I can upgrade the shelter - Chapter 486 - 484: Starting the Journey Home
Since the decision to return has been made, without worrying about the situation over there with Lucia, Chen Xin and the officer naturally began to pack up their things, preparing to head back.
Although the various instruments and equipment brought along hardly had any use, they were still moved into the base, and now all of these things have to be packed up and placed back onto the vehicles.
As for the various materials they found in this military base, there are designated people to handle and bring these back.
Other valuable items found in this sealed military base, some were loaded onto the train, while the remaining were placed onto the two Mobile Bases.
Though Chen Xin did not design a large load and storage capacity for the Mobile Bases, they can still hold quite a few things.
After all, the garage at the bottom and the hangar at the top are still empty, and in a pinch, these places can temporarily be used as storage.
In fact, the garages and hangars on the two Mobile Bases are currently filled with some well-preserved Suyia-era military equipment and a few aircraft collected from this military base.
These items, although decades old, still have designs that hold significant reference value even today. Since they can be taken away, they might as well be brought back to give Flame Country’s designers, who have inherited the Suyia equipment design lineage, some reference.
It’s worth noting that while Flame Country received quite a bit of Suyia equipment and related materials back then, many of these materials were incomplete, or an entire series of steps from one to ten was missing.
Flame Country may only have two, four, six, and to fill in the missing one, three, and five, and make it all the way to ten, Flame Country’s researchers have expended unimaginable effort and dedication.
Among the process from one to ten, what’s here might only be seven or even five, but this can fill in the gaps that Flame Country lacked back then.
More importantly, this was once a secret military base of Suyia used for testing experimental equipment. What was sent here was often the work of Suyia’s creative designers of the time.
Even though many of these items were deemed by the leaders of Suyia at the time to have no value for mass production or equipping the entire army, they still represented the pinnacle achievements in military technology of the Red Giant during the Cold War, which once left the world out of breath.
Even after thirty-odd years, some of this equipment still holds cross-era significance with extraordinary creativity.
Although these items may not have much practical use anymore, they provide more ideas and references for current equipment development.
After loading everything onto the Mobile Base and the train, and redistributing the supplies brought with them, and with drivers already assigned to the two Mobile Bases, Chen Xin and the others finally left this dusty old Suyia military base, beginning their return journey.
As for this military base, it will remain sealed again, left here as is.
Perhaps, years later, when the ice and snow melt, someone will tread this ground again and uncover it, telling people about a past, once a country named Suyia.
Feeling the vibrations transmitted from beneath his feet, Chen Xin stood inside the command room of a Mobile Base, watching the giant spotlight at the front of the Mobile Base illuminate the road ahead through the window. Chen Xin asked the train captain beside him, who was in charge of guiding: "What is our current speed?"
"Report, our current speed is 21km/h." The train captain quickly inquired the situation from the engine room’s cockpit, and then reported to Chen Xin.
Chen Xin nodded slightly; although this speed didn’t reach his expected 30-40km/h, considering the road conditions and their fully loaded state, this speed was acceptable.
"Maintain this speed and keep moving forward." Chen Xin said, nodding at the captain, then left the command center.
The driving is mainly handled by the cockpit of the engine room, while the command center is responsible for the overall command of the Mobile Base. It sounds a bit odd, but the command center here doesn’t directly manage the driving of this Mobile Base.
After leaving the command center, Chen Xin didn’t head to the crew cabin to rest; instead, he went down to the engine room and entered the cockpit.
Compared to the command center, the vibrations on this level were noticeably greater, which made Chen Xin take notice, silently reminding himself to work on enhancing the Mobile Base’s shock absorption later.
However, Chen Xin, having felt it carefully, noticed that besides the vibrations from the tracks making contact with the ground at the base, most of the vibrations originated from the various equipment operating within the engine room.
This is quite like a ship or warship, where the engine room is always the noisiest and has the worst conditions on a vessel. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Yet simultaneously, it is also the most critical part of a vessel, for if the engine room malfunctions, the ship cannot move.
Similarly, for this Mobile Base, the engine room is just as vital.
There are a few soldiers responsible for maintenance here; they were originally tank drivers. Compared to tanks and armored vehicles, the Mobile Base undoubtedly offers much more spacious room, with relatively less exaggerated vibrations.
Thus, even though the noise and vibration in the engine room are not insignificant, for these tank soldiers who are accustomed to using communicators due to the loudness inside tanks where vibrations can throw them around, the environment here is actually quite alright.
After greeting the few soldiers, Chen Xin then entered the cockpit.
The cockpit, like the command center, allows a view outside, but the view from the cockpit is distinct; it mainly shows the massive barrier breaker at the front, crushing and clearing all obstacles along the Mobile Base’s path forward.
This massive barrier breaker mainly derives from the original land cruiser design, though Suyia’s original design utilized a massive toothed roller, Chen Xin modified it into something akin to a hybrid of a comb and a shovel.
This colossal barrier breaker levels the uneven road surfaces appropriately, pushing aside or destroying obstacles like stones or trees.
Consequently, when looking out from the cockpit, what can be seen is just this immense barrier breaker blocking the entire front of the Mobile Base, along with the snowflakes and wood chips flying everywhere beneath it.
The Siberian forest trees are very tall, and even with the snow cover, a substantial number of trees still protrude from the ground, hence to proceed forward, these trees exposed above the snow must be felled.
Using the barrier breaker, however, directly shreds them.
