Chapter 191: I had no other choice
Amed gritted his teeth.
Blood from the corner of his mouth overflowed again.
"Room 2705..."
His voice was hoarse.
Ryu said in a low voice: "Master, right now we shouldn’t continue confronting them. At the very least, we need to wait until your injuries stabilize."
Amed suddenly turned his head to look at Ryu.
That gaze made Ryu immediately shut his mouth.
Amed’s eyes were bloodshot.
Not from crying.
But from hatred.
Hatred so intense that even his reason was being burned away bit by bit.
"You want me to hold back?"
Ryu lowered his head.
"I’m only worried about your body."
"My body?"
Amed laughed hoarsely.
Halfway through the laugh, he coughed violently, fresh blood spraying onto the table surface. But even so, the smile on his face didn’t disappear. On the contrary, it became increasingly twisted.
"My puppet is gone. My soul is wounded. The entire apartment complex watched me fail. And you’re telling me to rest?"
Ryu didn’t dare answer.
Amed braced himself to stand, but the moment he rose he staggered and nearly fell. Ryu hurriedly tried to support him, but was shaken off.
"Not enough."
Amed gasped for breath, his voice growing lower and lower.
"I alone am not enough." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
He understood.
No matter how much he hated, he couldn’t deny the strength of room 2705. Just the Tenants who had shown their faces already gave him enough pressure to feel, let alone the Owner of that room who hadn’t yet truly displayed his full capabilities.
If he continued using the same approach, he would only be walking toward death.
But that didn’t mean he would let it go.
No.
He only needed reinforcements.
He needed those who also wanted to watch room 2705 fall.
He needed those who were strong enough, greedy enough, and mad enough to drag that room down into the abyss together with him.
Amed opened the private communication interface.
Ryu saw his movement, his expression immediately changing.
"Master, are you planning to contact them?"
Amed didn’t answer.
He only scrolled down to a very deep, very old list, like a section of the interface he had deliberately hidden away for a long time.
Finally, his finger stopped on a name.
That name was written in dark red.
Just one look at it and Ryu already felt his throat go dry.
"Master, this is too dangerous. If they get involved, even we may not be able to control the consequences."
Amed looked at that name, the corner of his blood-stained lips slowly pulling up.
"I don’t need to control it."
Ryu stiffened.
Amed pressed on the communication interface.
The dark red light reflected onto his corpse-pale white face, making his expression even more ferocious.
"I only need room 2705 to disappear."
He paused for a moment, then ground out each word through his teeth.
"I want Rover and everyone in that room... to pay."
...
While Rover was still doubting whether letting Sunako down had been the right decision, he had discovered he’d underestimated this girl’s adaptability.
He had no idea where she had obtained a maid outfit.
Just a moment ago, Sunako had been a tangle of messy hair with clothes covered in spider silk, hugging Rover’s legs and crying like an abandoned little creature. Yet not even a few minutes later, when Rover returned to the living room, she had changed into a relatively fitting black-and-white maid dress and was standing obediently behind the sofa, her two hands placed on his shoulders, her expression so serious it seemed as though she had been doing this work for ten years.
Rover sat on the sofa, quietly experiencing two small hands kneading his shoulders.
Morie stood beside the tea table, her gaze pausing slightly on Sunako.
Elith leaned against the wall, her expression unchanged, but her gaze was clearly a bit colder.
Monica had just stepped out of the bedroom, and upon seeing this scene went slightly blank.
Even Thunder Dragon, lying beside them, raised its head. Its purple-black eyes looked at Sunako with a look of confusion.
Sunako was still completely at ease.
"Great Lord Rover, is this pressure level alright? If it’s too strong I can go lighter, if it’s too light I can go stronger. Although I don’t have outstanding combat talent, my ability to read faces and provide survival service is absolutely at expert level."
No one said anything.
The atmosphere in the room became strange for a few seconds.
Rover slowly turned his head to look at her.
"Where did this outfit come from?"
Sunako immediately answered with a face full of pride: "I asked Monica to lend it to me."
Monica slightly flushed, softly explaining: "She said... if she couldn’t find a position in the room, she would feel very uneasy."
Sunako immediately nodded rapidly.
"That’s right. A person without value is very easily discarded, and I’m someone with a very strong sense of danger awareness. So from now on, I’ve decided to become a backup maid, supplementary mascot, talking accessory, and if necessary, can also take on the role of Great Lord Rover’s professional audience."
Rover pressed his hand to his forehead.
"You don’t need that many occupations."
"That’s fine, I’m not afraid of hard work."
"The problem isn’t whether you’re afraid of hard work."
"Then does Great Lord Rover feel bad about me working hard?"
Sunako immediately became so moved that her eyes went slightly wet.
Rover: "..."
He discovered that talking with this girl was genuinely very easy to get pulled off track.
Thunder Dragon looked at Sunako and let out a soft sound.
Krit.
Sunako immediately bowed her head and said seriously: "Of course, while serving Great Lord Rover, I will always respect Great Lord Thunder Dragon. If Great Lord Thunder Dragon needs someone to polish its scales, I can also learn."
Thunder Dragon was slightly taken aback.
It lowered its head to look at its own glossy purple-black scales, seemingly genuinely thinking about whether this was something it needed.
Elith coldly said: "If you say ten more sentences, I will hang you back up."
Sunako immediately pressed her lips together. Her two hands were still placed on Rover’s shoulders, but her entire person became as obedient as a maid statue.
Rover breathed out a long sigh and finally decided to temporarily ignore her.
After all, compared to being hung on the wall and still talking nonstop, at least Sunako currently knew how to knead shoulders.
Not entirely useless.
Rover’s gaze very quickly fell on another person in the room.
The Ice Wolf General.
Or more precisely, the prisoner who had just been brought into room 2705.
She was sitting in a chair not far from the sofa. Elith’s spider silk still wrapped around her wrists, ankles, and waist, but it was no longer as rough as when she had been hung in the corridor. The cold aura on her body had been mostly sealed, and the poison from the [Frenzied Blood Spike Door] had also been temporarily suppressed, but her complexion was still very pale.
Her silvery-white hair fell onto her shoulders. Her azure blue eyes were cold like a frozen lake surface. Even though she was bound, her back was still straight. Her chin was slightly raised. She bore no resemblance whatsoever to a prisoner begging for her life.
That demeanor made Rover slightly pleased.
He didn’t like the weak and cowardly.
Of course, the weak and cowardly who knew how to make money or knew how to provide good service weren’t entirely unkeepable.
But a high-level combat force with clear pride still made him feel more value.
Rover looked at her for a moment, then asked: "Name?"
The Ice Wolf General was silent for a beat.
"Rilia."
Her voice was cold, slightly hoarse from her injuries, but still very steady.
Rover nodded.
"Rilia. I heard you agreed to surrender."
Rilia looked at him.
"I had no other choice."
