CEO's Reborn Wife
Chapter 550 - 558: I Accepted
Listening to the sounds, it seemed that recording downstairs went on until almost 10 p.m. before wrapping up. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
After accompanying the last boy back to the dormitory, Helen Watson went again to Jane Sampson’s dormitory and called for Jane, just like yesterday, to tell her someone was waiting for her downstairs.
And while she spoke, she took a few extra glances at Jane but didn’t ask anything more.
Jane Sampson had thought it would be Peter Gingery again, so when she came downstairs and looked around without seeing anyone, she thought she had been played by Peter.
Just as she was grumbling about Peter, a person suddenly stepped out of the shadows and called her name.
"Jane Sampson, come here."
At the sound of his voice, Jane turned her head to see James Black stepping out from a corner, standing just two steps away and staring at her.
Oh my God!
How could it be this guy!
Jane rushed over to James Black and dragged him away from the vicinity of the dormitory building.
Only when she felt they were at a safe distance did she let go of James Black and looked up at him, "How come you’re here looking for me? No wonder Sister Helen Watson looked at me funny just now."
"I’ve been here all along," James Black raised his eyebrows, thinking about the words Jane had mentioned in the room just now, the corner of his mouth couldn’t help but twitch.
"I accept your apology," James Black suddenly said, then reached out and patted Jane’s head, "You’re not too blind at least."
It seemed like there was no need to send her to the ophthalmologist after all.
Jane’s heart skipped a beat, a sense of foreboding welling up inside her.
"What do you mean?" she asked.
James Black pointed to the room where Jane had been talking to the director and then to another room next to it, "Working overtime to inspect the evening’s work."
!!!
Jane’s emotions were like a stormy sea.’
How shameless could she be?
She apologized to James Black’s face and even praised him for being very handsome!
The director had truly set her up, hadn’t he?
She had thought that by the time the show was broadcast, this would all have been in the past for a long while, and James Black, the type who doesn’t follow variety shows, might not even watch it.
Jane had figured that by apologizing in front of the national audience and fixing James Black’s image, she never expected that James Black was listening right as she said those things!
Look at how smug he’s become!
Listen to his tone, "I accept your apology."
How was she going to maintain any dignified presence in front of James Black in the next few days?
Watching Jane’s expression change, James Black also knew she was feeling embarrassed, so he didn’t continue on the topic of their earlier conversation.
"Are you still up for a late-night snack? If so, come back to my dormitory with me," James Black asked.
To eat or not to eat?
If she had any pride, she should refuse.
But her heart longed for food.
She had seen James Black take a lunchbox with peanut soup in it that morning.
So the late-night snack he had prepared for her must be her favorite peanut soup.
It took Jane several minutes of consideration before she softly said, "I won’t sleep at your place tonight, I’ll come back after I eat."
"Mm," James Black agreed, "After you finish eating, I’ll walk you back."
With James Black’s assurance, Jane nodded her head, and when James Black reached out to hold her hand, she didn’t pull away. Then, they made their way to his dormitory, all the while Jane boasting to James about how she had eaten two tomatoes straight off the vine in the vegetable field that afternoon.
While talking to James, Jane also felt secretly pleased inside that these past few days had been lucky, coming and going without bumping into any of James Black’s comrades in arms.
But joy often brings sorrow in its wake. Just as they reached the bottom of James Black’s dormitory building, they ran straight into Lieutenant Johnson who was also about to go upstairs.
Taken utterly by surprise and with no chance to dodge, Jane stood next to James Black, and she was completely flustered.
