Captured By The Cold Detective (BL) - Chapter 218: Roger, Boss ><
He Juan’s jaws were clenched tight as he formulated plans in his head. First, he had to grab his car keys and go to check on Jia Molei himself. He could no longer wait until Jia Molei came to him. It was time to learn about his forgotten past, no matter how horrible and disgusting it might be. It was time to learn who he once was and also the debt he had yet to repay.
But the main problem was... where had he placed his car again? His mind screeched to a halt and decided to draw up a blank.
He Juan halted in his tracks and pressed on his throbbing temple, grimacing. "Not now..." he murmured to himself. "Please don’t cause trouble for me now."
Perhaps his broken brain finally took pity on him, He Juan managed to draw some faint recollection after digging through his memory for a while. The last time he had driven his car was... on his first date. After that, Wu Yuan’s accident occured and they had driven Mu Yuze’s car to the little guy’s house. So if his memory had not failed him, his car ought to be in Mu Yuze’s house right now.
He Juan clenched his fists out of frustration. Mu Yuze and Jia Molei’s house were the complete opposite from Yuyang Hospital Center. If he returned to grab his car, then he would only waste more time on the road. Who knew what could have happened to Jia Molei in the meantime?
So hailing a cab, then.
Making up a decision, He Juan continued to walk down the hallway, not realizing that he had brushed past a man in a wheelchair who was sitting on the balcony, half hidden by the thick billowing curtain. However, it did not mean that the other person did not notice He Juan’s presence.
As soon as He Juan threaded past him, Luo Xuan pushed back his wheelchair and tilted his head, his gaze transfixed on He Juan’s back until the Alpha turned in a corner and disappeared. His honey brown eyes were glittering in what seemed like thrill and anticipation, pale lips curving into a faint smile. Turning to his phone in his hands, he opened the one and only chat box and sent a message to the other person.
[He’s on his way.]
A reply came in less than five seconds. [Roger, Boss! ><]
At the same time, Ku Jin was grinning from ear to ear as he sent out that message. He raised his head, let the cool spring breeze ruffle his hair and took a deep inhale, smiling, "Hmm, the air is so fresh here! I like it so much!" He stared at the distance where the resplendent city lights twinkled akin to a sea of glittering stars, far and removed from the simplicity of countryside.
Along the stretch of the desolate road, the Black Buick was akin to a hibernating beast, the color merging with the darkness. On both sides were fields of wheats and rice as far as one could see. The air was crisp and clear, especially at night where the temperature would drop below twenty degrees Celsius.
Alas, no matter how long Ku Jin immersed himself in this tranquility, he was still unable to tamper down the grin on his face. His whole body was buzzing with frenetic energy with nowhere to spend. He was so excited that he could run around the field twice and still laughed out loud along the way. In the end, he chose not to do it, not only because he did not want to be taken as a lunatic and chased out by the people with pitchforks, he also needed to save energy for what was to come.
A lot, lot of energy.
A particularly cold gust caressed his skin and caused him to shudder. Rubbing his hands together, Ku Jin finally conceded and slipped into the driver seat, relishing the warmth from the blasting heater. He grinned at Jia Molei beside him. "What did you say earlier? There’s someone who can catch me now? Well, I have given them a chance. Let’s see if they can do it, hmm?"
He got no answer. Of course, because Jia Molei was slumped on his seat, unconscious.
Ku Jin did not care though. He reached out to caress Jia Molei’s pale cheek and chuckled. "Soon. Very soon... everything will fall into place. I am sharing my favorite seat with you, Molei. What do you think of it?" He curled his fingers and gently brushed his knuckles against Jia Molei’s lashes, giggling when the man’s brows creased slightly as if disturbed. "Well, it doesn’t matter if you don’t understand where I’m coming from. After all, the show is finally going to reach its climax..."
"In the meantime, let me take you for a spin, okay?" After saying this, he pulled down the handbrake, shifted the gearstick, and drove the Buick in a steady and leisure pace as if he had not just set the entire Yuyang City Bureau aflame.

By the time He Juan managed to shake off the nurses in the VIP ward and convinced them that no, he was not going to run away and yes, he would return soon – albeit he had no idea how soon it would be – and he would only be going out to take care of some extremely urgent matters, it was already more than ten minutes.
Fortunately, Doctor Tang was currently in the middle of examining a young patient who encountered a problem during their manifestation and had no time to intercept He Juan, otherwise there was no way He Juan would be able to make his way out so easily like this. Unfortunately though, the timing he chose was just right at dinnertime. Either the cab was already reserved before, or the driver had gone on a short break, leaving a brief note on their window that they would return soon.
He Juan could actually wait because he was certain that it would take five to ten minutes at most, but right now, he was so anxious over Jia Molei’s whereabouts that each passing second seemed to stretch like forever. He had already wasted so much time inside the hospital just now, how could he still afford to wait?!
Thus, he started to jog out of the hospital, his eyes darting around in lookout for any potential empty cabs.
His eyes lit up when he found one. It might be an illegal cab for all he cared, he immediately stretched his arm out and waved to stop the car.
Indeed, a car braked right in front of He Juan, but it was not the cab he had been eyeing.
The window to the shotgun seat rolled down and Kang Guanyu’s face appeared in front of him. "Mr. He!" He called out enthusiastically. "Where are you going? Why aren’t you staying in the hospital with Mu Yuze?"
He was not alone. Sitting on the driver’s seat was another man whom He Juan had never seen before. His features were sharp and attractive with a hint of aggression found only in Alphas, and he had his mid-length hair tied in a low ponytail. He leaned forward and offered He Juan a friendly wave, "This is Mr. He? I have been hearing so much about you. Nice to meet you, I am Tak Jung-Hwa."
