The moment the tainted mana got within proximity of the core, it was immediately absorbed by the core as it began expanding rapidly..

If there was one thing I’d come to realize about my ranking up, is that, the more concentrated the energy, the faster it became...

The core expanded from its original forty meter radius to once again double the size, reaching a staggering eighty meters..

Then began the natural cycle of compression and expansion, until the core eventually had enough..

I’d faced off against a Wyvern and a hundred foot Void-stargazer, yet just the bones of these creatures dwarfed those two monsters, they were that massive...

"Woah!" I planted my feet into the hard as metal earth to anchor myself...

The silence stretched for a moment, Voren not in any hurry to make a move, just when it looked like nothing was going to happen..

"Pooh... old man, can’t you let me have a win for once??" The air shifted as a white tear opened up, Elizabeth stepping out softly, her seductive, short figure wearing a pouting expression as she looked at Voren..

"Hahahahaha... little girl, I may be getting old but I’m far from being senile, you’re still a bit too young to think you can get one over this old man.." Voren laughed, stroking his beard with a fond expression on his face..

"Humph... that’s all you old men know how to do, bully the young.. undying cockroaches all of you, humph.." Elizabeth pouted as she crossed her arms and turned her back, giving the old man a cold shoulder...

"Hahahahahahahaha....." Voren merely laughed, wild, free, amused...

A small smile graced Elizabeth’s face as she heard the old man laugh...

"Hmm... I didn’t think you’d be smitten enough with that young child as to follow him even out here, what if you scare him off.." a silence settled between them before Voren’s question broke it..

"This.. I’m not stalking him.. I just thought you’d need back up if anything goes wrong.. yes.. that’s it.." Elizabeth tried defending herself..

"Back up, me? That’s what you’re going with? Besdes I never mentioned anything about you staking him did I? I merely asked what would happen if you scared him off?"

"This.."

"Hahahahaha...."

Another silence settled between them, as they both watched the portal silently...

"You know he probably won’t be making it out of there alive right? None of them are, not if he gets to them." This time it was Elizabeth’s voice that broke the silence and there was not an ounce of warmth within it..

"Sigh.... So you noticed it too huh? It seems that young man has placed his sights on the young heir candidate, I wonder why..." Voren sighed..

"The why doesn’t matter, what matters is what you’re going to do if Dante gets to them, will you make a move? I hear the church is pretty fond of this one since he’s the brother of that arrogant brat within the sanctum."

"Hmmm? And what would you do if I said yes?"

"Then it would be a pity to live in a world where I can no longer hear your voice or laughter old man.."

"You’d go that far for someone you just saw a week ago?"

Silence was what greeted him...

"Haaa... I see..." Voren sighed..

"Well I guess you don’t have to worry about getting your hands dirty, I’m old now and I’ve already left the church and it’s affairs behind, whatever happens within that place is now left to their own personal strengths, whoever is weak enough to die, deserves it, simple as that." Voren added indiffently..

A cheerful smile broke out on Elizabeth’s face as she clapped cheerfully...

"Great, I’m so glad I don’t have to take your colors old man, they’d probably taste nasty anyway.." she made a gagging gesture that just made Voren smile and shake his head..

"Sigh... little Uriah, may the light be with you, you’ll need it.."

Voren sighed internally as he focused once more on the swirling crimson portal, hoping yet knowing fully well what fate awaited the weak within such lawless lands..

"Heh.. so much for not being a liar and an optimist."
