Chapter 242: Heartless Omega

"What?!" Li Zhi and Rong Simo exclaimed at the same time, utterly shocked. Wu Yuan... escaped from the hospital? How? No, most importantly, why now?!

"Fuck...!" Rong Simo was unable to hold his temper back and snarled viciously. "A bunch of useless fools! There are so many of you and you can’t even watch a brat who’s still wet behind the ears!"

Li Zhi did not blame him. He, too, had a very strong urge to curse right now.

After the incident where someone knocked two of their officers out, they had sent a request to the local station, asking for supplementary manpower to increase the security around Wu Yuan’s isolation room. Wu Yuan’s condition had become very unstable since, and the doctor in charge of him had firmly expressed that he needed to be monitored at all times in case he was having another episode of emotional breakdown again.

Because they were preparing for the major operation, the City Bureau’s officers had been working around the clock these past few days. Let alone making a trip to the hospital, they did not even have the time to sleep. And now, they received such news when they were a mere five hours away from the ambush?!

Li Zhi took a deep breath and gritted out, "Explain!"

The officer’s voice was shaking as he elaborated what had transpired, presumably realizing that being defeated by a sixteen years old teenager would be a black history for a lifetime.

They had no clear idea why, but all of a sudden, Wu Yuan went deranged half an hour ago. He screamed, tore at his hair and clawed his skin, looking as if he was trapped in a nightmare.

Upon hearing this, Mu Yuze clenched his fists and lowered his lashes to hide the emotions brewing within. Wu Yuan’s symptoms... they were just like He Juan when he was under the effect of AX–03. Could it be that the drug started to affect Wu Yuan now that he had manifested as an Alpha? No. Something was not right. Something did not add up to this whole situation...

Apparently, Mu Yuze’s guess was in line with Doctor Tang. Having gotten experienced in dealing with He Juan before, the doctor was extremely alert and asked the Alpha officers and doctors to evacuate from the place lest they would be affected as well. Next, Doctor Tang brought three officers inside in order to hold Wu Yuan’s down. Who could have guessed that...

"Captain, that guy’s pheromones are unusual!" The officer cried out, still with lingering fear. "All of our people were knocked out once they got close to him, and he took advantage of the chaos to run out of the hospital!"

"Unusual?" Li Zhi repeated the words. "A superior Alpha?"

"No, no, it’s even stronger than a superior Alpha’s!"

Everyone in the command car was shocked when they heard this. Stronger than a superior Alpha? Was it the effect of AX–03 in Wu Yuan’s body?

But wait... was it possible for the drug to boost an Alpha’s pheromones to exceed that of a superior level? Li Zhi had perused a few scientific articles once he confirmed that the case indeed had something to do with AX–03, but he did not seem to have read something like this before...

He furrowed his brows in contemplation. "He couldn’t have gone far. Hurry up and scour the parameter before he causes more damage to other people! Didn’t the doctor say that he couldn’t control his pheromones properly yet? Then if you follow the trail, you will be able to find him easily! Bring out the police dog if you have to. No matter what, you must find him as soon as possible!"

"Yes, Sir! We’re on it right now!"

Li Zhi was still deep in thought even after the call was cut off. He could feel irritation and frustration welling up within him, and in the end, a soft curse slipped out of his mouth, "Fuck... why now?"

A mirthless chuckle sounded from the side. "I’m sorry, but..." Tak Jung-Hwa spread his hands with a helpless look. "The timing is too good to be a mere coincidence. We have confirmed that Cui Yan is a member of Xuanlong, what about the person who snuck into Wu Yuan’s room? If what I’m suspecting is true, then we may not be able to find Wu Yuan so easily."

It turned out Tak Jung-Hwa had a knack for being a jinx. Half an hour later, another phone call came in and the same officer reported in a fluster, "Captain, we have followed the trail of his pheromones, but it suddenly disappeared a few kilometers from Yuyang Hospital Center! The police dog couldn’t find anything either!"

Li Zhi had to keep reminding himself to be patient lest he lost it right there and then. "The surveillance cameras?"

"I–It’s a blind area!"

"Damn!" Rong Simo punched the seat in front of him, his voice shaking in rage. "That brat couldn’t possibly know the location of the surveillance’s blind spot!"

If that was the case, then there was only one possibility—

"Wu Yuan has been taken away," Tak Jung-Hwa voiced out loud the thought in everyone’s mind. A careless yet sharp smile graced the corner of his lips. "And most likely, it has been done by a member of Xuanlong. Be prepared, we should be able to see Wu Yuan later."

Rong Simo spewed out a barrage of curses. "What did they want to do with that brat? He is a minor, for God’s sake! Don’t tell me that they want to recruit him into Xuanlong?!"

Li Zhi closed his eyes and took a deep breath to calm his anger. On the other side, Director Zhang grabbed the walkie-talkie and asked the reinforcements to bring pheromones blocker to the harbor. They had to be prepared for the worst case scenario.

"What?" Mu Yuze asked lightly. He could feel Tak Jung-Hwa’s gaze on him like thousands of sharp needles. His complexion was already pale to begin with, and when he frowned, he exuded such a frigid aura that made him look all the more unapproachable.

"I’m just curious," Tak Jung-Hwa rubbed his chin in thought, his tone light and casual. "The person who can take Wu Yuan away... it must be someone he knows and trusts. Is it possible that the one who did it is Mr. He? After all, he is Wu Yuan’s teacher..." he trailed off and offered Mu Yuze a smile. "What do you think?"

Mu Yuze was not affected by the provocation. His eyelids did not even twitch as he replied, "We have already put a tail on him. Whether he is behind this or not, won’t we find out about it by now?"

Tak Jung-Hwa stared at him for one long moment before he averted his gaze away, shook his head and chuckled, "Mu Yuze, you’re the second most heartless omega I have ever met after XIU."

Mu Yuze’s response came a beat too late. "...XIU?" This time, his frosty expression cracked to show the sluggishness and confusion within.
