Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)
Chapter 235: [Bonus - ] Cold-Blooded Monster
As soon as Rong Simo returned with the evidence, the entire Yuyang City Bureau erupted into a loud uproar.
Apparently, the address Cui Yan had given was an inconspicuous house on the outskirts of Jiangnan Province. The house was small and simple, and upon entering, Rong Simo and his men could see a layer of dust forming on the surface, proving that it had been some time since anyone had come here.
As for the evidence Cui Yan was talking about, Rong Simo found all of them in the single bedroom in the house. As soon as he opened the closet, he found a few high-quality wigs, a bag of make-up tools, clothes that had been worn by the imposter before and... a black bag. Inside that bag was a bulk of money which had been taken from Qin Zhen’s account, not even a single RMB was missing. And after turning the bag inside out, Rong Simo found a small flashdisk hidden inside one of the side pockets.
It was this flashdisk that ended up becoming the main evidence.
In the meeting room, Yuyang City Bureau.
The officers from the Violent Crime and Narcotics Division had gathered there. Even Director Zhang was present to join the investigation process. The flashdisk was connected to the large screen projector, and everyone could see that it was empty save for a single video.
Everyone watched with bated breath as the operator clicked on the video.
At first, the screen was black. Then there was a crackle as the camera came into life and a familiar layout unfolded in front of their eyes. From Rong Simo’s furious curses, they had known more or less what they would find in the video, but their heart still skipped a beat when they saw the scene of Wu Yuan’s kitchen on the large screen.
"This... is a pinhole camera?" An officer asked hesitantly.
"Yeah," another replied, somber. "A remotely controlled one. From the position, it seems like it’s been placed on top of the refrigerator." They had scoured through Wu Yuan’s house and found nothing suspicious at all. Hence, there could only be one possibility – the pinhole camera was taken away before the police arrived.
Not long after, the still scene was shattered by the sound of the door being slammed open, followed by Wu Yuan’s enraged holler. "I won’t give it to you! This money... it’s not mine! You can’t spend it just like that!"
"You stinky brat!" Another man replied, older this time. There was no doubt that the other person was Yuan’s father, the deceased Old Five, Wu Liang. "You dare to talk back to me now, huh?!"
"I’ve been tolerating you for so long!" Wu Yuan’s voice came closer, then he appeared on camera to rush straight to the counter to grab a kitchen knife. His entire body was trembling as he grabbed the knife with both hands, pointing it at someone out of the camera’s range. He looked like he was on the verge of breaking apart, voice cracking. "You spent our family’s savings, you even dared to gamble with our house deed! How... How could you? What kind of atrocious act will you attempt next time? Will you only be satisfied once I’m dead...?!" Wu Yuan cried out on top of his lungs, tears streaming down his face.
Alas, the man in front of him was unmoved.
"Dead?" Wu Liang laughed coldly. "You’re only a little brat. What do you know about life and death?"
"Don’t... Don’t step closer!" Wu Yuan gritted out as he thrust the knife forward. "Don’t force me to do this!"
"Do what?" This time, Wu Liang finally appeared on the screen. He took one step after another toward Wu Yuan, his face full of mockery and scorn. With every step he took, Wu Yuan retreated until his back bumped against the kitchen counter, his grip on the knife became more and more shaky. "What are you going to do, huh? Are you going to stab me with that? Come on, stab me..." he even patted his chest with a taunting look. "Just stab me right here if you dare!"
So far, the event had proceeded exactly like how Wu Yuan described it to be.
However, the most crucial thing happened next.
Everyone sharply held his breath when Wu Yuan seemed to lose his mind. With a shout, he closed his eyes and swung the knife, forcing a pained grunt from Wu Liang. Obviously not expecting that Wu Yuan would really launch an attack, Wu Liang stumbled backward and tripped on his feet, causing him to fall on his butt. "Y–You..." he gasped and covered his bleeding chest.
Wu Yuan dropped the knife with a clang, his face deathly pale. Then everyone watched as Wu Yuan scurried away like his life depended on it. However, not even three seconds later, a resounding thud echoed in the air. Hearing it, Wu Liang whipped his head around and showed an extremely shocked expression.
"What?" The meeting room was buzzing with murmurs. "What was he seeing? Why was he so surprised?"
"You..." On the screen, colors drained from Wu Liang’s face and extreme terror was reflected in his eyes. His large frame shook in fear and the mocking look he showed when he was facing Wu Yuan was nowhere to be found. He acted like he was facing his greatest nightmare. "Why... Why are you here? I... I haven’t..."
A light chuckle sounded. Then the third person appeared on the camera.
That man... it was none other than Qin Zhen – no, it was the imposter who was disguised as Qin Zhen!
"Really?" the man asked. With utter leisure, he sauntered past Wu Liang and bent down to grab the blood-stained knife with a gloved hand. "Are you sure you haven’t done anything wrong at all?" 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"I... I..." Wu Liang was rooted in place even as the other man prowled toward him, it was as if he had lost his soul. The pinhole camera was facing the imposter’s back, so when the man stood exactly in front of Wu Liang, the officers could not see anything aside from the tremble of his legs. "M–Mer..."
The word ’mercy’ had not even come out of his lips yet when the imposter drove the knife straight toward his stomach. There was no mistaking the appalling sound of sharp blade tearing into flesh, the muffled grunt from Wu Liang and the wet gurgles of blood on his throat. His legs spasmed violently like a fish being hooked out of the water.
But from the beginning to the end, he had never fought back – never even tried to. It was like the mere thought of resisting had not even crossed his mind at all. The profound terror he held toward the other person had sealed his fate. At that moment, he was no different from a grasshopper whose legs were already broken. He could only give futile attempts to struggle as life was being robbed away from him...
Seeing this indisputable evidence, the crowded room fell into a hushed and grim silence.
This was the police’s first encounter with the imposter. Not when he was disguised as someone else, not when he was pretending to give an act, but the real him.
A cold-blooded monster.
