Chapter 36: Blood at night

Leo and his father were stunned. They both looked at Ken in the way you looked at something so unexpected.

"You brat!" Leo yelled. He charged forward in an attempt to do something to Ken, but then Ken looked right at him. "If your finger touches me, you lose the entire arm." His tone said it all. He would do that in a heartbeat.

Leo froze in that position. He looked at Ken, eager to take the next step but knowing the risk that came with it.

Leo’s father looked at Lumeria. "Sister, are you going to allow this human to disrespect your brother and nephew?"

"The elders are not here, Luke, drop the good act," Lumeria said. She rolled her eyes and used her hand to support her forehead. "I’m only accepting because of the elders, so do not push your luck with me."

Luke clenched his fist when he heard that. He took a very deep breath and then replaced his expression with a smile. "Don’t be like that, sis. I simply don’t want an outsider to have any sort of power here," he spoke calmly, like he was reasonable. "You do remember what happened the last time we let an outsider have a say in what we do?" He looked right at Lumeria while a slight grin tugged at the side of his lips.

Lumeria stared back at him. Her hand clutched the armrest tight and her anger burned. "If you want to see what happens when you speak too much, keep talking. I’ll make you into a stain on the ground and tell the elders that your heart got corrupted."

Her aura spiked immensely. Ken could tell that Luke didn’t plan for this as well. He stepped back in fear as he watched the eyes of his sister glow in rage.

He clenched his fist tight. "Tch, I’m sorry," he said, then turned to leave. "Leo, let us go."

Leo was shocked by this change of events. He looked at his father with complete confusion, but regardless, he followed, glancing at Ken one last time before he left.

As soon as the door closed behind them, Lumeria heaved a sigh of relief. She looked up at Ken. "Sorry that you had to witness this."

"No, it’s fine. Dogs should be kept in their place," he replied, not caring one bit about the fact that he was her brother.

"Indeed," she replied. "Since we have agreed on everything that’s needed, then I guess this is all. You can stay here for the night as it is already late." She offered him the opportunity to stay there. Luna looked at him eagerly, wanting him to agree, but then he shook his head.

"I’d like to return back. Every moment of training matters, especially with the threat being a few days away."

"I see. Well then, we will see each other in a few days’ time," she replied and then got up, leaving through one of the corner doors with Sierra following behind.

Luna rushed to him immediately. She grabbed his hands and pulled them forward. "It worked out, I can’t believe it worked. Also, you standing up to my uncle was impressive, especially since you did it for me." Her cheeks turned rosy when she got to this point. She looked away, embarrassed.

Ken looked at her reaction. He let out a smile and then patted her head. "No one is touching you when I’m here."

They got to talk to each other a bit, and then finally, Ken left. She walked him to the gate of the village under the light of the moon. When they got there, she hugged him tight as goodbye and then he finally left, walking back into the normal forest.

The moment that he left, her gaze changed, and her normally green eyes instantly turned blood red. The bubbly character was gone and all that remained was a cold-blooded face.

She walked out of the village, following a different route from Ken. She walked through the forest in the dark, and yet her footsteps could not be heard, only her glowing red eyes.

From a distance, she could see Ken walking, but her attention was not on him. After a minute of walking, she spotted the first one. An elf was hidden behind a bush with an arrow in hand, already pulled and waiting for the right moment to shoot.

"How dare you?" she growled. The elf heard that and turned around, but before he could utter a single word, a vine shot out of the ground and wrapped around his head, mouth, and neck, lifting the elf off the ground.

She looked at the elf the same way you looked at someone who you had decided was trash. In one thought, the vine squeezed hard and snapped the neck, killing the elf. She then proceeded to use the vines to pull the elf deep underground, at least ten feet, while she walked away at the same time.

Not long after, she found the second, and that one had a sword, ready to backstab, only for her to get him, use a vine, and run it through the guts of the elf. She ripped him from the inside and killed him before pulling the body underground as well.

Her cold progression did not stop at all. She kept moving with steady steps. One after the other, like the angel of death, Luna killed nine elves in total and buried their bodies deep into the ground, and there was not a hint of emotion or remorse on her face.

When she was done, she turned around and retreated back to the village. The moment she stepped in, she saw Sierra standing there and waiting for her.

"How many were they?" Sierra asked like she knew what had happened.

Luna’s blood red eyes faded away and she returned to normal.

"Nine, I don’t want to talk about it," Luna responded. "If uncle tries to hurt Ken again, I’ll make sure he vanishes from the tribe forever."
