Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die! - Chapter 2040: Never Give Up What You’ve Gained
The Butler was very reserved facing the guest; he smiled while inviting Xu Huo to the guest room, asking him to clean himself up and then fetched a set of Huahan Werna’s clothes for him to wear.
"This is a formal suit from when Mr. Werna was young. He never wore it, and it’s somewhat different from the current fashion. However, young people have named this style ’retro,’" the Butler remarked while helping Xu Huo into his jacket. "You and Mr. Werna have similar builds. It should fit you nicely."
Xu Huo adjusted the collar and looked at himself in the mirror. The formal suit was deep blue, and its buttons were made of black gemstones, not particularly eye-catching but very exquisite.
The Butler showed a slight smile, "Indeed, it’s quite nice."
"Bang bang bang." Someone knocked on the door outside, followed by Huahan Werna’s voice, "Are you done?"
The smile on the Butler’s face immediately froze, and he bowed slightly to Xu Huo, walked out to open the door first, and whispered, "Sir, please don’t be rude in front of the guest again!"
"Alright, alright, I remember." The sound of descending the stairs followed.
The Butler reopened the door, recovering his previous cold expression, and invited Xu Huo downstairs for a meal.
The dinner was very sumptuous, almost every inch of the small three-meter table was covered with dishes. Huahan Werna was already sitting upright at the table, and waited for Xu Huo to sit opposite him before suggesting, "Try it. These are the signature dishes of Butler."
They were dishes Xu Huo had never seen before; he tasted them, finding the flavors quite decent.
Huahan Werna originally wanted to have some wine but was stopped by the Butler. His appetite was quite good, eating even more than the young Xu Huo.
The atmosphere during the meal was alright, and after dinner, they went to the tea room to drink tea, sitting for a while before bringing up the topic of Time Power again.
This time, however, Huahan Werna didn’t start with the Time Ray but mentioned introducing time from other zones.
"Introducing other time isn’t just about breaking through space to contact other time forces so simply." He said, "Within a space, time is unified, making it hard for other times to insert. It’s also not like a real line that can be arbitrarily pulled and tugged. To put it more precisely, it’s more like water flowing down from spatial gaps or like rain, with a fixed direction."
"It’s not something that can be achieved with gradual progress."
"Isn’t the evolution of time power different from spatial evolution, not expanding and deepening in terms of scope and force?" Xu Huo interjected.
"Temporal Evolution and Spatial Evolution are different." Huahan Werna mentioned this for the second time, "Spatial Power can be controlled and used, but Time Power cannot. You’re merely borrowing it, unable to control the flow speed of time or change the very nature of time itself. This is immensely different from spatial power, where pursuing scope will never yield a breakthrough in a lifetime."
Xu Huo paused slightly, meeting the other’s meaningful gaze before saying, "Perhaps I’m still lacking some talent."
Huahan Werna shook his head with a smile, "You’ve managed to obtain the black box, proving that Temporal Evolution is already successful. Being on the right path means you didn’t make too big a mistake."
"But having too many choices isn’t always good," he said, "You’re a very smart young man, rarely seen players capable of evolving both time and space. Human thought has specific patterns; spatial evolution has impacted the process of Temporal Evolution, you might consider making a trade-off."
As if not hearing the deeper meaning behind his words, Xu Huo smiled, "How can one abandon what’s already in hand? Isn’t abandonment denying one’s past?"
Huahan Werna seemed already aware of his attitude, unchanged in expression, "Young man, a little arrogance isn’t necessarily a bad thing."
Xu Huo was ready to take his leave.
Huahan Werna didn’t try to keep him, asking the Butler to see him out.
Before leaving, Xu Huo told the Butler, "I’ll return the clothes once cleaned."
"You can keep them." The Butler smiled, "I won’t see you out, the vehicle will take you away from this district."
Xu Huo thanked him, boarded the city’s automated flying craft heading out of the district, only to find halfway, a barrier suddenly appeared ahead, blocking the road firmly, while laughter came from the adjacent Castle building.
He turned to look, only to find several young nobles who had shown their faces at the Werna Household, all of whom held significant status in Zone 011.
"Anyone who can enter this district should be able to handle a vehicle, right?" Those on the building stared at him, their eyes full of malice.
Blocking his way was the Spatial Barrier, something inconsequential to advanced players, but using a prop at this time would be at a disadvantage, especially in a nobles’ residential district, it would be him who loses.
Xu Huo waved to the people upstairs, dismantled the Spatial Barrier, and continued forward.
The noble offspring didn’t want him to leave so easily, one of them shouted, "You dare to use a prop here!"
Speaking, the person flashed to the front of the vehicle—intending to step on the hood—but somehow his foot slipped upon descending, his whole body pitched forward, then somehow his hand slipped too, and his face heavily slammed onto the hood, with a nasal assaulting "thud!"
Xu Huo sat motionlessly in the vehicle, smilingly watching the person raise his head in front, "Such a big gift without any occasion is really polite."
"Oh, wait, we just passed the New Year in Zone 011, should I give you a red envelope?"
The man still wanted to act but had both hands and one foot embedded into the hood unable to extract, realizing this wasn’t just a prop effect, he immediately reached for his instrument but his vision didn’t leave Xu Huo. Eyes met, and everything in his sight seemed to shrink, expanding only those eyes, while accompanying the expansion was boundless pressure, an invisible oppression leaving him unable to move, unable to breathe, his mouth wide as if dying, wanting to call for help but powerless.
"Why is he lying motionless on the vehicle? Getting off and then lack of movement," a woman in the building frowned, prepared to call someone beside her to check, but suddenly saw Xu Huo turn his head, meeting his gaze, her body stiffened, unable to maintain her previously relaxed stance.
"No need for so many people seeing me off at night," Xu Huo spoke now, smiling, "You’re welcome to come visit Rose Castle when you have time."
With these words, the vehicle moved forward, the person once lying on the hood suddenly dropped, passing through the car before reappearing behind it under the astonished eyes of the others!
The noble offspring gasped sharply upon detachment from the Spiritual World, then coughed violently, looking back only to see the person inside the vehicle waving farewell with his back towards them.
