bit startled seeing Shane, and asked the same question, "Why are you here?"
Then, realizing something, he asked, "Are you here on holiday?"
Shane explained the general reason simply, also mentioning Faye Xavier and Morgan Quinn’s disappearance.
Upon hearing it, Franklin Sutton said, "Well, your two friends are in danger. How could they just mess around without knowing anything about this place?"
Shane voiced his doubts, "Has something happened here?"
Franklin Sutton: "You guys came here without understanding anything? To be blunt, this is a high-risk human trafficking area, many come in but never return. Your two friends are most likely abducted to a brothel to be exploited."
Erin Yates chimed in, "Could it be the shop Old Snake went to? What do your friends look like? Show me their photos, and I can help look for them inside when I go in tonight."
Franklin Sutton: "Let’s talk about that later, I’ll look over the Lowells’ information first, otherwise..."
Trailing off, something suddenly flashed in Franklin’s mind, he turned to look at Shane, appraising him, and then revealed a satisfied smile, asking Erin, "How about he plays Old Man Lowell?"
"Him?" Erin looked surprised at first, then scrutinized Shane, expressing her dissatisfaction, "He might fit the profile of Old Man Lowell being a pretty boy, but Old Man Lowell is also henpecked, and this guy’s aura clearly can’t be controlled by a woman, it might get exposed."
Franklin Sutton: "As long as he physically resembles him, the rest is up to acting skills. His wits are sharper than Blanc, and he might offer you advice if anything happens."
Shane couldn’t help but speak up, "I’m just here to find someone."
Franklin Sutton: "Our business and your business are now connected. Think of it as helping us temporarily; our people will ensure your safety. Your task is simple, just follow Erin, and the other party needs only to know that you’re there, as the Lowells always act in pairs, but Mrs. Lowell is the main voice."
Erin Yates: "I have no objections, this kid does seem sharper than Blanc."
With that, Franklin Sutton handed the folder to Shane, "Familiarize yourself with the information, Erin, you stay and practice a bit with him, I’ll go organize other matters, we can’t afford any mistakes."
The hot potato fell into Shane’s hands, neither picking it up nor dropping it was an option.
Shane was still confused about what he was supposed to do when Erin said, "There’s not much to the information, just act like my husband, be a little submissive, and stick by my side."
"How long will it take?"
Erin Yates: "That’s hard to say. The meeting time is set at 3 PM, you’ve got around an hour to prepare."
Shane: "I’ll call my wife."
As Shane reached into his pocket for his phone, Erin stopped him, "This is a confidential mission; the fewer people who know, the better. Explain to your wife when the task is over."
"I’ll just text her saying I have something and will be delayed," Shane insisted on taking out his phone, as Audrey Sutton was still at the hotel waiting, and he had promised to return soon. If he didn’t show up, she’d definitely worry.
Erin watched Shane draft the text, ensuring it didn’t mention the current mission, and only then allowed him to send it.
Inside, Lucian explained the situation to the attending officer, who registered Morgan Quinn and Faye Xavier’s missing information, saying, "Alright, Mr. Quinn, we will investigate using the leads you’ve provided, and notify you immediately if there’s any news about the two."
"Thank you."
As Lucian came out, searching for Shane, he saw a girl in a baseball jacket chatting with Shane not far away, holding his arm.
After several glances, confirming the girl in the baseball jacket wasn’t Audrey Sutton, a cascade of questions filled Lucian’s mind.
Curious, yet unsure whether he should approach and inquire.
At this moment, Shane noticed Lucian’s gaze and immediately left Erin, who was practicing with him, to approach Lucian, saying quietly, "I’ve got something to deal with here, head back to the hotel first."
Lucian glanced at the girl behind Shane, hesitantly nodding, "Alright."
A fleeting thought crossed his mind.
He wondered if Shane could really be that kind of person, but he had clearly seen them holding hands affectionately... 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Had he misjudged Shane’s true character? Was this Shane’s real side all along?
If Audrey Sutton asked, should he help Shane keep it a secret, or should he tell the truth?
