Chapter 35: Let’s kill each other some other day. Part-2.
Seeing the people in the comment section call him the scumbag, Zephyr didn’t know whether to laugh or cry about it.
It was certainly not his intention to harm her; she came to attack him on her own and got injured because of her actions!
He was not in the wrong at all! It was her mistake, and yet people were blaming him for it.
’Ugh, the beauty privilege is indeed real; no matter how many bad things you do, people still take the side of the one who’s prettier... tch.’
After being stuck in a dilemma for a long time, Zephyr took a deep breath and decided to change his strategy.
He glanced at Xinran, who was still glaring at him, and spoke.
"Look, it was you who attacked me first and got injured out of your own mistakes."
"Right now, I can’t defeat you, and you can’t kill me either. We both tried to kill each other in that fight; the punch I landed on your chin was meant to kill you and you trying to bite me was also meant to kill..."
"We both can’t kill each other, so let’s put our differences away for now and go our own way."
Zephyr tried his best to talk in a calm voice so as not to irritate the other party and not to put himself in a lower position either.
As a person who had grown up in a peaceful society where every human being was a functional adult working in society along with everyone else, Zephyr knew that not all matters needed to be solved with violence alone.
Often times, many issues can be solved with proper communication and mutual understanding on both parties’ sides.
"We can just pretend that we never met each other; I will leave this town once I get some water, and you can either go in a different direction or just stay in this town and not pursue me."
"If we meet again in the future, maybe we can fight again and settle the score."
"Let’s kill each other some other day, but we should put this matter to rest for now, okay?"
Hearing Zephyr’s words, Xinran’s resentment against him slowly died down.
Although she was reluctant to let go of such a tasty-looking meal, she knew that it was pointless to be stubborn right now when she couldn’t even bite him properly.
Thus, with great reluctance, she nodded her head and agreed to put the hostility between them away for the moment.
Seeing her agree, Zephyr took a sigh of relief and praised himself in his mind for being wise.
’It’s a good thing that I didn’t let my bloodlust cloud my head and didn’t do anything irrational.’
’Running away or attacking her right now would have been the worst choice I could have made... thankfully, I prefer peace over mindless violence.’
Once his beating heart calmed down, Zephyr looked at the other party’s face and noticed that blood was still flowing out of her mouth and she was still in a lot of pain.
Her pretty face was now covered in tears and blood, making her look pitiful.
"Errr... I have cotton... if you want to put it over your wound, you can have it..."
Hearing Zephyr’s words, Xinran narrowed her eyes but then reluctantly agreed.
"I think I dropped it back in the hut where I was cooking food; I will go and fetch it..."
While patting away the dust from his clothes, Zephyr stood up and started leaving.
After watching Zephyr’s figure disappear into the distance, Xinran hurriedly brought out a ring from a hidden pocket of her dress and used her mana to activate it.
A flask containing a dark red potion appeared from the ring magically.
Without wasting time, Xinran drank the potion; her pale complexion became rosy again as she recovered from the blood loss that she had suffered from the injury.
But to her dismay, her teeth still didn’t recover properly and only barely stopped bleeding.
’Sigh... Low-grade blood potions are really not as effective anymore... to think a day would come when I would be injured because of someone who hasn’t even awakened his mana yet...’
Yan Xinran was, without a doubt, one of the strongest people in the entire Jauregia Empire.
She was strong enough to slaughter entire armies with a mere flick of her fingers, but just like every other vampire, her teeth were her weakness.
Although mana control and ascension in life level brought by mana did make her body stronger, her two vampire teeth still remained much weaker than the rest of the body.
’I can even pierce the solid defenses of those heavily armored monsters with my teeth, and yet... I couldn’t pierce a mere human’s skin? This is simply ridiculous!’
Xinran had never suffered the pain of having her teeth broken, as she had never found anything too difficult to bite and puncture with her teeth.
Only Zephyr’s skin was the first to cause her to suffer!
’What is his skin even made of? N*kia!?’
What Xinran didn’t know was that the main reason why she suffered like that was because Zephyr Reid’s ’Indestructible Body’ had a special trait called ’Critical-Hit Damage Immunity’!
Due to this trait, Zephyr Reid’s body was immune to any ’critical-hit’ attacks that could kill him in a single blow!
And unfortunately for Xinran, her bite attack that was meant to kill him from inside out was considered a ’critical-hit attack’ by Zephyr’s body!
In other words, unless she suppressed her bloodlust and abandoned the thought of killing him, she was never going to be able to bite into Zephyr’s skin! 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Unless, of course, Zephyr Reid himself allowed her to kill him obediently and surrendered to her, but that was never going to happen. Thus, no matter how many schemes she tried to make, it would be pointless.
"Here, you can have this tissue paper I found yesterday too..."
While Xinran was lamenting about her injuries in her mind, Zephyr came back after fetching cotton, tissue papers, and a lot of wood.
After giving the cotton and tissue papers to Xinran, he put the wood down and started making a bonfire.
"You interrupted my meal earlier; the meat that I was cooking all got dirty, and I don’t even have water to clean it. I will have to cook a new one again... ugh..."
