Ghost Catching System - Chapter 392 King Chu’s Tomb Opens_1
The crowd was elated, finally spotting the coffin. Perhaps there are treasures inside, they thought.
In the Chu Kingdom, various generals commanded troops from all directions. They possessed not only military acumen but also exceptional martial skills. A great general could slaughter dozens of ordinary soldiers with ease, thanks to their superior martial techniques. These generals had little interest in wealth. Instead, they favored having the martial arts manuals they had learned during their lifetimes placed in their coffins with them.
There might indeed be treasures inside! Zuo Lingyun was excited. He looked at Su Changyu and asked, "Third Master, is it alright to touch this coffin?"
After performing a divination, Su Changyu nodded and said, "It’s harmless."
The Zuo Family members were overjoyed. If they could acquire a single martial arts manual, they would make a fortune. The Yan Family had become Demon Slayers because they had studied such manuals. These manuals enhanced their physiques to be double that of an ordinary person and extended their lifespans. The Zuo Family, on the other hand, only possessed tomb-raiding skills and physical conditioning.
Chu Hao interjected, "Hold on."
Everyone turned towards him.
Chu Hao said to Su Changyu, "Half of the ancient tomb’s contents are mine, as we agreed before. I claim the items in the coffin."
Upon hearing this, Zuo Lingyun’s expression turned unsightly. I was hoping to open the coffin myself and find some valuable items! he fumed inwardly.
Su Changyu looked somewhat troubled and glanced at Zuo Baoshan.
Zuo Baoshan’s expression was icy, revealing no emotion, but one could sense the effort he was making to remain impassive.
Chu Hao ignored their reactions, moved to the front of the coffin, and pushed it open.
As expected, there was a weathered corpse inside. Beside the body were two books and some scattered jade pieces.
Chu Hao picked up the books. They were remarkably well-preserved, having been treated with ancient preservation techniques, and were coated in oil.
"DING... The Host has acquired Po Jun Fist. The content can be learned and also exchanged for Pretentiousness Points," the System announced.
Overjoyed, Chu Hao said, "Learn it."
"DING... The Host has learned Po Jun Fist, expending 4,000 Pretentiousness Points," the System reported.
Chu Hao opened the System store. Learning Po Jun Fist there required 8,000 Pretentiousness Points, so acquiring it for 4,000 points was quite a bargain.
After he learned it, the Po Jun Fist book vanished.
The other book was on military strategy, which was not much use to him, so he exchanged it for 1,000 Pretentiousness Points.
Zuo Lingyun observed Chu Hao. A wide, beaming smile spread across his face, but inwardly he was seething. This guy must have gotten something good!
However, he had an agreement with Su Changyu. Turning on each other now wouldn’t benefit anyone, especially since only Chu Hao could open King Chu’s Tomb.
There was also a stone seal, about the size of a palm, with a fire-pattern totem on it.
Chu Hao took it out; he vaguely recognized it. Its design was somewhat similar to the coffin, and there was a slot on the dais that seemed perfectly sized for it.
Astonished, Chu Hao picked up the stone seal and was about to place it in the slot when the others stopped him.
"Don’t touch anything!"
The group broke into a cold sweat. What is he trying to do this time?
They had already suffered greatly from a previously triggered trap. If they didn’t know how capable he was, they might have mistaken him for a novice.
Chu Hao was displeased. By now, he wasn’t afraid of traps, unless their power exceeded that of modern weaponry.
Zuo Baoshan approached and said, "Let me have a look."
Chu Hao tossed it to him and crossed his arms, watching from the side.
After much deliberation, they arrived at several conclusions.
Zuo Baoshan said, "This stone pattern seems to be a symbol of royal importance. The Chu Kingdom reveres the phoenix and cherishes red, venerates fire and worships the sun, is fond of shamans, and is close to ghosts. The Chu people believe they are descendants of the Sun God and direct heirs of the Fire God. Both sun and fire are red; hence, red is held in esteem."
"This must be the item that opens King Chu’s Tomb!" Little Ying said excitedly.
They had finally found it, and surprisingly easily.
But, when they placed the stone seal into the slot and spun it several times, there was still no reaction.
Su Changyu pointed at the fire pattern on the dais and said, "This is a blood groove; it should require the blood of a descendant of King Chu."
All eyes turned to Chu Hao, burning with anticipation. He was the only descendant of King Chu present, possessing a 0.01% bloodline connection; only he could open King Chu’s Tomb.
Finally, the critical moment had arrived. As long as Chu Hao opened King Chu’s Tomb, everyone else could logically enter as well.
Zuo Lingyun sneered. By then, I’ll be able to set a trap to kill Chu Hao.
Chu Hao wasn’t stupid; how could he not see the true colors of these people?
So what if I open King Chu’s Tomb? An AA-grade mission is hidden inside. Do these scumbags really think they can get their hands on its rewards? Ridiculous!
Chu Hao stepped forward. All eyes were fixed on him, and those lurking in the shadows also watched his every move.
In a corner, Yan Chen licked his lips and said, "Go ahead and open it. You’ll learn what happens when you cross me."
Chu Hao cut his finger and let the blood drip onto the stone seal, but after a while, there was still no response.
Zuo Baoshan pointed at the blood groove pattern and said, "You probably have to fill the entire blood groove."
Chu Hao was speechless.
Me, Brother Hao, shed so much blood? What a joke! He was extremely reluctant; besides, he feared nothing else, only pain.
Su Changyu said with a forced smile, "Young friend Chu, this is our agreement."
Chu Hao sneered inwardly. He took out a Demon-catching Talisman and released the Painted Skin Ghost. It’s time for you to take the stage.
As soon as the Painted Skin Ghost appeared, it looked at Chu Hao warily.
Chu Hao said coldly, "Merge with my blood and fill up this blood groove. Then I might consider letting you live."
The Painted Skin Ghost trembled with fear. It had no choice but to comply. After consuming a drop of Chu Hao’s blood, it began to use its Evil Technique to replicate it.
It slashed its wrist, and blood dripped continuously, finally filling the blood groove.
The moment the blood groove filled, the coffin on the dais moved slightly, then began to shake violently. The coffin rose, and a spiral staircase leading down to the main tomb entrance appeared before everyone’s eyes. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"It’s actually here!" someone exclaimed.
They were ecstatic; they had finally found the entrance to King Chu’s Tomb.
Just then, a series of piercing and eerie sounds came from below.
There were women crying, children laughing, men howling like tortured souls—a mixture of noises blended together, as if emanating from Hell itself.
A chill ran down everyone’s spines. This place is definitely not simple.
SWOOSH...
A dark figure darted out from the main tomb. None of those present caught a clear glimpse. The shadow flashed past and disappeared into the darkness.
Cold sweat broke out on everyone. Could there actually be living things inside a tomb thousands of years old?
Chu Hao was also surprised. The thing had disappeared in an instant; even he hadn’t seen clearly what it was.
HEE HEE...
Within King Chu’s Tomb, strange laughter echoed. It seemed as if something below was watching them all.
The group swallowed nervously and, bracing themselves, advanced. If their opponents were ghosts, there were quite a few among them capable of exorcism.
They walked downward, estimating they had descended at least fifty meters, when they reached a vast hall with eight doorways.
Su Changyu began his calculations but soon looked perplexed. "I can’t figure it out. The Ancestral Vein here is interfering with my metaphysical abilities."
Su Muyue also tried to make a calculation. She used three Copper Coins and made several attempts, shaking her head each time. On her fifth try, she suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood, shocking everyone.
