Captain Xavier, Your Wife Has Signed the Divorce Papers
Chapter 100: You Still Dare to Come?
Wren Wynter walked in and saw Kaden Xavier sitting behind his desk, holding a document.
Besides him, there was another person in the office.
Nathaniel Quinn.
Upon seeing Wren walk in, Nathaniel’s expression instantly darkened.
He shot to his feet and pointed at Wren. "You have the nerve to show your face?!"
Kaden frowned. "Nathaniel, sit down."
"Cole! She’s the one who made Seraphina have a miscarriage! How could you let her come to the company?!" Nathaniel’s voice was filled with rage and disbelief. "How can you let her off so easily?!"
Wren looked at Nathaniel calmly. "I’ve said it before, I didn’t push Seraphina Sutton. If you don’t believe me, you can check the security footage or call the police. But if you slander me again, I won’t hesitate to sue you for defamation."
"Besides, Seraphina Sutton’s pregnancy was already unstable. Whether she miscarried or not has little to do with me." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"You—" Livid, Nathaniel lunged forward as if to strike her.
Kaden immediately stood up, blocking Wren. "Nathaniel! Calm down!"
"How can I calm down?!" Nathaniel roared. "Cole, that was Seraphina’s child! It’s gone now, don’t you feel any pain at all?!"
"I said I’ll handle it." Kaden’s voice turned cold. "This is between her and me. It’s not your place to interfere."
Nathaniel looked at Kaden’s determined expression, then at Wren’s calm face, and finally sat back down, resentful.
But the look he gave Wren was still full of displeasure.
Kaden turned to Wren and handed her a document. "This is the property transfer agreement and the asset division agreement. Take a look. If there are no issues, you can sign it."
Wren took the document and looked it over carefully.
It was a very substantial amount of assets.
Wren signed her name on the agreement.
Kaden signed another copy and then handed her a duplicate.
"I’ll give the original to the lawyer to handle. You keep this one," Kaden said. "As for the other procedures, we’ll take care of them after the cooling-off period."
Wren nodded, put the document away, and turned to leave.
"Wren," Kaden suddenly called out to her.
Wren stopped but didn’t turn around.
"You... don’t you have anything to say to me?" There was a hint of almost imperceptible hope in Kaden’s voice.
Wren was silent for a long time before finally shaking her head. "No."
With that, she pushed the door open and left the office.
Inside, Kaden remained motionless for a long time.
’Now that the agreement is signed, the final step is complete, and she still doesn’t have a single word to say to me.’
Nathaniel watched her back disappear and couldn’t help but say to Kaden, "Cole, you’re just letting her walk away like that? Seraphina is still lying in the hospital. Aren’t you going to consider her at all?"
Kaden sat back in his chair, closed his eyes, and said wearily, "Nathaniel, you don’t understand."
"No, I don’t!" Nathaniel said, agitated. "I don’t understand why you’re so lenient with Wren Wynter! She killed Seraphina’s child, and you’re just letting her off the hook?!"
Kaden opened his eyes and looked at Nathaniel. "Nathaniel, are you sure it was Wren who pushed Seraphina Sutton?"
Nathaniel was taken aback. "Of course I’m sure! Seraphina said so herself!"
"Did you see it with your own eyes?" Kaden asked.
"I..." Nathaniel was at a loss for words. "I may not have seen it myself, but Seraphina wouldn’t lie! She loved that child so much, how could she have fallen on her own?!"
Kaden gave a bitter smile. ’Yes, she wouldn’t lie...’
"Nathaniel, I’ll say it again. You don’t need to get involved in this matter."
Just as Nathaniel was about to say more, Kaden’s phone suddenly rang.
He glanced at the caller ID. It was Helen Sawyer.
"Mom, what is it?" Kaden answered the phone.
Helen’s anxious voice came from the other end. "Kaden, come back quickly! Something’s happened to your grandmother!"
Kaden’s heart sank. "What’s wrong with Grandma?"
"She heard about you and Wren Wynter getting a divorce and fainted from anger!" Helen’s voice was tinged with tears. "She’s being taken to the hospital now. Get over here, quick!"
Helen’s voice nearly broke. "Get over here! Grandma’s condition is very bad!"
Kaden hung up, grabbed his car keys, and rushed out.
Nathaniel followed him. "Cole, I’ll go with you!"
They ran three red lights and got to the hospital in less than twenty minutes.
Outside the emergency room, Helen Sawyer and Lana Xavier were waiting anxiously. Lana’s eyes were swollen from crying.
"Brother!" Seeing Kaden, Lana immediately rushed over to him. "Grandma... Grandma, she..."
"What did the doctor say?" Kaden’s voice trembled slightly.
Just as he finished speaking, the operating room door opened, and a doctor in scrubs came out.
Kaden recognized him. It was Ho-ran Park.
Ho-ran Park took off his mask, his expression grave. "Mr. Xavier, Old Madam Xavier’s condition is not optimistic."
Kaden’s heart leaped into his throat. "What does that mean?"
Ho-ran Park said, "We are doing everything we can to save her right now, but..."
"But what?" Kaden asked urgently.
"But with our hospital’s current technology and equipment, the success rate for saving Old Madam Xavier is very low," Ho-ran Park said bluntly. "The only hope now is to transfer her."
"Transfer? Transfer where?" Helen Sawyer cut in.
Ho-ran Park looked at Kaden. "To The Capital First Hospital, where Wren Wynter works."
"Wren Wynter?" Helen’s voice shot up. "Are you kidding me?! She’s an airline doctor, how can she perform heart surgery?! You’re gambling with my mother-in-law’s life!"
Lana chimed in, "Exactly! What makes you think Wren can save Grandma?"
He turned to Kaden. "Mr. Xavier, this is no time to hesitate. Old Madam Xavier’s condition becomes more critical with every passing minute. If you want to save her, you need to make a decision quickly."
Kaden stood there, his mind a chaotic mess.
"Brother! Don’t listen to him!" Lana grabbed Kaden’s arm. "That vixen Wren is probably hoping something happens to Grandma! Why would she ever save her?!"
Helen also said, "Kaden, let’s find another hospital, another doctor! We can’t entrust Grandma to Wren Wynter!"
Kaden ignored them. He looked at Ho-ran Park. "If we transfer her, how great are the risks during transport?"
"The risks are very high," Ho-ran Park said frankly. "Old Madam Xavier’s condition is extremely unstable right now. Complications could arise at any moment during the transfer. But if we don’t transfer her, if she stays here, the chances of success are almost zero."
’Almost zero...’
The two words struck Kaden’s heart like a heavy hammer.
Kaden closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and when he opened them again, he said, "Transfer her."
"Kaden!" Helen shrieked. "Have you lost your mind?!"
"Brother!" Lana was also frantic. "How could you..."
Ho-ran Park looked at them calmly. "Mrs. Xavier, Miss Xavier, I am speaking the truth. In the entire Capital, the only doctor capable of performing such a difficult surgery is her."
