Inner Thoughts Exposed: Reborn General's Farming Daughter Has a System
Chapter 37: Xiao Qingya’s Trick
[Little Ya, you can’t put too much or too little into the water. The amount has to be right or it won’t work effectively.]
Xiao Qingya pursed her lips. Fortunately, the system had the space which was convenient to put these things away. They didn’t belong to this era, and it would easily create trouble if the things were revealed outside.
It was just that the space couldn’t store normal things, only the items she had received from the system. She just needed to take out the bottle of pesticide from the system and use it.
As the little one was busy thinking with her little brain, she didn’t notice that her mother and siblings were exchanging little glances.
[Will the color change if I put the pesticide liquid into the water?] She asked the System.
The System took a look at the brown liquid inside the bottle of pesticide.
[It seems to be the case, Little Ya. Look, the color of the pesticide is brown...]
One baby and one system were a little stumped. The System tried to find the solution for the problem.
Meanwhile, Zhou Anran and others also tried to find the solution.
Xiao Yuyan coughed softly. "Mother, are you and Elder Sister going back to pick up more water? I can take care of Little Ya."
She scooted closer to Zhou Anran and picked up Xiao Qingya from their mother’s lap, letting the little one sit beside her.
Zhou Anran was a little worried, but then she thought about the little one’s inner thoughts. She had been mumbling since earlier, brainstorming all sorts of ways she could use to divert their attention away.
Her little face was all scrunched up, making one wonder what kind of trouble she had if they couldn’t hear her thoughts.
"Alright. You two take care of your little sister. Don’t let her wander around," Zhou Anran reminded them. She glanced around the fields. There were other villagers who were also busy tending their fields.
She added, "if there’s anything, just shout. There are a lot of people here."
Compared to the houses in their village, the fields here were closer to each other. They could easily spot others among the green rice fields.
In some families with many sons, these sons would sometimes even sleep in the hut field during the night, trying to keep the birds away from their land.
They had to guard from a lot of things—some thieves would also occasionally appear.
This area used to be the most fertile land around their area. It was just lately that they found the land had become more dry, forcing them to find more water sources somewhere else.
Although the type of rice they planted didn’t need flooding on their fields, they still needed to water them a lot.
It was unknown whether their family was fortunate. The land they owned was less compared to other normal families, making it easier for them to take care of their rice plants.
Currently, they had a total of forty mu of land, divided into three types. Fifteen mu of rice plants would be ready for harvest in a few weeks. Another fifteen mu of land was filled with young rice plants. It would take them a while to grow before they bear rice.
The remaining ten mu of land was filled with vegetables such as water spinach and cabbages.
"We will take care of Little Ya, Mother," Xiao Yuyan answered softly, clenching her fists in determination.
Xiao Fenghao also nodded. He had hidden a knife somewhere in his body. Besides some fallen fruits to drive the birds away, he had pebbles that could be used as projectiles for his slingshot.
He was pretty confident in his aim.
Zhou Anran got up, followed by Xiao Yuxi. They headed to the river. Their figures finally got smaller until they disappeared from sight, covered by the tall trees.
Xiao Qingya snuck a glance at her older siblings. Her second brother was playing with the slingshot in his hand, occasionally shooting at the fields and scared the birds away. He had this wild aura belonging to a rebellious teenager.
Meanwhile, Xiao Yuyan was rinsing her hand on the wooden bucket she had carried.
The little one blinked, and she stood up, walking toward Xiao Fenghao. She slapped his feet with her little hand, giggling a little.
[They won’t find out what I am doing if I do this, right, System? I will pretend to wash my hand into the wooden bucket later. My hand is coated with mud from Second Brother’s feet now.]
The System praised her a few times, which bolstered her courage.
"Little Ya, that’s dirty." Xiao Fenghao played along upon receiving the hint from Xiao Yuyan. Fortunately, he followed her hint even though he didn’t understand Xiao Qingya’s purpose before she uttered them in her mind.
Xiao Qingya giggled again and didn’t listen. She even coated Xiao Fenghao’s face with the mud before running toward Xiao Yuyan’s side again.
She even stuck her tongue out in the challenge.
Xiao Fenghao was stunned. He had found that his sister had become much more lively after she regained her previous life’s memory. She finally behaved more like other children her age, more mischievous.
For him, it was a good thing. Previously, even their mother was worried about her mostly obedient yet dazed state. They even consulted Xiao Jingran’s master.
Only after the old physician assured them there was nothing wrong with Xiao Qingya did they feel relieved. They only attributed it to her current age, believing she was in the process of development.
With an evil smile, Xiao Fenghao got into the field hut and started crawling toward Xiao Qingya. The little one screamed and ran away, trying to get away from his grasp.
The siblings played around for a bit until they became all dirty.
Xiao Yuyan was rather speechless. She also got some mud on her hands and feet. Xiao Fenghao definitely did it on purpose!
"Little Ya, let’s wash our hands and feet, shall we? We can use the water from the wooden buckets."
The little one’s eyes lit up and she nodded furiously.
