[Yuelan’s POV]

In a completely endless white space where one couldn’t tell which way was up or down, two figures stood in front of each other, only mere meters apart.

"You know, this isn’t really what I expected," Yuelan said, twirling her sword between her fingers as she stared at Lin Fei.

"Why? Did you think I was going to fight you fair and square?" Lin Fei scoffed.

Yuelan shrugged. "I just expected more courtesy... Or I guess a smarter opponent. Do you really think it was wise to enter my mind?"

"Girl... I am more than three centuries older than you. I have seen arrogant geniuses like you rise and fall." He stepped forward and summoned a sword out of thin air, then pointed it at her. "I will kill you here, and then I will kill that annoying brat there. Tsk... So much potential wasted."

"Threatening to kill me? That’s fine," Yuelan said as a large amount of Qi suddenly burst from her. "But threatening to kill my brother is where I draw the line."

She entered her usual fighting stance and prepared her usual attacks. Yet unlike the previous times she had fought against powerful opponents, the air was different around her.

Noticing that, Lin Fei’s brows twitched, but just like Yuelan, he entered a fighting stance. However, before he could even make a single move, both of his arms went flying into the air as blood spurted out like a waterfall.

The only thing he heard was a faint click.

"Impossible...! A mere Spirit Master—"

Then another click.

His vision became inverted as his head was cleanly detached from his neck, plopping down on the white ground and staining it red.

Everything happened in less than a second.

She had unsheathed her sword and chopped off his arms. Then, she gave him a few milliseconds to react, but he stood like a bimbo.

And when that particular bimbo just threatened to kill her brother, Yuelan did the only logical thing, and that was to finish him off with one final slash.

Yuelan stomped her foot down onto the ground in annoyance.

Shaking her head, she scoffed at Lin Fei’s head.

"All that talk just to get one-tapped. Though it’s not my first mind battle, so you can come out now."

"You should consider joining us," Lin Fei’s voice rang out from behind her.

Turning around, she saw Lin Fei in perfect condition.

"No thanks," Yuelan replied. "Now, unless you want to keep losing, I suggest you leave."

Lin Fei smiled and tried to approach. However, he was stopped by the tip of Yuelan’s blade at his throat.

"Take one step closer and I’ll kill you 100 more times."

A shiver ran down Lin Fei’s spine. "Fine... I’ll stay here, but hear me out. I believe we’re not too far apart. We both strive for power no matter the cost, but we do it slightly differently."

"Oh? You think all of what I’m doing is just for power?" Yuelan giggled.

"Everyone does it for power." Lin Fei smiled. "There are rarely any exceptions. So while I’m—"

Yuelan suddenly stabbed downward, piercing straight through a black insect.

This is... It’s identical to the parasite that my Supreme Shadow Maid Harem found. So this guy’s true goal was to enslave me? How repulsive...

She flicked the black insect with the tip of her sword, and it landed straight on Lin Fei’s nose.

"I don’t know why you’re under the impression that I’m some flower. I’ve spent the last few months training my ass off to fight people like you. Having such a big ego for a mere Spirit Lord?" Yuelan sighed. "You really should know your place."

With those words, Lin Fei’s head went flying again. Yuelan had thought of hearing him out at first, but she knew that this old man was just trying to waste time and corrupt her mind.

So to avoid that, she continued killing him relentlessly. There were times he tried to get her to stop, but she wouldn’t.

The last couple of months taught her a lot. However, the biggest lesson she learned was to not trust anyone who had come from a different world. Especially not someone who has gone down the demonic path.

Though, Xuan did seem pretty strong. He told me he hasn’t used any Qi in the last two months, so I was scared he was going to get overwhelmed... But he actually held his own against this guy, Yuelan thought with a faint smile.

It was only natural she was much stronger than him. After all, she had spent the last few months collecting skills like Pokémon.

She brought down her sword and disintegrated what was left of him. Then, she sheathed her sword and closed her eyes, feeling her consciousness slipping back into her body.

And when she reopened her eyes, she realized she was lying on the ground. Or rather, she was lying on Xuan’s thighs. He worriedly held her head and caressed her hair, his hands trembling slightly.

When he realized that she had woken up, he let out a relieved breath as his trembling stopped.

Xuan flicked her forehead, a stern look on his face.

"Yuelan, what happened?"
