Chapter 1016: A Match Against Ezekiel
"Welcome." Ezekiel extended his hand.
"Thank you, sir." Clovis smiled while shaking his hand.
"No need to be polite anymore. You should start calling me grandfather by now." Ezekiel chuckled.
Clovis smiled wryly.
"You are much stiffer than your grandfather. I know, I know. The wedding comes first." Ezekiel chuckled. "Please come in. We have prepared a lot of things for you."
Clovis had brought a lot of people. Surprisingly, even Hana actually joined them.
A few people from the Havenson family and the Renvolt family definitely wanted to see the famous Guardian as well as the family known for their defense.
That was why they tagged along. Of course, it was still a vacation.
"Grandfather." Christina politely bowed before hugging him. "I'm back."
"Welcome home." Ezekiel smiled. "It looks like our Clovis is not doing anything bad to you. No, are you gaining weight?"
"Who says that?" Christina pouted.
"Hahaha. I'm kidding. Anyway, please come in."
Ezekiel asked the people around to guide them to their rooms. This place was indeed a good destination for a vacation. The warm summer and the soothing beach could definitely relieve their fatigue.
As expected, Clovis was called to Ezekiel's room.
"It looks like you have a lot of things to explain." Ezekiel smiled.
Christina shook her head helplessly. "Grandfather. We are going to be here for a week. Can't you just postpone this kind of discussion for a day?"
"Look at you. You haven't even married him, and now you're already standing up for him." Ezekiel sighed. "Before, you were even asking who the hell Clovis was and why you should get engaged to him."
"Grandfather!" Christina shouted embarrassedly.
Clovis chuckled. "It's fine. We should discuss this matter first. This way, we don't have to handle all this stuff in the middle of the vacation."
"The grandson-in-law understands me more." Ezekiel smiled.
Lues had been observing the conversation from the beginning. He wondered how Ezekiel was going to navigate the discussion.
Surprisingly, Clovis would be the first to begin the discussion. "First of all, I'm thankful that you're allowing us to be here, Sir Ezekiel, Sir Lues. Of course, I understand how it looks in the outside world.
"That's why I've prepared a little gift. I've brought my paintings, so your people can take a look at this. I'm sure it will benefit the Elseingarde family a lot.
"It's not much, but please accept it."
"Why not just give us a painting or two?" Ezekiel smirked.
"Grandfather? Isn't that too much?" Christina couldn't stay quiet. One painting was sold for hundreds of billions. It was simply too much to ask for a present.
Clovis smiled calmly before replying, "I will. This is also my plan. You tell me I'm a stiff person. I can't really argue with that, but it doesn't mean I'm playing with your daughter's feelings.
"I really love Christina and do intend to marry her, even though it's not now. As such, during this vacation, I would like to take advantage of knowing the condition of the Elseingarde family.
"By knowing which painting will be more suitable for the Elseingarde family, I will know which painting I should present as the bride price.
"I hope it is enough to satisfy you. Please allow me to marry your granddaughter." Clovis lowered his head.
Christina covered her mouth in surprise.
Lues didn't expect the conversation to go in this direction. Rather than giving a random painting, it was indeed more beneficial for their family to get the painting that would be most suitable for them.
In that case, they had to send their elites first to see which paintings helped more people.
Ezekiel smiled. "Look at him, Lues. It looks like I need to show off the dowry I have prepared all this time."
Lues scratched the back of his head.
Clovis smiled. "Well, I believe this is a talk for another time."
"That is true. Besides, I will finalize the talk about marriage with your parents and grandfather directly." Ezekiel waved his hand. "But it looks like there is a hidden reason for your arrival, grandson-in-law."
Clovis nodded with a serious expression. "Indeed. The vacation is a good reason. Having other people observe the training of your Elseingarde family will be excellent. However, I do have another motive for coming here."
"Interesting. What is it?" Ezekiel's expression turned solemn. Christina was startled. This was the first time she had heard any of this.
Clovis took a deep breath before asking, "Could you spare a bit of your time and have a serious sparring match against the Libation Fiesta?" π³ππ²ππ πππ»πΌπ§π²π₯.πππ¦
"!!!" Lues widened his eyes in shock.
Even Ezekiel grinned with excitement. He truly didn't expect this request.
Christina, however, understood the reasoning behind this request. Clovis wanted to fight Mara. Only by defeating her would Mara join the group.
However, they didn't know how strong a Tier 9 human was. So, they needed someone as an example.
In the people's eyes, Michael Hacfield was seriously injured after his battle against the Prophet.
If he challenged Michael, people would realize Michael had fully healed. It would just blow up their plan against the Prophet.
As such, the only person that could help him with the comparison was Ezekiel.
That was why he proposed a vacation in the Elseingarde family instead of any other place.
He wanted this sparring match.
"I have to say. I'm impressed by your boldness. No, should I say you're even crazier than your grandfather despite not looking like a madman?" Ezekiel paused for a moment. "Sure. I can agree to the sparring match, but only on one condition."
"What is the condition?" Clovis was ready to fulfill any conditions as long as they were reasonable.
"I feel like you are chasing something. What are you chasing this time? The fight with me⦠Is it because you want to know the Prophet's strength?"
Clovis thought the condition would be hard. It turned out to be just this question.
With a smile on his face, Clovis answered, "Mara Leverstrike. She has promised to join my group if the Libation Fiesta is able to defeat her."
"!!!"
Clovis' words were like thunder reverberating in their ears.
"Hahahahahahaha!" Ezekiel laughed out loud. "It's official. You are now crazier than that madman!"
