Chapter 243: Can You Do It?
Tak Jung-Hwa raised a brow. He had just thrown a casual comment, but who knew that he would be able to pull out a reaction from Mu Yuze? "Why are you so surprised?" Thinking that this reaction was caused by him comparing Mu Yuze to XIU, Tak Jung-Hwa couldn’t help but chuckle. "Is there something wrong with what I said? The things you have done... if this is not heartless, then what is?"
The furrow on Mu Yuze’s brows deepened and his gaze was obscure, rendering the other party unable to guess what he was thinking about. "You’re comparing me to XIU because... both of us are omegas?"
"Otherwise?" Tak Jung-Hwa was really confused now. He had an inkling that Mu Yuze’s complex expression spoke of a thousand words, yet he just could not comprehend what it meant. And more than that, he was also surprised because... wasn’t this the first time Mu Yuze took the initiative to converse with him? Previously, the omega had always avoided him like a plague and refrained from saying more than three words to him unless absolutely necessary. What had brought forth the change?
Before Tak Jung-Hwa could wrap his head around the situation, Mu Yuze asked again, "What did he look like?"
"Hmm? You mean, XIU?" Tak Jung-Hwa’s eyes darkened and his careless smile turned sharper. "Well, you will know once you meet him. He is the strongest omega I have ever met." He took one glance at Mu Yuze’s pale complexion and clicked his tongue. "Be careful not to be KO-ed in one move later."
Mu Yuze leveled him with an unimpressed stare and withdrew his gaze. No minute changes could be detected on his face, but inside only God knew that his three views were on the verge of crumbling apart.
What did this man say? XIU was an omega? How could Juan-gege be an omega? Was this man stupid or blind?
His mind raced with countless thoughts before it settled on a conclusion: Tak Jung-Hwa must have gotten the wrong person.
XIU’s figure had always been shrouded by mysteries. If not because Mu Yuze was acquaintanced with XIU himself, perhaps he would have taken that figure as a mere folklore, simply because what the public knew about his real identity was close to nil. And hence, even if Tak Jung-Hwa was spreading false information, nobody corrected him because they were oblivious to the truth as well. Of course, Mu Yuze wouldn’t be the first person to step up to the task.
Just let him be wrong, he thought viciously.
Relief seized his heart in a visceral grip and he felt as if he could breathe a little easier. The most risky factor he had taken in mind before he decided to expose He Juan’s information was Tak Jung-Hwa. Mu Yuze merely intended to throw the Alpha behind the bars, but Tak Jung-Hwa wanted to kill him. Mu Yuze couldn’t have mistaken the killing intent in his eyes. As such, he finally decided to withhold the information that He Juan was XIU and only claimed him as a core member. Who could have guessed that everything was a mere misunderstanding in the first place?
— The one who had fought Tak Jung-Hwa that year and injured him severely was not He Juan.
If that was the case, then who...? Who could be so powerful for Tak Jung-Hwa to mistake them for XIU? And most importantly, an omega?
Mu Yuze pursed his lips tight. As expected, the information he knew about Xuanlong that year was still too lacking. Even if the relationship between him and XIU could be considered good, he still did not know anything... and God, he hated it. He hated being kept in the dark. He hated being protected and shielded like a porcelain glass.
That’s why, this time he would make sure not to miss anything again. He clenched his fists, eyes blazing in determination. He wanted He Juan to know that even though he was born an omega, he could fight as well as Alphas too.
Second stretched into hours as the last time preparation was being made. The hustle and bustle in the harbor gradually thinned as the sky was ablaze with the fire of setting sun. In that breathtaking moment, the large body of water reflected the glow from the horizon, making it look as if the sky and Earth had merged into one. Sadly, no one in the vicinity was in the mood to appreciate the tranquil scenery.
Fully equipped for battle, everyone’s nerves were strung taut by the dark undercurrent brewing in the air.
Inside the command car, one report came in after another, echoing the same message again and again.
"Team 1, in position. Clear."
"Team 2, in position. Clear."
"Team 3..."
When it came to Team 6, the message was finally different.
"This is Team 6. I repeat, this is Team 6. We are at the south entrance and there are two cars heading this way!"
"This is Team A. Target has passed through the toll checkpoint. His destination is... the south entrance!"
All of the activity was concentrated on the south entrance, and even He Juan himself was heading down that road. Li Zhi exchanged glances with everyone in the car and relayed a powerful command to the walkie-talkie, "This is the commander. Proceed to Plan A. We will focus our manpower around the south entrance!"
Mu Yuze was donning his bulletproof vest when Li Zhi turned to him and asked, "Can you do it?" This question held so many meanings. Li Zhi could have asked whether Mu Yuze could really join the operation in his current condition or he could also ask... whether Mu Yuze would keep a firm stand when it was time to face He Juan later.
Mu Yuze raised his head and stated lightly, "I can."
Li Zhi stared at him for one long moment before reaching out to pat his shoulder. "Okay, I will trust you. Are you guys ready?" The last sentence was directed toward Tak Jung-Hwa and Rong Simo, who was also clad in protective gear.
Rong Simo harrumphed, "Of course." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Tak Jung-Hwa gave a solemn salute, "This is the reason why I am sent here. I definitely won’t let you down!"
"Alright," Li Zhi took a deep breath and suppressed the uneasiness in his chest. "Go!"
As soon as the cue was issued, the three people got out of the command car, blended into the darkness and went straight to the vital position that had been arranged for them.
Director Zhang was holding his palms together in front of his chest, "Namo Amitabha," he prayed solemnly. "May everything go well tonight." Feeling like it was still not enough, he even pulled Li Zhi to pray together with him.
The time for the ambush was approaching. From afar, bright headlights pierced through the thick darkness of the harbor and a car halted right in front of the south entrance.
It was 7.50 pm, and the person whom the police had been tracking down finally arrived at the scene.
