Magus Supremacy
Chapter 1037: Continuous Clash
Chapter 1037
BOOOOM—!
The whole planet shuddered from the impact of the five hundred lightning pillars.
The whole forest was blasted into oblivion as giant hollows appeared in the earth immediately.
Dust billowed into the sky while Grey was now nowhere to be seen.
For a second, it felt like the whole planet had shifted from its orbit, but it didn’t.
Cracks spiderwebbed across the terrain, with more molten lava spewing into the air.
’Huh? Where did he go?’ Gustav wondered with a frown on his face as he stared at the exact spot Grey had stood at a second ago.
Squinting harder, he could see that not all the trees were destroyed.
There were still about four or five left standing... barely surviving the attack.
And on one of them stood Grey, perched like he was some kind of bird.
He crouched down while looking ahead at his father standing several meters away from him.
Grey smiled as he kept looking ahead while swirling Ki around his body, wind also coiling around him, howling and humming with intensity, ready for when he would lunge forward.
A blink.
He had just blinked, and Gustav had disappeared from sight.
He tightened his grip on the tree, muscles coiling tight, then released like a spring unbound, launching into the air with explosive grace.
BOOOM!
Grey darted away at the right time as the tree suddenly bent backward from his lunge.
Gustav appeared on the exact same tree Grey had just vanished from, a metal longsword gleaming in his hand, which was already mid-motion.
With a loud crash, his sword sliced through the tree, shattering it into splinters almost immediately.
Now, Gustav was free-falling for a moment, but teleporting, he repositioned himself in another spot, five meters away from Grey.
The earth suddenly groaned beneath his feet, causing the man to glance down only to see earthen hands bursting out of the ground, twisting and surging towards his legs.
Blue arcs of lightning began crackling around his frame.
With an explosive burst, he darted to the side, dodging the entrapment that had been about to hold him down.
But it didn’t stop there; where he found himself, the earth was beginning to move too.
So Gustav did what he could.
Run!
With explosive speed, he took to his heels, dashing away as the ground began giving chase, refusing to leave him free for one bit.
Grey smirked as wind hummed around his body, sharpening his limbs ready for when he would give chase.
A second later, he exploded forward, giving chase with impressive speed that made him look like a blur.
"Wait for me, old man! Why are you running?"
Gustav looked behind him for a moment to spot Grey closing in with rapid velocity, while the rushing earth was just a little behind the boy.
Gustav frowned, and the very next second, he vanished from view mid-run at that.
’Not that again.’
Grey’s senses flared up almost immediately as he spun around with a ki sword in hand, materializing as if it had always been in his grip.
CLANG!
He deflected a precise blow to his back from the metal sword.
The moment he parried the strike away, Grey lunged forward with a fierce thrust that seemed to make the wind howl fiercely around his sword.
Gustav sidestepped almost immediately, slipping past the thrust that smashed into the air with a gunshot-like bang.
Bringing his metal sword down in brutal efficiency, Gustav watched as the earth surged upward, shifting in place as Grey tried to block, the metal sword connecting with brutal force.
Unfortunately, the defense didn’t even hold for a second as it crumbled down under the weight of Gustav’s strike.
Luckily, Grey was already nowhere to be seen.
Gustav’s metal sword struck the earth with explosive force, causing the whole ground to shatter open.
His eyes rolled to the side as he spotted something on the ground, and with a fluid lunge, he bolted to the side just as Grey crashed into the exact spot the man had just been in.
Grey’s sword cleaved into the earth like a hot knife plowing through butter.
Springing to his feet, Gustav pointed his sword forward, and five hundred metal swords were immediately fired out at his son.
They screamed and hummed with lethal intensity.
Grey didn’t fret.
He didn’t dodge, nor did he run away.
He shifted into a firm stance with his ki sword humming in rhythm, ready for what was to come.
In a second, the Supreme Magus bolted forward to meet the metal swords, and from there on, it was a pure blur of movement.
He was clashing with the blades, deflecting and parrying them all with the fluid speed and precision of a master swordsman.
His hands blurred through the air, with his body and hips following in tandem, refusing to be left behind in this awesome display of agility.
Each clash seemed to cause bright sparks to fly into the air, followed by a loud crash that was made each time the deflected metal swords hammered into the earth.
Weave. Slash. Duck. Slice upward.
Grey’s hands were making quick work of the projectiles, with his ki sword refusing to give up on its master no matter what.
He was currently surrounded by the hundreds of metal weapons as he danced in between them, hands cracking and snapping in the right place and at the exact right time.
His ears perked up as a subtle distortion could be felt right behind him.
With a loud snap, another ki sword materialized in his grip, which he swung backward without even looking.
Clang!
He was met with a much more powerful metal sword from Gustav that had been heading straight for his neck.
The soil ruptured open as the man was seen smiling, even though his surprise attack had failed.
He had planned on sneaking into the hundreds of metal swords encircling the Supreme Magus in order to deal his finishing strike.
He hadn’t anticipated that Grey’s sensory perception would be absolutely top-notch.
Before the warrior-mage could make a counter-attack, Gustav vanished from view immediately, leaving his son to deal with the remaining metal swords.
Instead of chasing, Grey’s eyes narrowed into slits as he clicked his tongue.
Almost immediately, five hundred fireballs roared into existence, and right there and then, they hurled downward, smashing into the remaining metal swords and flinging them into the ground.
"Fusion magic: Excalibur."
Grey spun around in time, only to see a metal sword wreathed in crackling lightning an inch away from his abdomen.
