CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror
Chapter 334: The Colosseum
Tanya’s spear was a Royal Relic from Valeria. It was built from the gold inside the Mount Elyria, the heart of Valeria. Its durability was unmatched in Valeria.
But it did have a weakness. The Elyria Spear was built for human and its power deflected anything that wasn’t human.
Tanya couldn’t channel her power through it efficiently.
So Solarix trained her and trained the Elyria Spear at the same time. In the heart of the demonic palace, Tanya learned to accept her demon side and slowly fused her power with the Elyria Spear.
The Spear was very persistent from changes. Tanya couldn’t manipulate its well.
After weeks of training, she learned to use her demon powers better. But the Spear was unchanged.
Then one day, Bash arranged for her to show up in the Colosseum.
"What is the Colosseum?" Tanya asked.
"A place for warriors to prove themselves. You either die in there or walk out anew." Bash said.
"Isn’t that a little bit... I don’t know. Ruthless." Tanya said.
"You are the last heir of Valeria. If you can’t even survive in the Colosseum, what makes you think you can restore your country?" Bash smiled.
Tanya stayed silent.
"The Colosseum will have a spot for you tomorrow. You may not come. The choice is yours."
Bash left.
The next day. Demons and all kinds of species gathered inside the Colosseum. They shouted and screamed. The air inside the Colosseum was pushed to the greatest height.
People were here for blood. And they expected blood.
Demons entered the Colosseum as gladiators. No one shall exit unless they had won their challenges.
Bash sat the top of the grandstand, on his steel throne. Solarix was right next to him and a few other demon advisors.
"Do you think she’ll come?" Solarix said.
Bash nodded. "She will. Crow won’t send a coward to us."
And as he expected, when the warriors stepped within the Colosseum, Tanya was there. She wore a red mask like all other contestants.
Bash smiled, "We shall see if she has the strength to become great."
Bash raised his hand, "Death Match!"
The audience raised their hands, "Death Match! Death Match! Death Match!"
They shouted and punched the air.
Death Match was a game within the Colosseum. The rules were simple because there was only one.
Fight to the last survivor.
And the game commenced.
The demons lunged at each other like rapid dogs.
Demons were beings of Chaos. They yearned for blood and destruction. The Colosseum was the best way to quench their thirst without harming the order that Bash and Solarix had built for years.
Tanya was playing smart about it. She tried to stay out of fight to preserve her strength.
The audience, obviously, didn’t like that. And a few demons were coming at her. They disliked weaklings that didn’t fight to their heart content.
"Help her a little bit." Bash turned to Solarix.
The winged demon nodded. She reached out to Tanya’s telepathically.
’What are you doing, Tanya?’ Solarix’s voice echoed in Tanya’s mind.
’What do you mean what am I doing? I’m trying to survive.’
’That’s not how a demon fight. We don’t think. We let our instinct leads us.’
’What if I run out of Chaos then?’
’How can you run out of Chaos when you’re constantly creating it?’
The simple explanation awakened something in Tanya. She gave up on playing defensive and jumped into the horde of demons.
Bash leaned back on his throne and smiled. "Smart girl."
Tanya’s power grew with every kill she gathered. Her serious expression slowly changed into a smile. As blood covered her face, so did her power revealed more.
On top of her forehead, two horns emerged.
"Oh? Her demonic side is finally showing." Bash said.
"Victory is still not yet guaranteed. There are quite a few powerful gladiators in there." Solarix said.
The weak died first. They were mostly Rank-1 demons.
Then the average died when the strong focused on them.
Then there were only the strong left. Two full-fledged demons and a Half-Blood.
The crowd went wild. Screams and shouts filled the Colosseum. Bloodlust wad pushed to the highest point.
"Hear that. They’re cheering for us." A gladiator said.
"Let’s end this on a high note, boys! And girl." The other gladiator said as he looked over to Tanya.
The first one removed his helmet, "My name is Maximus Terius Demonius. Former commander of the first legion of Asteros!"
"My name is Perseus Theseus Memorius. Prince of Narcadia!" The second one also removed his helmet.
Tanya breathed in deeply. She also removed her helmet.
"My name is Tanya William Edward Valeria. Princess of Valeria and the nine kingdoms!"
They all smiled. None of them was a nobody. But here they were, fighting for the joy of the crowd.
All of them raised their weapons and shouted at the same time, "May the best man win!"
They rushed at each other.
Maximus used a sword. Perseus used a trident. And Tanya used a spear.
Maximus had the least advantage in range. He was being forced back by Perseus and Tanya.
"I ain’t going down first!" Maximus deflected Tanya’s spear away, only for Perseus to jump at him with the trident.
Maximus’s demonic power erupted. His demon form was revealed. A large demon with two curved horns. He towered over Perseus and Tanya.
Maximus swiped his sword and released a wave of Hellfire to the two of them.
Perseus forced to stop his attack and transformed. Perseus turned into a dark skin demon with purple horns.
There was only Tanya’s left who was still in her human form.
"You must be Bash’s favourite Half-Blood." Perseus said.
As soon as they figured out Tanya couldn’t transform, they ganged up on her.
Tanya had to pull back to defend herself. But she was no match for them. Perseus sneaky trident pierced into her shoulder.
Tanya deflected Maximus’s sword but couldn’t avoid his kick.
Maximus sent her rolling on the ground with her bleeding shoulder.
Tanya got up. She breathed heavily.
"It is now or never." Bash rested his chin on his hands.
Kaera and Mater watched everything from above the table world.
"Will she be able to become a full demon? Or will you lose this game? You’re playing a dangerous gamble, anarch." Kaera said.
The black cat floated lazily in the air, "What is life if there is no risk? Either she rises up or be erased by Fate. She is the master of her destiny."
