Jilted by Day, Cuddled At Night - Chapter 567: Can We Talk About Love?
Uninvited.
This was actually quite annoying.
Moreover, when Molly entered, her gaze hovered over Gu Yu, which also caused him much displeasure.
The mask wasn’t ready yet, so for the next few days, Gu Yu had no choice but to endure the girls’ excessive enthusiasm. However, he had hidden in his sister’s dorm to avoid them, so how could he still encounter such a girl?
He suddenly lost his appetite.
Vivian was a bit confused, but didn’t know how to deal with the situation. After all, the food was brought by Gu Yan, and whether to eat or not was for Gu Yan to decide.
Gu Yan quietly looked at Molly and didn’t pick up on her comment about how delicious the food smelled. Instead, she asked, "Do you need something from me?"
Molly had thought that Gu Yan would take the hint and ask her to stay and eat. She was so stingy!
Although she thought this, she still smiled and said, "I brought some fruits from home. There’s quite a lot, and my roommate and I can’t finish them all. I brought some for you to try."
"Oh, thank you."
Apart from that, Gu Yan said nothing more, just politely took the fruit and let it go.
Molly was very frustrated and couldn’t hide her expression. She glanced a few more times at Gu Yu and the delicious food on the table before leaving somewhat reluctantly.
If she wasn’t mistaken, the sumptuous delicacies on the table must have come from the Gu’s Commander’s residence. Perhaps, it was none other than the Commander Su Wan herself who made them!
That’s the Food God, the best cook on Landis Star!
Then Vivian went to close the door. Right before Molly left, she glared at Vivian, leaving Vivian quite baffled.
She asked perplexedly, "Did I somehow offend Molly at some point?"
Gu Yan shook her head. "Don’t mind her. Come on, let’s continue eating before it gets cold."
After Molly left, Gu Yu relaxed again. He looked at the fruits, which were readily available in the main city. While not cheap—as fruits and vegetables were expensive—they were still reasonably priced.
Gu Yu out of curiosity asked, "Xiaoyan, you weren’t very polite to her even though she brought you something, were you?"
Gu Yan replied, "Polite for what? She had an ulterior motive for sending those fruits. Besides, I don’t like her. Just now, her eyes stuck on you and the food on the table the whole time. Her face practically begged me to invite her to join us. Not happening!"
Gu Yan, being doted on by so many people, definitely had her own little whims. She would be very kind to friends whom she liked and approved of.
But for someone she didn’t like, why should she put herself out to be nice to them?
Gu Yu nodded in agreement; he wasn’t very fond of that girl from earlier either. The three of them continued to feast, finishing up everything on the table. Then, Gu Yan found some snacks made by the housekeeping robots in the fridge and brought them to the next room as a reciprocal gesture.
Molly was initially pleased and exclaimed in surprise, "Gu Yan, did your mother make these herself?"
Foods personally made by Su Wan would be enough to boast about to her friends for quite a while.
Gu Yan said, "No, my mom is very busy every day. These were made by the housekeeping robots."
The smile on Molly’s face visibly faded away.
Gu Yan found an excuse and walked away. She didn’t like owing people favors. "You brought over some fruit that was bought randomly outside, whereas this is a homemade dessert made by the household robot, and it’s made from top-notch ingredients. It tastes much better than what’s sold outside. That should be enough."
However, Gu Yan took a couple of steps and then turned back to Molly, "Oh, and Molly, there’s a lot of food in my dorm, and you don’t know what flavors I like. You don’t need to go to the trouble of bringing anything else over."
After saying this, she turned and walked away, leaving Molly shaking in anger on the spot, almost throwing the dessert in her hand.
But after thinking it over, she couldn’t bring herself to do it. After all, even if it was made by a robot, nothing from Commander Gu’s household could be bad.
But deep down she was still irked!
Meanwhile, Gu Yan went back to her dorm and went about her business, not caring whether Molly was irritated or not. Molly was too overt in her attempts to suck up and get close, and Gu Yan would much rather spend time with her roommate Vivian than with such a scheming person.
Actually, Gu Yan was quite used to campus life. The only thing marring the otherwise pleasant experience was Brother Little Mushroom, who said he would come to visit her in a few days but had yet to appear.
On this side, Gu Chen had heard from the Foreign Affairs Office about the Insectoids sending people over to participate in an exchange program, aiming to learn from the Landis Star people.
Over the years, they from Landis Star had become allies with the Insectoids, helping each other out when trouble arose. Sending a few young people over as exchange students wasn’t a big issue.
Gu Chen personally approved the matter, yet he reminded the relevant staff to conduct routine security checks when these Insectoids arrived at Landis Star. He asked them to communicate this to the Insectoids in advance.
It was a matter of being responsible for the native citizens, not to mention that Empire University was filled with the future blossoms of the Landis Star.
Gu Chen’s own brother and sister were also studying there.
The head of the Foreign Affairs Office immediately relayed this to the Insectoid representative, who expressed understanding and agreement. The matter was then scheduled, and according to the timeline, the young Insectoids would arrive just in time for the annual new student military training.
On the Insectoid side, those selected to be exchange students at Empire University were handpicked by Lord Xi Le himself. They were among the younger Insectoids, full of potential, well-mannered, and not the type to cause trouble on Landis Star.
There were nine individuals in total. Xi Le scanned them and said seriously, "Beastmen have many merits that are worth our learning. The purpose of sending you is to learn humbly. You must not cause any trouble there. We want to maintain a good relationship with Landis Star, so anyone who causes trouble and affects the friendship between our two stars can expect to be punished!"
This decision came from Lord Insect God, so none of the Insectoids opposed it.
However...
One butterfly Insectoid asked with a smile, "Lord Xi Le, is it okay to fall in love with the beautiful girls of Landis Star?"
A few of them laughed.
Xi Le replied, "Proper romance, the consensual kind, is fine. But if I find out that you’re seducing the young girls of Landis Star, you’ll see what I’ll do to you!"
"We wouldn’t dare."
After speaking more about the rules, Xi Le waved the young Insectoids off. They grouped together and headed out.
"I heard that the young princess of the Gu Family is studying at Empire University, in the History Department!"
"Really? Do you think if she fell in love with me, it would promote friendly relations between our two stars even more?"
"Keep dreaming. Why would she like you, a fluttering butterfly? Because you’re pretty?"
"Go away, I take every relationship very seriously. Ah—"
