Chapter 40: Sylvie Ravelle and Luna Ravelle

As soon as Ren turned his head toward the source of the sound, he saw an adorable kid running toward him with a happy face. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

The child was about five years old with shoulder-length black hair and grey eyes. The moment his gaze fell on her, several memories flashed through his mind.

Luna Ravelle!

That was the little girl’s name.

Maybe it was because he was using his predecessor’s body or perhaps because he was charmed by her cuteness.

At that moment, he immediately carried her and smiled happily as if they had shared many beautiful memories together.

"My little angel, big brother misses you so much!" Ren didn’t know what was going on, but those words came out of his mouth on their own.

"I also miss you, big brother!" Luna replied cutely. "Big brother, where have you been these past few weeks? Why did you just come home?"

"Big brother went to the forest to find a magical fruit." Even though the one asking him was a little girl who knew nothing about awakeners, he still gave an honest answer as she was just that important to his predecessor.

"Magical fruit?" Luna touched her lips with her right index finger and tilted her head cutely.

"She keeps asking where you have been these past few days, Ren." A gorgeous woman approached them slowly.

The mature lady wore a light green draped long-sleeve blouse with a high-waisted beige skirt.

Her long brown hair descended onto her waist like a waterfall, and her black eyes were as beautiful as the night sky.

Anyone who saw her would not be able to take their eyes off her immediately because her beauty was so unreal to the point that she could steal any man’s heart without her even trying.

The name of the mature lady was none other than Sylvie Ravelle, the landlord of Sunset Residences and Luna’s mother.

"Mrs Sylvie..." Ren knew her name from his predecessor’s memory.

Sylvie was the reason he had a place to stay, and Luna was the one who brought them together.

His meeting with Sylvie was like a scene from a movie or a novel. At that time, his predecessor was resting on a wooden bench under a shady tree.

When he was closing his eyes and enjoying the gentle breeze, Luna came to him with teary eyes.

Once he learned she was lost, he decided to help her without thinking twice. The duo looked around the park for more than twenty minutes before they finally found her mother.

After Sylvie learned he was from an orphanage and had just reached Delvia Town, she offered him a place to stay and a job at her coffee shop.

It was not an exaggeration to say his predecessor could survive thanks to her kindness because he had very little money and no relatives when he first arrived there.

"Where have you been these past few weeks?" Sylvie asked the same thing Luna had.

"I went to the forest to look for a magic fruit that could turn me into an awakener." He gave the same answer he had given Luna.

"Did you find it?" Sylvie threw another question.

"No." He shook his head. "But I managed to become an awakener."

"Congratulations. I knew someone as kind as you would become an awakener." She was happy for him. "So, what path did you awaken?"

"Both paths." He answered.

She blinked in surprise. "Both paths?!"

"Yes." He nodded. "I awakened Lightning for the Elemental path and White Tiger for the Beast Transformation path."

Her lips curled up into a smile. "I knew you were different from everyone your age, but to think you would awaken both paths... it seems the heavens also consider you someone special."

"I was just lucky." He replied with a smile.

"If that’s what you call luck, then the heavens must really be on your side." She let out soft giggles. "Hmm? Is she your friend?"

Sylvie finally noticed Elara.

"Ah! I forgot to introduce her. Her name is Elara." After saying that, Ren turned to Elara. "Elara, Mrs Sylvie is my landlord and has helped me a lot since I came to this town."

"He... hello, my name is Elara. I’m from Shadowleaf Village." Elara introduced herself shyly.

"I’m Sylvie." Sylvie replied with a soft smile. "Is she going to stay here for a few days?"

"About it..." He told Sylvie many things, from how they met, his relationship with her and the villagers, the blood oath, their similar dreams, and how he invited her to join an organization together.

Of course, he didn’t reveal his relationship with Aveline because Elara was with them.

"That won’t do, Ren." Sylvie refused his request right away. "Even though her mother has entrusted her to you, you two are still not married yet. You know the rules here, right?"

His expression completely changed because this was different from his expectations. "Mrs Sylvie, I’m her guardian and the only person she knows in this town. If you disagree with my re- "

Before he had finished his words, she was interrupted by Sylvie.

"I never said she could not live here. I just can’t let you live alone with her because the other tenants will think my rules are a joke if I break them myself." Sylvie explained. "How about you let her live with me instead?"

Both Ren and Elara widened their eyes in shock.

’What?!’

They didn’t expect her to say something like that.

"My house is just next door to the apartment building, so you can meet her whenever you want." After saying that, Sylvie turned to Elara. "What do you think?"

Elara looked at Ren before finally answering, "I...I will let Ren decide it."

Sylvie returned her attention to Ren. "So, do you agree with my idea?"

Ren could not decide immediately.

No!

It was not like he didn’t trust Sylvie.

She was a kind, gentle and caring person from his predecessor’s memories, but Aveline had entrusted Elara to his hands, so he could not feel at ease if she was not with him.

He also believed Elara would feel uncomfortable living with someone she had just met, especially considering her personality.

"Mrs Sylvie, I..." he wanted to refuse, but he didn’t know how to put it into words without hurting her feelings.

"How about this?" Sylvie knew Ren didn’t like her idea. "I have a small house near my coffee shop. You can live with her, but you need to move there."

"I agree!" Ren replied instantly.

"The house is regularly cleaned, so you can move in immediately," Sylvie said.

"Thank you, Mrs Sylvie." Ren thanked her for giving them a place to stay.

Sylvie nodded as she smiled softly.

After Sylvie and her daughter left, Ren took Elara to his apartment. The duo rested for several minutes before finally packing up his belongings and heading to their new place.

Since he didn’t have much stuff, they finished before dinner. They only ate noodles and eggs that night because they didn’t have any vegetables or other ingredients.

Once she finished showering, she headed to her bedroom to rest. Even though her room was not big, it was cozy and comfortable.

A soft bed was placed against the wall, with a nightstand on each side. A makeup table was in front of the bed with an air conditioner above it.

The wardrobe was on the left side of the bed, while a window was on the other side, allowing her to see the beautiful sky from the bed.

Elara’s face blossomed into a smile as she lay on the soft bed.

It could be said that this was the beginning of her journey to pursue her dream, so her heart throbbed with happiness and excitement.

As she was looking at the night sky, Ren also did the same.

His bedroom was the same as hers.

The only difference was the placement of the furniture.

Shortly after they enjoyed the beautiful moon, the duo fell asleep.

----

The following morning, Sylvie and her daughter came to their place to have breakfast with them.

During their meal, Sylvie told him not to go to work and focus on getting stronger since the test would be held in three days.

After Sylvie left, Ren and Elara went to the backyard to train their innate abilities. That day, Elara fully mastered the Wings Tempest skill while Ren could use Tiger Leaps much better.
