The call did not connect instantly or the next three rings.

It took five calls before Guiying answered and he was pissed.

"Why the hell are you calling me by this time? Don’t you have work?"

-_-

Liuxian chuckled, it seems he had woken someone from their beauty sleep.

"I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were asleep.."

Guiying huffed "Well, now I’m not. So why did you call me? Need money? I got none, I can’t cook and I’m bad at chores.."

-_-

Liuxian laughed, well that’s one way of telling him he was lazy.

"That’s now why I called you. I don’t need your money, I don’t need you to do chores I’m rich, that’s why there’s cleaners, but it’s a morning ritual to make your bed when you wake up so you gotta do that yourself and cooking...mhm, I sure would love to taste your food one day."

Guiying yawned and sat up, he checked the time.

Just a few minutes past 12.

No wonder he had the time to call him.

"Anyways, here’s why I called. Are you home yet? Did your friend get settled?"

"Yeah, I’m home I was catching some Z’s before you rudely interrupted me and Limo is fine....I think."

Liuxian nodded, he was finally home so he had nothing to worry about.

As for Yang Limo, he’d decide his fate after he met with his father. Yang Jiangming.

"Alright. I’ll get out for your hair. I’ll be home late, don’t wait up."

"I got it, you’ve only said that like thirty million times. I’ve heard you, I’ll eat dinner without you.."

Liuxian smiled and ended the call, there was no need for him to say goodbye.

He would be returning home.

Around 12:30pm, Zhang Wei appeared, holding takeout bags.

"Here’s food. You’ve got a short meeting with the finance department at 1, then there’ll be a fresh set of documents on your desk for you to sign by the time you’re done. If you’re fast enough, you’ll have some seconds to relax then you have a meeting with chairman Yang by 4pm and then finally your dinner with Dia An at 7pm. I don’t know why you told him you’d miss dinner, what else are you doing?"

-_-

"Do I need to tell you that? If you’re so jobless I can give you more work."

Zhang Wei smiled nervously and bowed. "Ah, do I hear my phone ringing? Must be my mum, enjoy your lunch sir." And with that, at the mention of extra work, Zhang Wei had bolted out of the office.

There was no faster way to make Zhang Wei disappear than extra work.

The rest of the afternoon dragged on until it was time for the meeting with Chairman Yang.

"I’ll drive you there boss. Shall we?"

Liuxian nodded and they took their spots in the private elevator.

Chairman Yang was fairly easy going, as long as the offer was good, Liuxian was ready to invest.

"Are there any significant artists signed on Yang Entertainment?"

Zhang Wei nodded "All the bigshots are signed on Yang Entertainment, they have a long list of A-listers..."

Liuxian nodded "Good. Moying needs the competition.."

Zhang Wei only nodded.

The drive to XG hotel was pleasant.

Zhang Wei had a soft tune playing and Liuxian could finally relax a little.

"Have there been any drawbacks?"

Zhang Wei looked at him through the rearview mirror.

"Yes. Which is normal, but it’s nothing alarming and was quickly resolved.."

Liuxian nodded, that was good to hear. He wanted Moying to work in a semi comfortable environment.

He tend to break into hives when he was overworked.

The meeting was on the top floor and chairman Yang had already arrived.

His assistant bowed and let them through the room.

Chairman Yang Jianming was a man in his late fifties who had built his company from a single recording studio in a rented building twenty years ago and had the particular energy of someone who had never forgotten what that felt like.

He was warm, direct, and had the specific confidence that came from having earned everything he had without shortcuts.

He stood when Liuxian entered the meeting room and extended his hand.

"President Liu. Thank you for making the time."

"Chairman Yang." Liuxian shook it.

"Please sit."

They sat.

Tea was poured.

The pleasantries were brief, both of them the kind of men who understood that pleasantries were a courtesy and not a purpose.

Then Chairman Yang smiled.

"I’ll be direct," he said. "My son returned to China this morning. He’ll be taking over his role at Yang Entertainment gradually over the next year. I’d like to formally introduce him to you and, if you’re open to it, discuss the possibility of Liu Corporation coming on as an investment partner."

Liuxian nodded. "I see. Tell me about the company’s five year projection."

Chairman Yang told him.

Liuxian listened with the focused attention he brought to things that interested him and asked four questions, each one specific enough to tell the chairman that he had done considerably more than a surface read of the available information. By the end of the hour the outline of an investment agreement had taken shape, not finalized, not signed, but present and solid in the way of things that were going to happen.

As they stood to leave Chairman Yang looked at him.

"I look forward to introducing Limo to you properly," he said. "He’s a good kid. Bit dramatic, but good."

"I look forward to it," Liuxian said.

They shook hands.

"If you want to sign your partner as well, there’s always a spot for him."

Liuxian smiled slightly "I’ll be sure to tell him."

Chairman Yang nodded and beaconed to his assistant to follow him.

"He’s the quite the man.." Zhang Wei said, when they were alone.

"He’s different. Chairman Yang is the kind of person you naturally want to get close to. And I can see the same similarities in his son. I do hope he carried his father brains or Yang Entertainment will be heading towards ruins."
