I'll Just Be Overpowered
Chapter 35: I’ll kill you
Ken and Lyman headed back to see her mother, but as they opened the door and walked in, they saw a blonde male elder there. He was an adult elf, dressed like royalty, and beside him was the best that they had met, Leo.
Ken watched as the expression of Luna darkened the very moment she saw them. She tried to hide it, but her eyes betrayed her. She walked in with her steps now heavier than normal, her eyes locked ahead.
"Greetings, Luna," the man said with a nod, only for her to turn and glare at him. "You’ll address me as the young mistress, uncle." She was blunt with it, her tone telling them she was not here to play.
He was Leo’s father, her mother’s brother. Normally that would mean family, but not in this case, as she knew what sort of man he was and what he could do.
"Luna, don’t be rude to your uncle," her mother said, trying her hardest to ensure that she looked calm and collected.
"No, no, it was my mistake. The young mistress is growing to become the next ruler here, and also, she’ll be the one that merges us back with humans, she deserves the respect," her uncle said, trying to sound good, but everyone here already knew the kind of person that he was.
He was a slithering and sneaky snake, he plotted in the dark and then executed, so the fact that he was here told them that he had something planned out.
Luna eyed him up and down and then walked to the side of her mother. She stood there and looked down at both of them. Ken stood by their side, unbothered.
"I heard the details of your fight with Sierra," Lumeria started. She had a soft smile on her face as she spoke.
"I was very impressed, a young human capable of such levels of strength. You have proven that when it comes to it, you can fight and protect Luna."
"That much was expected from the start," Ken replied casually.
"Then, everything has now been set. In the coming days, we will prepare the forest for war against the demonic humans, and our best fighters will be there. We will use the forest to ensure that we stop and eradicate them.
You and your town can rest easy, demons may be tough, but demonic humans would be a walk in the dark park for us," she explained.
"I’m sorry, but I refuse to sit while you all do the work, there is no negotiating that. I’ll fight alongside you," Ken stated.
Her eyes widened slightly, someone was given the opportunity to avoid conflict, and yet he chose it. What level of pride was this?
"I have a question as well, forgive my ignorance, but I hear demonic humans, and I want to know what exactly they are?" Ken asked. Elves were castigated when they helped the demons, so he wanted to know if these demonic humans were actually humans that became some sort of demons and then worked for them, because that would make demons hypocrites.
"I see why you are asking," Lumeria started. "You want to know why humanity doesn’t face attacks when they also have demonic humans. Well, demonic humans are humans or any humanoid race that has sold their soul to the demons for power and have now become their puppets.
This is an individualistic choice that each person made so that they could serve the demons.
As for what the elves did years ago, it was different. A whole race was made to look like we did that, especially the race that holds one of the most important things in the world, the World Tree.
Elves failed back then, and that’s why the hate directed at them is this monumental." She explained in as much detail as she could.
Ken now had the picture of the difference, though he still found it a bit problematic. Humans must have known the details of what really happened, but those at the top must have intentionally kept it a secret from the commoners, or gave them the bare minimum of information.
’I’m certain it’s to ensure they have an upper hand over a race that is actually stronger than them. They probably feared what the elves could do or become if they were left alone normally.’
"That’s all, I’m willing to work with you in any capacity," Ken said, ensuring that he said work with you, getting the point across on what type of partnership this would be.
"Sorry for interrupting, but I’d like to say there has been a slight addition," Leo’s father suddenly spoke, looking calm and holy at the moment.
"I spoke with the elders of the tribe that regardless of how the young mistress feels, it is still far too unsafe for her to be with a human alone.
They agreed on this, and they have agreed that Leo should go along with her on this mission," he spoke with confidence.
Lumeria frowned, she knew the game that he was playing at, it was clear as day.
"What?! Mother, you can’t allow this, I do not want to travel with Leo," Luna protested.
Leo stood there with a victorious smile on his face, like he had won the battle.
"I’m sorry, Luna, but the elders have decided. It took a lot to allow you to leave in the first place, if this is what they are asking for, we have to honor it, no matter how inconvenient." She explained.
Suddenly, Ken spoke. "I have no issues with him coming with us, but I want to make one thing perfectly clear.
If he tries anything, touches, or harms Luna in any way, I’ll do what I was asked to do, and that means I will kill him on the spot."
The air got tense instantly, no one expected what Ken said.
Ken looked at Leo. "I’m not afraid to say what her majesty and Luna will not say. You and your father have planned out something, but whatever it is, ensure it comes nowhere close to Luna, or you will die."
