Chapter 1614: Chapter 1614: Questioning Sui

"Have you ever encountered this kind of situation before?" He Ao asked.

"No," Reid shook his head, "usually anomalies don’t change their form, whereas the abnormal space has directly created another otherworldly space. It’s the first time I’ve seen something that wipes out an entire building like this.

"But since it’s an anomaly, anything is possible. If there wasn’t something strange about it, that would be the real oddity. However, the possibility that this anomaly is a Level 1 anomaly has increased."

"How can we determine if it’s a Level 1 anomaly?" He Ao asked in confusion.

"There’s no way to be sure," Reid shook his head, "the only way is to go inside and see. Anomalies can have all sorts of bizarre situations appear. It’s not impossible for a Level 2 anomaly to have some features that look like Level 1.

"But I’ll report the information on this anomaly to the president and see what he says,"

He paused slightly, "but according to the association’s practice, an exploration is probably necessary to determine the threat level of this anomaly. After all, we can’t just grade an anomaly based on conjecture."

He sighed lightly, "Only exploration is the most reliable method. The more dangerous the anomaly, the sooner it is explored, the sooner the rules are understood, and the more people can be saved."

"Isn’t there any object that can determine an anomaly’s level?" He Ao asked softly.

"No," Reid shook his head, "if an anomaly could be included in regular detection, it wouldn’t be an anomaly."

As he spoke, he opened the aerial photograph from seven years ago, "What’s that on the orphanage’s wall in the picture? It looks a bit like an electric grid?"

"It’s an electric grid," He Ao said, looking at the photo as some scenes flashed back in his mind, "it was connected to high-voltage electricity."

"To prevent what?" Reid turned to look at He Ao in some confusion, "To prevent the kids from ’escaping’?"

He Ao nodded gently.

Reid was momentarily silent.

"The orphanage occasionally had outdoor classes, and we would be taken out by our teachers to walk around Lorinse Street to prevent severe psychological problems, but only a few kids were taken each time. Mostly, we would just walk to the bakery next to the orphanage,"

He Ao said calmly, "At most other times, no one could leave the orphanage."

"The bakery, the one you just went into?" Reid vaguely recalled, looking at He Ao, and asked, "How did you escape back then?"

"The orphanage only had one place without a high-voltage electric grid, and that was the gate," He Ao lifted his gaze, as though caught in some recollection,

"But the gate was high, usually locked with chains, and there was a strong young security guard on a rotating shift in the guardhouse near the gate, on duty twenty-four hours a day,

"But perhaps because no child had ever escaped, they weren’t that alert. Whenever there was a welcoming event, the dean would improve the food, but there weren’t enough people in the kitchen, so the security guard at the gate would occasionally be called over to help out."

"So you took advantage of the time when the security was helping and ran out?" Reid asked.

"Yes, that day everyone was preparing for the new arrivals, I didn’t have many friends in the orphanage, and the teachers didn’t pay attention to me, so I sneaked out of the corner," He Ao nodded, "The door was locked, but the security guard left the keys in the guardhouse. I climbed through the window, took the keys, opened the door, and left."

He shrugged, "After opening the door, I even put the keys back and locked the door properly when I left, but they didn’t seem to notice I was gone."

"There were no security cameras at the orphanage?" Reid asked in confusion.

"There were," He Ao said softly, "but the one facing the door was smashed by some kids throwing stones the night before, and the repairman hadn’t come yet. When I saw the camera was broken, I realized this was a good chance to leave."

He stared at the old buildings in the aerial photo, falling into a brief silence.

"You were really lucky," Reid also sighed, "There was a fire at the orphanage that night."

"Perhaps it was indeed luck," He Ao fell silent once again, then turned his gaze to Reid, "Have you already sent people to monitor the anomaly in the Three-in-One Building?"

"Yes," Reid nodded slightly, "It’s been completely sealed off,"

He looked at He Ao, "Do you think there’s still an issue with the Endless Corridor anomaly?"

"Just some simple guesses, not sure if they’re right or not," He Ao shook his head, "but maybe I can get some information about the orphanage."

"I can give you permission to pass through the seal," Reid looked at He Ao, "but how will you come out then?"

He Ao looked at him, smiling, "So I’ll have to go home first."

Maureen Building

He Ao held a big box with one hand and a plastic bag, while his other hand pressed against the fingerprint lock on the door. With a light ’beep—,’ the red light flashed.

It was then that He Ao remembered that the door was blown up last night and had been restored by Sui, so his fingerprint was no longer there.

He Ao raised his hand to knock on the door.

Click—

Just at that moment, with a light sound, the door lock was opened from the inside.

He Ao was slightly stunned, holding the doorknob and slowly pushing it open, looking inside, "Sui?!"

Bang—

A shadow came from afar, streaking across the sky like a facehugger and landing on his face.

"Big guy! I knew it was you coming back!" Sui exclaimed excitedly, hugging He Ao’s head.

"Wait a minute, I’m a bit dizzy," He Ao said helplessly, taking down the little doll hugging his head and shaking his head, "Your surprise attack almost overwhelmed me."

He closed the door with his foot, walked to the dining table, placed Sui on it, and then put the big box on the table as well.

Sui climbed onto the long box with some curiosity, "Big guy, what did you buy?"

"A very dangerous weapon!" He Ao suddenly appeared next to her, startling her.

Sui shrunk her head, sitting on the edge of the box, "How dangerous?"

Then she saw He Ao start to open the plastic bag on the table, revealing two sandwiches inside.

"Sandwiches!" She quickly stood up, hugging the sandwiches.

Then she remembered something, looking up at He Ao, "Are these for me?"

"Yes!" He Ao nodded slightly, "I bought them on my way back."

He had just asked Reid to drop him downstairs with a helicopter, and he bought them at a convenience store downstairs.

"Thank you!" Sui hugged the sandwiches, chuckled, quickly opened them, and took a bite of one corner of the sandwich.

He Ao opened the sandwich and took a bite, looking at Sui, suddenly asking, "Sui, if someone needed your help, would you leave this house?"
