Chapter 2019 - 1580: Perilous Overwrite
After the Information Storm ceased, Ange opened the largest page of the Stacked Clone, allowing everyone’s consciousness to project in. Then, they saw a God Star continuously collapsing, from a massive God Star into a gigantic Abyss, and then spewing out a huge pillar of Information Storm.
The Information Storm was invisible to the naked eye, but the green Lightning entwined at the edges was densely visible. All the information and Lightning finally converged into that despairing and resentful question: "What are you?"
"What... what happened? Ange, why does this Stacked Piece feel particularly large, is it the Star Soul Stacked Piece of Dis?" Negris asked hesitantly.
Ange nodded.
In the Consciousness Space, they couldn’t see Ange’s figure, but the information of him nodding instantaneously appeared in everyone’s consciousness, making everyone aware that he nodded.
Negris was too exhausted to even quip; in the past, Ange would at least say a few words in the Consciousness Space, but now he wouldn’t even speak, merely transmitting the information of his actions into everyone’s consciousness, such laziness was truly something he had to admire.
"What exactly happened? What was Dis wailing about at the end?" Negris asked, puzzled.
Wasn’t Dis saying he would erupt, delivering his memories and knowledge to Ange? Why did it end in such resentment and despair? Did he miss something?
Ange did not speak, but allowed Dis within the Stacked Piece to slowly operate, gradually demonstrating the entire event until everyone realized how perilous a trick Ange had endured.
"If a God Star possesses only ten percent of its own memory and knowledge, while ninety percent belongs to another God Star, then is it truly itself, or is it the other God Star?" After watching the demonstration, Ursman questioned.
This question hit the nail on the head, instantly enlightening the previously bewildered audience to Dis’ sinister intentions.
Negris slapped his waist in shock: "He mistook Ange for a God Star, deceiving him into accepting the transfer of knowledge and memory, attempting to use the Information Storm to flood Ange’s consciousness, thus occupying Ange’s being?"
"Is that even possible? It’s merely an overwhelming amount of information, not an invasion, can it achieve the effect of occupying another God Star?" Anthony asked.
The person most qualified to answer this was naturally Luomu Luo’er, though he is merely an Attached Star, yet still a God Star.
Luomu Luo’er replied: "Just as Ursman asked, with ninety percent of the knowledge and memories belonging to someone else, am I still myself?"
"I don’t think I would be. Our memories as God Stars are too vast, accumulated over countless ages, too overwhelming even for us to recall instantly, requiring us to delve into our consciousness, find the memory from that period, and then reopen it."
"If every time I opened my memory, it belonged to another God Star, would I still be me? Certainly not, so such an occupation is feasible for a God Star." Luomu Luo’er concluded.
Pausing, Luomu Luo’er added: "Besides, Dis has already entered a period of exhaustion, any method that could sustain him is feasible, and he seemingly attempted more than just information flooding, sending his thoughts over at the end."
If it were merely the transmission of an Information Storm, Dis wouldn’t have had that final outcry, only upon colliding, realizing that the other party was not a God Star but Ghost Stacks, did he despairingly roar.
Negris shivered: "Alright, I get it now, the Void is incredibly dangerous, if Ange truly were a God Star, foolishly waiting there and then being engulfed by the Information Storm and stuffed with a load of non-belonging memories... it’s terrifying to even imagine."
Anthony was still somewhat confused: "Master God could possibly be a God Star, or possibly not, such uncertainty is a massive risk, why did Dis not choose a more secure target, like those God Stars without developed consciousness?"
The God Stars with consciousness within the Void have essentially hidden themselves, those not hiding are either without consciousness or are vicious characters like a depleted Dis.
Those God Stars without consciousness did not hide at all; Dis could have entirely covered one of the brightest, so why choose an unknown like Ange?
Luomu Luo’er said: "Without a Star Soul, he cannot cover it; the most his Information Storm could do is spray an unowned God Star, trigger a wave of a Star Crown, and later birth some Star Descendants related to him, then nothing more."
"Oh, oh, oh, without a Star Soul, he can’t cover it, I see now, I understand." That was the reason, Anthony initiated complex thoughts, assuming there were other restrictions.
Without a Star Soul, it cannot be covered; the majority possessing Star Souls have hidden themselves, hence Dis first sent out mass-space tremors, receiving Ange’s response, assuming anyone capable of responding in such a manner would definitely be a God Star, yet who could have foreseen...
"It’s just his bad luck." Negris cursed, then asked: "What about the gains? Besides this large Stacked Piece, are there any other gains?"
"Knowledge, memories." Ange’s voice reverberated within the Consciousness Space.
"Uh, just this?" Negris said disparagingly.
Anthony could not bear it: "Lord Nage, what do you mean by ’just this’? This was our original target, the large Stacked Piece was merely a windfall gain, my Lord, can the large Stacked Piece serve as a skeleton allowing the expansion of the other Stacked Pieces?"
Anthony and Ursman noticed, each piece of Ange’s Stacked Clone was identical in size, splitting and then fitting together, with each piece remaining the same size.
Now this large Stacked Piece is clearly many times the size of the others, since other pieces were restored from fragments, while the large Stacked Piece was weighed down by a complete God Star Soul.
If maintained in this one-large-multiple-small status, the Stacked Pieces cannot align together; either each small Stacked Piece must expand to match the large one, or the large must shrink back to match the small.
Ange nodded.
Everyone’s spirits lifted, "Can it really be done? Wouldn’t that imply their Stacked Pieces could also grow?"
"Would it not require a tremendous quantity of increments? Those left by Luomu Luo’er may not suffice." Negris said worriedly.
Ange nodded.
At this moment, Anthony slapped his thigh with realization, saying: "I figured out why the Exotic Ghost doesn’t need increments, because his Stacked Pieces are already full, if unable to expand himself, absorbing more increments will only cause splitting, without growth."
