"You are the person involved, so I can tell you that I didn’t inform you earlier because I was afraid you might be scared," James Black said in a deep voice. "We had a teammate who joined you and me on this mission, and that teammate is still in the hospital with severe injuries and hasn’t been discharged yet."

James Black continued, "So, Jane Sampson, more than anyone else, I want you to always be carefree, to never need to use the skills I’m teaching you. However, I am more afraid that if I slack off even once, in the future, I would regret it for the rest of my life."

James Black’s tone was very serious, and the slight unwillingness in Jane Sampson’s heart was swept away by his words.

Jane Sampson realized that James Black was not forcing her to acquire this skill because as his wife she should learn it, but because he was worried that one day she might still face danger.

James Black even feared that if he didn’t push her today, he would regret it someday in the future.

"James, I will study hard," Jane Sampson reached out and tugged on James Black’s arm, "You teach me."

James Black very rarely omitted the surname when calling her by her name. On very rare occasions, when he was emotionally moved and holding her in his arms, he might call her by her name a few times.
