CEO's Reborn Wife
Chapter 473 - 481: It’s Really Ugly
Jane Sampson had thought the popularity peak of her twitter-like suddenly would last no more than two days, but unexpectedly, it didn’t subside.
Though the topic was not as hot as in the first two days, someone talented managed to create several emoticons out of her famous one-liner.
The pictures were screenshots from her appearance on Mr. Humming’s show, complete with added text and glittery fifty-cent special effects, becoming a new round of popular emoticons.
As for Jane Sampson herself, when she saw this series of emoticons, she truly rejected them in her heart. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"Boss Sampson, not bad, huh? You’ve been topping the charts these past few days!"
Jane was grimacing while scrolling through her emoticons on her mobile phone when Harry Humming peered over her shoulder and teased her with a glance at her phone’s screen.
"Don’t you find them really ugly?" Jane pursed her lips.
"They are quite ugly!" Harry replied swiftly and without hesitation nodded in agreement.
Jane instantly felt disheartened. "The person who made these emoticons must be a hater."
"But these kinds of emoticons are supposed to be cute just like this!" Harry burst into laughter. "You didn’t see how Director Wilson has been gleaming these few days. You and Brother Cheer have been giving the film crew quite the publicity boost. By the way, I heard you’re taking a leave of absence tomorrow?"
"Yeah." Jane nodded. "I need to make a trip to Springtown."
"Your script is also nearing completion, and even Director Wilson has been praising your recent filming state, so we haven’t fallen behind on schedule. Honestly, Jane Sampson, you really surprise me. Your progress is visible to the eye. Remember your first day at drama school, performing a romantic scene? It was indescribably awkward, but now, whenever it comes to emotional scenes, with one look towards Brother Cheer, the emotions in your gaze can draw me right into the moment."
Although Harry is unreliable when joking around, he’s undoubtedly dedicated and outstanding at work as an actor. Having earned Harry’s approval, Jane couldn’t help but smile with a curve in her eyes.
In the period when she least felt the sensation of a secret crush, Jane would delve into the script Director Wilson had set up for her every day after filming, sometimes even staying up all night pondering over it.
Jane has always believed that as an actor, what she has to learn is acting. Personal experiences are certainly important, but one can’t rely solely on personal experiences to perform in every drama. Otherwise, the actors who play psychopathic killers can’t really be expected to kill one or two people, right?
So, Jane always told herself, even if she had no experience with secret crushes, it was okay as long as she was seriously studying, observing, and empathy, she could learn it eventually.
Fortunately, she succeeded.
"When you come back, remember to bring us some snacks. We’ve been up in the mountain village so long, my mouth almost tastes like bird. Harry patted Jane’s shoulder, "I have just this simple request for you, bring some spicy strips."
"I’ll see how it goes," Jane murmured. She would be returning to Capital Province after finishing her work in Springtown, and if James Black were around, she might not even be able to buy spicy strips, let alone potato chips!
Thinking of James Black, after Harry had left, Jane took out her phone and gave James a call. The phone rang a few times before James picked up.
"I’ll be flying to Springtown tomorrow around 10 a.m., and I’ve booked a flight back to Capital Province for 2:30 p.m. the day after tomorrow. Can you pick me up then? We could go have dinner at my grandparents’." Jane said, "I’ve arranged with Mr. Carter to practice a bit tomorrow afternoon, then the day after tomorrow we’ll spend a whole day recording and shooting a bit for the MV. The workload isn’t much, so setting aside half a day should be enough."
"I’ll pick you up," said James on the phone, talking to Jane while passing by the practice field, where a group seemed to be distributing something. He didn’t think much of it and stepped over to check what was happening.
"What are you handing out?" James didn’t hang up the call and casually asked the group behind him. After asking, his gaze fell on the item in the hands of the person closest to him.
His eyes narrowed, focusing on the three words on the red little notebook in the person’s hand.
—Marriage Certificate.
