Chapter 150: What

The grey fur on it is a dead giveaway and even the five other monsters that surrounded it have some change to their fur. Alex released his aura pressure and the air grew heavy, ripping around him like flame. "Let’s see just how well you can hold up against this."

The Alpha didn’t move, but the fire exploded forward, fangs and claws extended as if they had been waiting for just this. Alex whirled his sword and slashed horizontally, but it didn’t produce the intended result.

Two of the monsters crouched and then, with his belly exposed, jumped in. Fortunately for Alex, he was already holding his formation, and he sent lightning arrows between his stomach and them.

They flinched back, but it was too late, and they got lighting to their face. Alex wanted to finish them off but the rest are already shaping towards him unprotected back.

Alex grimaced, then he forged his legs with essence and tried one of Stallus’s techniques. In the seconds that the monsters jumped him, he paused to settle, then he exposed into a spin, swinging his sword with it.

He briefly became a tornado of blades and one of the monster’s head detached from its body. Another was cut in the shoulder so deeply it bit into its chest and effectively removed it from the fight. Now, only three wargs remained, and they became more cautious when they realized that Alex couldn’t just be defeated with numbers alone.

Alex smiled at the space they created between him and them; he was very bothered about them, but what made him twitch was the Alpha. The way it watched him with those eyes as if reading his every move.

It made it impossible for Alex to ignore its presence, it’s like a bonfire burning close by. It’ll continue to draw the eyes. But since it’s not making a move then it’s better to focus on the other three.

They snared and growled, an l, ow, deep rumbling in their aches and t, and then they spread out and began to circle him. Alex didn’t turn to follow them when his senses could do just as well; his eyes were locked only on the one in front of him.

Alex tensed when he saw they were ready to move; he held the formation tightly in his mind because he already guessed the type of attack they would go for.

And just like he predicted, the one in front of him roared, making a loud noise to grab his attention, and then it leaped towards him, waving its claws.

It’s a strategic move; the one in front will distract him, and the other two will finish him off. Unfortunately, it wasn’t that simple because when the warg in front came at it, Alex simply blew its head off with a lightning arrow and then spun and kicked the one to his left.

It gave him a chance to finish off the one coming from the right before the one he kicked down stood. "Azaroth likes to use this strategy a lot when fighting, unlike me, who likes all my opponents to come at me at once."

The warg didn’t stand a chance.

He turned to the leader. "You are the last one remaining."

By far, the Alpha boss seemed to be the calmest monster Alex had ever seen, its dark red eyes looking at him with such hatred, and yet his body did no more than a ripple. Then it stood, a head taller than the others; the monster crouched and still studying Alex.

’What’s it doing? Trying to intimidate me? Sure, I can feel the pressure, but I’m not a pushover either. Will will stand like this looking at each other? For how long?’ Alex thought.

Just then, he saw something that made him begin to start swinging his sword vertically from the shoulder. It was a small twitch of the legs, a small flexing. Some people might not have taken it into account, but with all the crypt hunting he’s been doing for months, his senses are sharper. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

The monster thundered forward, a lightning-fast blur of grey fur, and was in front of Alex in an instant. His sword and the monster’s claw clashed as it slapped his sword away.

"What," Alex grunted, his hand shuddering. That much power in just a simple slap! This monster is strong and fast. He reached for his formation, but the monster wasn’t giving him any rest and was on him in a flash.

Unlike the other Wargs, the monster didn’t fight like them; it fought as if its claws and fangs were equipped weapons. Using the claws like daggers to deflect his sword and his fangs to keep Alex from leaping for an overhead swing.

And the two claws were fast, so fast that Alex was doing everything just to keep himself from getting torn to shreds. And since his sword is long, he needed to keep a certain amount of distance between himself and his enemies so he could extract as much power from each swing.

The Alpha wasn’t giving him such distance and thus refused the chance of a decisive strike. Worse, the monster’s fur is like Iron which made it have to deal even the tiniest damage.

He focused his essence on his hands, but even that wasn’t enough because if the monster wasn’t taking damage, Alex was! His hands were already bloodied from where a claw or two caught him, but the monster’s hand was getting closer and closer to his throat.

Alex realized he had to do something, or he might die.

So he shoved his formation together and waited for his chance; when the Alpha made a move towards his neck again, he angled the sword straight and pierced its right hand, cutting into claws and fingers.

The monster yelped and slapped him on the shoulder with its left hand, then it gave him distance, licking its hand while it kept its dark eyes on Alex.

Even with the pain flaring on his shoulder, he breathed a sigh of relief.
