Jason and Adele sat at a table, a few plates of food in front of them and judging by the remaining quantities of the dishes, it was clear that they had been there for a little while and were almost done dining.
They had arrived a while ago after leaving the airport and for the two hungry partners, they had focused more on ordering their food and eating it as soon as it came than conversing, but they werenât silent either.
They were just a lot more focused on filling the empty space in their stomachs.
âSo, you were saying something about endorsements,â Jason asked Adele, taking a napkin to wipe a little smudge of food on the corner of her mouth.
âYeah, your stock is shooting through the roof right now, and quite a lot of companies have reached out to me regarding endorsements,â Adele began, barely reacting to Jasonâs gesture.
âIâve had to do a lot of screening to grade the offers according to what you want, but I havenât made any decisions on your behalf yet,â she continued as she and Jason had discussed endorsements before.
Jason was open to endorsements as long as⊠according to his words, âThe pay fit their demandsâ.
In addition to that, Jason didnât want an endorsement that would require him to spend too much time at promotion events⊠unless they could somehow fork out enough money for him to not mind doing it, but he doubted it as he had pretty steep demands.
âAnyway, what types of offers did you receive?â He asked Adele.
âWell, for starters, you have some for sportswear⊠literally boots,â
âYou have some from designer cloth brands, some from less expensive clothing brands, some from sport betting companies, some from self-care companies,â Adele listed out, her words impressing Jason.
âAnd one particularly funny one,â she added.
âWhatâs funny about it?â Jason asked, wondering what could be funny about an endorsement deal.
âWell⊠itâs from a condom company,â Adele said and started laughing immediately.
âPf!â Jasonâs napkin clamped over his mouth just in time to stop him from spitting out the contents of his mouth all over the table and onto Adele.
âWhat the actual fu*k!?â he asked only after he was sure that he had swallowed everything in his mouth.
âWhy would they even make an offer to me for godâs sake?â he asked almost tearfully.
âIâm a football player, not a third-rate actor with different jobs whose only duty is to spray man-batter everywhere,â He muttered, face palming.
âOkay, wow. I have to say⊠Iâve never heard someone describe a pornstar like that. Sounds exactly like Johnny Sins,â Adele managed to say in-between laughs.
âYou dirty-minded girl, how do you even know who that is?â Jason retorted in shock.
âHuh, hello, something called the internet,â Adele replied, holding up her phone.
âWell, have you ever heard that everyone with one of these has a personified algorithm that is made from their interests?â Jason shot back.
âThe phone is almost never going to show you something that youâve never been interested in or at least shown some interest in something similar previously,â he continued, eyeing her suspiciously.
âWhatever it is youâre insinuating, I donât like it,â Adele stared back at him suspiciously.
âI ainât insinuating nothing. Why would I be bothered if youâre learning the Gawk Gawk 3000?â
âIâm gonna be on the receiving end of that bit*h in the future. Far be it from me to stop you,â Jason snickered, picking up his glass of wine and taking a sip while Adele just stared at him with her mouth agape as her face turned red. áčĂ€êÈźêĂSÌ©
âDonât stop at the Gawk Gawk 3000. You can learn a few other techniques. Just nothing that has to do with me being on the receiving end⊠from behind,â Jason shivered as the image flashed across his mind.
Adeleâs face had already turned redder than a tomato at this point, but just in time to save her, the waiter arrived with the bill, breaking the atmosphere and allowing Adele to regain control of her emotions.
As soon as the waiter moved, she opened her mouth to speak, wanting to move to the next topic of conversation, which also happened to be very important.
âI figured out why the clubs had gone silent previously,â Adele said, putting a napkin on the table after wiping her mouth.
âHmmm?â Jasonâs eyes shot up, and his ears perked up immediately.
This was a matter that had been troubling him for a little while, and it was good now that Adele seemed to have found out what was going on.
âActually, itâs kind of your fault⊠and also not your fault at the same time. Itâs also kind of my fault, or like I also had a hand in it too,â Adele began, her words confusing.
âWhat do you mean?â Jason asked, confused.
âOkay, first, donât get mad⊠please,â Adele began.
â⊠Thatâs worrying, but okay, Iâll do my best not to get angry,â Jason replied after a little pause, not able to outrightly promise as he didnât know the future and didnât want to go back on his word a few seconds after saying it.
âOkay, so you remember that YouTube show about that investigator guy? The one where they found out about the whole Sophia, Mylo thing,â Adele began.
âHow could I forget,â Jason nodded affirmatively.
âWell, because of that itâs become very clear that you wonât be signing a new contract with Oporto no matter whatever they bring to the table,â Adele continued.
âAnd?â Jason urged her to explain faster, his curiosity eating through him.
âOkay, let me paint the picture for you. Imagine if one of the best youth talents in world football is up for sale in the current football world, what do you think will happen?â Adele asked.
âIâm guessing you mean me, but I guess my price will be high and there will be a huge bidding war between the big teams to try to try to add me to their roster,â Jason answered.
âOkay, now, what if it has been confirmed that this player will not be signing a contract with his own club and there is less than a year until his contract runs out?â Adele asked another question.
â⊠Oh.â
