Chapter 112: Kind-hearted philanthropist.

Jasper asked it quite smoothly—

Even though that wasn’t in his nature.

Dylan was his older brother, but there had only been a few rare instances when Jasper had actually approached him for help. He had always been someone who preferred solving his problems on his own.

That was precisely why, when Dylan heard him, even his pen paused momentarily over the document. He lifted his gaze and looked toward his brother, his eyes narrowing in quiet scrutiny.

However, Jasper remained completely at ease. His expression stayed calm and composed.

"You’ve also come for money?" Karl spoke from the side. His expression carried a hint of excitement, as though he had finally found someone in the same predicament as himself.

"Too bad... you won’t be getting any."

Jasper turned to look at him.

Karl shrugged. "Don’t look at me like that. It’s not me—it’s Big Brother. He said he doesn’t have any money to give us."

He himself was here to beg for some.

It had only been three days, yet his savings were already gone.

To survive in this world—

He had no choice but to come and beg his Old Demon Brother.

"You must have misread Brother’s words again," Jasper said calmly.

Karl frowned. "Misread? What did I misread? Brother clearly said he had no money to offer—" 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

"...you."

Jasper completed his sentence without missing a beat.

"How is that any different?" Karl asked, his lips forming an unintentional pout. "We’re all brothers. And Big Brother has never been biased. If he doesn’t have money for me, he wouldn’t have it for you either."

Jasper looked at him—momentarily speechless.

Just when he thought Karl couldn’t get any more foolish, he managed to surprise him again.

"Big Brother doesn’t have money?" Jasper let out a light scoff. "Who do you think he is?"

Karl was about to argue back, but then paused as realization struck him.

Right.

How could the Old Demon possibly lack money?

In this world, the one thing his brother would never run short of was wealth.

Every passing moment, it only increased.

How had he believed something so absurd?

His lips pressed into a thin line as he turned toward Dylan, looking at him as though he had been betrayed.

"Brother..."

"I didn’t hear your company being in any crisis recently," Dylan said, cutting him off. His gaze shifted to Jasper instead.

Jasper turned toward him and smiled faintly. "There’s no crisis. The company is doing well."

"Then why are you here?" Karl cut in again, unable to hold himself back. "Just to remind me that while both my brothers are sitting on mountains of money, I’m still broke?"

Both Dylan and Jasper glanced at him—

But only briefly, as though sparing him attention was already more than necessary.

"You—" Karl wanted to complain further, but—

He was completely ignored.

Jasper turned back to Dylan and spoke,

"Brother, I didn’t come here just to ask for money," he said, his tone steady, though laced with a faint hint of playfulness. "I came because I genuinely thought you might be interested."

"...."

Dylan didn’t respond. He simply watched Jasper, waiting for him to get to the point.

Understanding that silence well, Jasper didn’t delay.

"I received a call from Director Rhodes earlier. He reached out seeking investment," Jasper explained. "Under normal circumstances, I would have taken it up myself. But currently, my company’s funds are tied up across multiple projects. I can only support partially—not at the scale he requires."

He paused slightly before continuing,

"Given the nature of the project—and the person behind it—I thought you might find it worth considering."

Though he didn’t spell everything out, the intent in his gaze toward Dylan was unmistakable. A subtle, knowing smile curved his lips.

Karl, however, remained utterly confused.

With a deep frown, he said, "Jasper, Big Brother has never been interested in your so-called entertainment industry. Why would he suddenly care about Director Rhodes’s project?"

Jasper ignored him entirely and continued addressing Dylan instead.

"Director Rhodes is known for being uncompromising when it comes to his work. But recently, I’ve heard the existing investors are creating significant pressure. They’re unwilling to take the risk of casting a relatively unknown actress as the lead and are pushing him to replace her."

His tone grew slightly more deliberate.

"If this continues, it won’t just disrupt the entire production timeline and possibly even dilute the integrity of the project, but will also affect the casting. Director Rhodes might really get forced into replacing her."

He didn’t elaborate further. Instead, he clicked his tongue softly, as though expressing quiet regret towards someone.

Dylan’s expression remained calm.

But deep within his eyes—something stirred.

A restrained emotion.

Something he was deliberately keeping under control.

"If you pity Director Rhodes that much, why don’t you help him yourself?" Karl chimed in again. "Big Brother isn’t some kind-hearted philanthropist. Why are you trying to make him act like one?"

He thought he was saying something smart.

After all, wasn’t he speaking on Dylan’s behalf?

Jasper pressed his lips together and glanced at him.

"Since you’re already here meddling, why did you leave your ears back at home?"

"I have my ears," Karl shot back.

"Do you?" Jasper countered. "Then how did you miss me saying that my available funds aren’t sufficient?"

"You could still raise capital," Karl argued, lifting his chin slightly. "With your reputation, that shouldn’t be difficult, right?"

Jasper pinched the bridge of his nose, clearly running out of patience.

"Stay out of this, Karl. I don’t have the energy to entertain you right now."

"You don’t have to entertain me. I’m just speaking on behalf of Big Brother. He doesn’t have money to—"

"Okay."

Dylan’s single word cut him off mid-sentence.

Karl froze and turned to look at him, confused.

The answer was clear—

Yet, he couldn’t quite grasp what that "okay" actually meant.

Before he could ask, Dylan spoke again,

"Sign the deal with them," he said calmly.

Then, after a brief pause, he added,

"But structure it through two accounts."

"Two accounts?" Jasper echoed, slightly surprised.

He had expected Dylan to be interested—

But not this directly.

"Do you want to invest under your own name?"

Dylan nodded without hesitation. "Mm. The primary investment will be under my name."

Then, after a beat, he added,

"But it will be routed through you. You’ll oversee it on my behalf."

Jasper’s smile deepened, a trace of amusement flickering in his eyes.

"That won’t be a problem. Since I’ll also be investing, I’ll already have a seat at the table. Overseeing an additional stake won’t raise any suspicion."

Dylan gave a small nod, satisfied.

Then, without another word, he lowered his gaze and returned to the document in front of him—as though the matter had already been settled.

"If that’s all, you can leave. Don’t disturb me further."

Jasper rose to his feet, ready to head out when—

Dylan’s voice sounded again.

"Take him along."
