Elf Kingdom: Game of the World Tree - Chapter 1306 - 836: Moonlight Queen (Part 2)
Her figure looked somewhat ethereal, as if she might disappear at any moment.
And when he saw that iconic silver hair, along with that face that looked almost identical to the image Nai Nai had shown him, Four Seasons of Sun and Rain’s eyes instantly widened:
"L-Lady... Lady Diana?!"
"Hm?"
The Elf Priest tilted her head slightly, her lips parting a little, as if somewhat surprised:
"You... know me?"
Know you!
Of course I know you!
Four Seasons of Sun and Rain was a bit worked up.
"Lady Diana, I am Four Seasons of Sun and Rain, a Chosen One summoned by the Mother Goddess!"
He quickly said.
"G-Goddess...?"
Diana frowned slightly, as if puzzled.
Seeing her like this, Four Seasons of Sun and Rain slapped his forehead, and quickly realized she probably still didn’t know about the Goddess’s revival.
He took a deep breath and explained excitedly:
"It’s the World Tree! The Goddess is the World Tree! She has already revived, and I’m a Chosen One summoned by the Goddess from another world!"
"W-World... Tree..."
Diana’s body trembled slightly.
She suddenly quickened her pace, came right up to Four Seasons of Sun and Rain, grabbed both his hands, and her voice carried a faint tremor:
"What... what are you saying?"
Four Seasons of Sun and Rain was startled.
Seeing how agitated she was, he swallowed and said:
"She’s revived, the Goddess... no, the Mother Goddess has already been revived for six years. The Elf Clan has already reclaimed the Elf Forest, and the Mother Goddess has recovered Her power. Lord Aurora and Lord Eris have both returned!"
"Lady Diana, we’ve been searching for you all this time!"
Hearing Four Seasons of Sun and Rain’s words, Diana’s expression changed in an instant.
She suddenly tightened her grip on his hands, her voice trembling even more:
"E-Everything you said... is it true?"
"Of course! The Goddess has now taken the name Eve Yggdrasil, and the Elf Clan has already risen from decline. Now, in the Segis World, no race dares to look down on elves. If anyone does, we Chosen Ones will teach them a lesson they’ll never forget!"
Four Seasons of Sun and Rain spoke, excited and a little proud.
Funny thing was, he was clearly just a player, and a latecomer at that, yet talking about the Elf Forest at this moment, his heart was filled with a soaring passion.
Diana seemed to be trembling even more violently.
Through her shaking hands, Four Seasons of Sun and Rain could almost feel the shock in her heart.
"Tell me..."
She suddenly raised her voice:
"Tell me everything you know!"
She clamped down hard on Four Seasons of Sun and Rain’s wrists.
Four Seasons of Sun and Rain was startled.
Looking at how agitated Diana was, he thought about the player storylines he had seen, took a deep breath, and said:
"It all started six years ago..."
...
The sun slowly rose, its light spilling over the earth.
The beautiful Elf Town gradually awoke from its slumber...
Carrying the newly finished statue, Imhettel entered the Elf Town, and all the elves who saw him along the way greeted him warmly and respectfully:
"Imhettel, Your Majesty! Good morning!"
"Morning, Imhettel, Your Majesty!"
Seeing the elves’ smiles, a hint of a smile also appeared on the Titan Giant’s face.
"G-Good... good morning."
He scratched his head and gave a simple, honest grin.
Following a road so familiar it couldn’t be more familiar, Imhettel arrived in front of the temple in the middle of the town.
As always, the temple’s main doors were still closed, but through the crystal windows, one could faintly see light inside.
Looking at the temple before him, Imhettel’s gaze seemed to soften all at once. He carefully moved up to the doors and gently knocked.
"D-Diana... I-I came to see you."
He spoke a little haltingly.
However, no answer came from within the temple.
"Diana?"
Imhettel repeated.
Still silence.
Only after a moment did a faint sigh drift out:
"Come in."
It was Diana’s voice.
Only, compared to usual, that voice carried a trace more distance, a hint of complexity.
Imhettel quickly noticed that difference in the voice.
His expression tightened, and he hurriedly pushed open the great doors:
"Di... Diana... are... are you feeling unwell?"
His voice was extremely tense.
The doors opened, and Moonlight Queen Diana was still sitting before the temple, only this time, she did not look toward the Titan Giant entering the temple.
"Diana?"
Imhettel repeated once, quickly stepping up to her.
Sensing Imhettel approach, Diana raised her head slightly. She sighed softly and said:
"Imhettel... I remember... you once said you would never lie to me, didn’t you?"
Imhettel was slightly stunned.
And just then, the doors of the temple were suddenly pushed open. Four Seasons Clear Rain slipped in, his face full of excitement as he said:
"Lady Diana! I picked some fresh berr—"
He didn’t finish his sentence before locking eyes with Imhettel.
Four Seasons Clear Rain’s smile instantly grew a bit stiff.
Imhettel, on the other hand, suddenly widened his eyes, his expression subtly changing:
"You... why are you... here?!"
But in the next moment, he was cut off by Diana’s somewhat chilly voice:
"Why shouldn’t he be here?"
Imhettel paused slightly.
A complicated, long sigh sounded. Diana turned toward the Titan Giant:
"Imhettel..."
"The Mother Goddess... has actually already revived, hasn’t She?"
Imhettel’s expression shifted slightly.
His expression struggled, but in the end... he fell into silence.
Only his hands clenched tightly around the carved statue of the Goddess.
A long time of wordless quiet.
Until Diana’s voice broke the silence:
"Imhettel, I am leaving here."
"No... you can’t!"
Imhettel immediately raised his head and shouted nervously.
At the same time, a mighty power burst forth from his body. Vast Divine Power wrapped around the temple, sealing the temple doors.
That surging Divine Power directly crushed Four Seasons Clear Rain to the ground so he could not rise. Even Diana’s silver hair was whipped about by the violent wind stirred up by the Divine Power...
However, Diana’s expression remained utterly calm.
"You would stop me?"
She asked softly.
In that voice, there seemed to be a deep, deep disappointment.
Noticing the emotion in her words, the Titan Giant paused slightly.
Looking at her resolute expression, he clenched his fists a little. His expression struggled, but gradually, the struggle turned to dejection...
In the end, Imhettel dispersed his Divine Power and lowered his head in pain.
Feeling the change in the Divine Power around her, Diana’s expression eased quite a bit.
She sighed and said:
"Imhettel, in this life I have only one wish, and that is to follow the Mother Goddess, to witness Her achieve greatness, to witness Her leading our Elf Clan toward the true sea of stars..."
"I am deeply grateful for your care over these near-thousand years. Without you, I might have long since fallen under the pursuit of those Angels of Faith."
"However, it is time for us to part."
"The Mother Goddess has already revived, and I still carry on me something She needs. I must return to Her side as soon as possible..."
"No one can stop me. Not even you."
"Imhettel, I will never forget your kindness, but our paths are, in the end, different."
"This is an Elf Soft Armor I wove during my idle time over the past millennium, using Magic materials from the Ideal Country. It is also a sub-Divine Artifact, a gift I leave you as an expression of my gratitude."
As she spoke, Diana stretched out her hand and placed an exquisite Elf Soft Armor before the Titan Giant.
"Let this be our farewell..."
Then she let out a soft sigh, shifted her body slightly, and turned toward Four Seasons Clear Rain:
"Four Seasons Clear Rain, let’s go."
With that, Diana stood up and walked out of the temple.
"Uh... alright, Lady Diana."
Four Seasons Clear Rain hurried forward and reached out to support her.
The two of them passed by Imhettel. The Titan Giant wanted to reach out and stop them, but in the end... his hand never lifted.
He silently watched as Diana, accompanied by Four Seasons Clear Rain, walked out of the temple.
Soon, only the Titan Giant was left.
