CEO's Reborn Wife
Chapter 1367 - 1375 Tell me the address
After discovering a note in the study and another tucked into the sofa in the living room, joy filled James Black’s eyes.
He glanced at his watch and then stood in the living room, pulling out his mobile phone to call Jane Sampson.
The phone rang for a long time before it was picked up; James guessed she must be on her way home.
As soon as the call connected, before Jane Sampson could speak, James took the initiative.
"I see you took my precious card in your purse out for a meal, how long until you bring it back to me?" he asked.
The person on the phone didn’t reply, but because it was quiet at home, he could hear her breathing through the phone.
James waited a few seconds, just when he thought Jane would continue to pretend she didn’t hear him, her voice suddenly came through the phone.
"Why don’t you come to the riverside yourself to pick up your treasure? If you don’t come, I’ll throw it into the river to feed the fish."
Her voice was soft, and even though she deliberately disguised it, James could still hear a crying tone in her voice.
She had been crying.
"Tell me the address," James quickly said.
"By the three little egret statues by White Egret River," Jane Sampson replied.
"Don’t leave, I’m coming now," James hung up the phone in a hurry, grabbed his car keys, and left.
He drove fast all the way there, never imagining that just an engagement dinner at the Sampson Family could make Jane Sampson secretly cry by the riverside.
If he had known this would happen, James would not have let her go to that dinner.
About 35 minutes later, James’s car stopped roadside. From a distance, he saw Jane Sampson’s car parked there, and what troubled him most was that Jane Sampson was sitting on top of her car, drinking beer.
He got out of the car and walked straight towards Jane Sampson. As he approached, he saw empty bottles next to the car, and as he got closer to her, he could smell the alcohol on her, realizing she had drunk quite a bit.
"Get down," James said sternly, standing beside the car. Moping and crying in secret was one thing, but daring to secretly drink beer alone was another.
The person sitting on the car top saw James approaching, gave a goofy smile, wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes with one hand, and with the other hand, holding a half-full beer bottle, she shook it at him, then, trembling, tried to stand up, which frightened James.
"Don’t stand up, just jump down like this, I’ll catch you," James, seeing Jane Sampson’s intent to upright herself, quickly reached out to grab her ankle.
Before he could steady himself, the person on the roof obediently jumped down straight towards him.
Obedient as she was, she also showed great trust in his ability to respond and his physical skills.
When Jane Sampson leaped towards him, James had to step back several times before he could stabilize himself, while the woman in his arms had no idea that if she hadn’t controlled herself a bit more, they could have both rolled onto the ground and potentially tumbled into the river if unable to stop in time. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"Why did it take you so long~" Jane Sampson, in James’s arms, complained with a tone of grievance, "I almost finished all the beer before you got here, you are a turtle, Turtle Black!"
James endured and reminded himself not to argue with a drunk.
He directly picked up the person in his arms, put her into his own car, then opened her car door to gather her stuff and put it into his car, and then drove home with Jane Sampson.
As for Jane Sampson’s car, it would just have to be temporarily locked and left by the roadside.
