CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror - Chapter 289: Steam Town
Chaos and Nether swept through the Floor of Darkness. The Never-ending Wood changed.
It wasn’t only a dark forest with a moon no more. It had structures inside it.
A town materialized in the middle of the Floor of Darkness. Crowded structures with brick layers and oval windows. White pristine walls with intimidating gargoyles on the balcony.
A town of steam and oil.
In the middle of the town was a water fountain. It had not water in it because it was still simply a projection.
Everything here was a projection. It wasn’t real. It was only a manifested prison within the pages. Mater was not powerful enough to dip his hands in creation just yet.
Crow stood at the dark fountain overseeing the giant tree in the far distance.
Mater’s cat eyes hovered in the sky.
"Steam and oil? A rather unique choice." Mater’s voice echoed.
"This is Aaron’s favorite era. The pre-war era. He always said that if he had the ability to time travel, he would choose a place like this."
Crow placed his hand on the fountain.
"It’s a pity that this beautiful place was only a projection." Mater’s voice echoed.
"For now, Master. I have no doubt in my mind that you would reach a higher height."
"You really know how to flatter me, Crow."
"This place is so nice!" Selina said.
She and the other servants had been running around in the town and sight-seeing.
"I would love to stay in this place for a vacation!" Selina said.
"Why?" The black cat’s deep voice echoed.
"What? Don’t you understand! This is the most gothic place ever. Goths like me would go nuts if they saw this place." The goth girl couldn’t contain her joyfulness.
She felt like she was playing a video game and what she was doing was finding out the border between what was real and fake.
Selina went inside every house. Each house was real and accessible. However, their interiors weren’t that impressive. The town also missed very important details that Selina thought would be a great addition.
"This place needs a train! And an industrial complex! And..."
"Haha." Mater laughed and sweated at the same time. He could already imagine the amount of work he needed to do to complete all of that.
"I’ll help you build them, Miss Isles." Crow said.
"You will?" Selina’s eyes fluttered. Stars in her gaze.
"Of course. But I don’t understand much about architecture... or all the things you just said."
Crow only manifested this place based on Aaron’s impressions, which were not that accurate and detailed.
"Don’t worry, Crow. I will prepare the blueprints for you!" Selina slapped Crow’s back in an aggressive manner.
Crow sweated silently. He had a feeling that he just made a grave mistake.
The other servants all turned their back away. Sparrow whistled like he didn’t hear a single thing.
But he couldn’t get away. Selina grabbed him.
"I heard your power is focused on reshaping earth and land, right?"
"That’s right, my queen..." Sparrow said.
"Why are you calling me that? Call me Selina. We’re not roleplaying here."
’Yes, ma’am!"
"You will need to help me and Crow build this place too." Selina said.
Sparrow turned to Mater for help but the yellow eyes on the sky deliberately looked away. The black cat was too lazy to be a part of this. He could lend Selina and his servants the required power though.
"Alright. I need to continue."
A second Submission Seal appeared in the Floor of Darkness. This seal belonged to the nameless knight.
The seal landed on an empty area within the dark wood and began to expand.
"A shrine for the helmet? I thought he didn’t need one." Selina said.
"You’re not wrong." Mater’s voice echoed. "Technically speaking, he is a half-servant half-artifact. I can refuel him in my Demonic Arsenal. But hey, don’t tell me you aren’t curious what his Shrine would be like?"
"If you said it like that then, yes. I am curious."
The Submission Seal created a giant obelisk within the Floor of Darkness. It was smaller than the dark tree.
"Hmmm." Selina pouted her lips slightly when she saw that obelisk. "That thing really isn’t going well with the theme of the place."
The dark knight knelt before her, "If you dislike it, you can remove it, your majesty."
Selina was about to adjust his way of speaking just like Sparrow. But then she remembered that the nameless knight wasn’t really being theatrical. That was who he truly was.
"I don’t dislike it, ser. But I do want to suggest some changes."
Selina whispered a few words to Crow. The Abomination made changes to the floor according to her suggestions.
Around the obelisk, a small fortress of stone emerged. It was made in the style of an old castle.
"There. Not everything looks right." Selina said.
The nameless knight nodded. "It looks much better, your majesty."
Selina left the Prison afterwards while the servants stayed behind to explore Crow’s new domain.
The goth girl and the black cat left the cemetery. There was still one more Shrine to be collected.
"Haven’t been here for a while since school."
Selina slid the kickstand over and parked the motorcycle.
"Let me give Ash a call as well." Selina said.
"You do that. I’ll go retrieve the Shrine."
They entered the cold storage. Aurora jumped out from the pages.
The ice throne was still there. Cold and clear as ever.
"I’m going to miss this place." Aurora caressed the snow on the wall.
Mater’s pocket dimension was better in every way shape or form. But even for an undead like Aurora, she couldn’t help but feel nostalgic.
Mater summoned the Submission Seal back. The ice throne crumbled and disappeared.
Inside the Floor of Blizzard, the Submission Seal appeared. It landed on the ground and erupted.
Bash was a steel flower. Solarix was a smaller flower.
Crow was a dark tree. The nameless knight had an obelisk.
Aurora’s Shrine was originally an ice throne. But it also mutated when it came to contact with Prison Within The Pages.
A giant gust of wind blew through the barren snow land of the Floor of Blizzard. Aurora Borealis was created.
