Chapter 127: Clark City

At this moment, Felix didn’t have enough knowledge about beasts at the Unique rank and above. He would only learn about it in the college.

However, Doctor Eleanor suddenly spoke, "Those are Ashwing Carrion Drakes. They are difficult to tame. They are often gathered in pack, unless an Epic drake ruled them."

Felix was stunned. Sky Marshal Kaelor was only at the Lord rank, and now there was a King beast trying to attack the Obsidian Wing.

Doctor Eleanor continued, "You don’t have to worry against King beast, really. Sky Marshal Kaelor was at Fifth Tier, and all his beasts were powerful enough to contend against the King drake. Nevertheless, I still don’t know any reason for a King drake to show up and attack the Obsidian Wing.

It might only order a pack of drake to attack and probe us. No need to worry."

Doctor Eleanor kept assuring not only Felix but also the other passengers who heard her.

They watched as the Ashwing Carrion Drakes’ image were getting bigger.

It has a bulky draconic frames, ash-black hide, exposed bone ridges, and ember-glowing chest cavities. Their wings constantly leak smoke, soot, and burning ash particles, as though their mere presence could engulf a whole town with their flames.

There were eight of them and they seemed to possess similar features.

Doctor Eleanor said, "You’ll know if there’s a king beast when there’s a crown in their head. The crown is simply the manifestation of their second core, which showed the amount of quality and quantity they have."

Felix was awestruck. "Doesn’t that mean there’s a massive difference between a Lord and King?"

"That’s right. But Sky Marshal Kaelor has five powerful beasts. Sky Marshal Kaelor himself is at the peak of the Unique rank. With his beast pets, he could contend against the King beast."

"Even if the King beast is accompanied by their pack?"

"T-That’s..." Doctor Eleanor was speechless.

She remained like that for a while until Sky Marshal Kaelor summoned three of his beast pets, as shown in the TV.

A colossal silver-black Roc first appeared. It suddenly created a massive thunderstorm that covered at least four drakes. The Roc ascended high into storm clouds before descending like a meteor, tearing through the tough scales and body of drake one at a time.

A Chainbolt Wyvern then appeared, summoning a lightning chain breath that instantly pierced through the body of a drake.

As the Roc and Wyvern attacked the horde of drakes, halting their advance, a heavily armored gryphoon with metallic feathers, thunder-forged talons, and glowing blue eyes appeared at the top of the Obsidian Wing. Due to how close the camera to it, it appeared tall and majestic, awestriking the passengers, who was observing.

It summoned a temporary electrical barrier around the aircraft, instantly negating fire breaths from one of the drakes.

The battle lasted for an hour, with the favor on Sky Marshal Kaelor’s beast pets. The horde of drakes failed to breakthrough, but instead of retreating, they chose to die fighting, baffling Felix.

Watching as the last drake fell from the sky, he asked Doctor Eleanor, "Why didn’t they retreat?"

Doctor Eleanor couldn’t answer Felix. She wasn’t knowledgeable on this area. Thankfully, Master Shen answered instead.

"When a ruler told you to die, they would."

Felix furrowed his eyebrows. "Why would a ruler order them to commit a suicide?"

"Three reasons. First, the ruler is desperate to lessen the human activity and do whatever means necessary. Second, their territory is shrinking and their population are rising, which means their sustenance are becoming scarce. Third, they’re showing their predatorial nature."

Felix fell into deep contemplation. Every reason Master Shen had stated were reasonable.

He was silent for a while, until Doctor Eleanor interrupted his thoughts, saying, "You can study more about it in the college. No need to exhaust your mind that deeply. We are now entering the Clark City territory."

Every passenger held their breath and gazed at the TV showing the landscape of the Clark City.

It was no doubt three, or possibly even five times larger than the Chambers City.

The colossal defensive walls were blocking the interior of the Chambers City.

Once they passed through it, the TV showed the Clark City’s agricultural zones, which were vast and viridescent. There were farmers, accompanied by their beast pets, harvesting.

Passed through the agricultural zones were Fortress Districts and Hunter Launch Platforms as the crew member introduced.

The Hunter Launch Platforms were large deployment zones where adventurers or hunters and military expeditions leave outside the Clark City for various reasons.

As they traveled for five minutes, the crew member said that what they had just saw was the Outer Bastion Ring—one of the seven rings of the Clark City.

The passengers, most who had their first time coming into the Clark City, were in awe. Although they already researched and were aware before they entered the Obsidian Wing, just hearing it again and seeing it from the sky struck them with awe.

They finally entered the Industrial Ring, the economic backbone of Clark City.

The crew member said, "Although Clark City prioritizes medicine and governance, its industries remain immense and progressive like the others. It’s dominated by production facilities, logistics hub, transport systems, and resource refinement complexes."

The crew member turned around and finally lasered at a skyrail system.

She turned towards them, beamed a smile, and said, "This is called Skyrail Nexus, the Clark City’s transportation heart. Its gigantic skyrail systems connect to the seven rings, nearby fortress settlements, and even intercity trade routes. However, the intercity trade routes are still ongoing, as even A-grade city hasn’t produced a skyrail system yet."

The passengers were astonished by the Skyrail Nexus. The Chambers City still hasn’t a skyrail systems yet and the mayor hadn’t announced a plan to establish it after the Clark City took every city by storm when it finally created the gigantic skyrail system and helped other S-grade cities build it in the span of two years.

Timothy had already stated that the skyrail system was difficult to implement and not the main priority right now...
