Exactly that Imp stumbles along a path of unfortunate fortunes and grows through it, in a world that hates its very existence.

It grows more intelligent, more powerful, simply better at whatever it needs to do. Amongst other things, that includes raising children, killing Soldiers, and carving wooden figurines for money.

A series of short stories in the world of Toaru Majutsu no Index organized into chapters featuring Kanzaki Kaori as the protagonist, going around the world and space doing missions for the Church of Necessary Evil, however, there is more than meets the eye as each incident is connected.

One chapter was bundled with each limited edition release of the Toaru Kagaku no Railgun anime DVD and BDs, with all of them together being equivalent to a single normal Toaru Majutsu no Index volume

He was able to repeatedly reincarnate due to the effect of the Nine Lives Reincarnation Spell, which allowed him to have nine lives. After defeating the Hell-Blood Demon who drove the entire murim to chaos, the patriarchs of the Seven Great Clans betrayed him and killed him. Following that, he was reincarnated for the ninth time as Baek Mu-Gun. Now, his last journey across murim begins.
