After Divorce, She Became a Global Sensation and Won't Forgive Her Groveling Husband and Son
Chapter 79: Once a Treasure, Now Trash
"That Vincent Grant, he still hasn’t given up. He sent three emails yesterday alone, and another one first thing this morning."
Levin Sawyer was utterly disdainful of Vincent Grant’s scummy behavior, and as a result, he found everything the man did repulsive.
Still, he had to admit Vincent Grant was impressive.
Sophia Shaw had already deleted her previous email account, yet he had still managed to track down her new one through the faintest of clues.
"Don’t worry, I’m the one who registered this account for you. They won’t be able to trace your real identity."
That’s what Levin Sawyer said, but inwardly, he was dying to see the look on Vincent Grant’s face when he discovered that Clover was actually Sophia Shaw.
’The wife he’d never bothered to give a second glance was actually the savior he’d been dreaming of finding. Would Vincent Grant be sick with regret, or so ashamed he’d want to dig a hole and bury himself?’
Sophia Shaw just wanted to focus on her work. Vincent Grant’s feelings were irrelevant to her.
She’d rather run more experiments and advance her projects than waste time watching him wallow in regret.
"I’m going to interview the new candidate."
After Sophia Shaw left, Levin Sawyer suddenly remembered who the interviewee was. He wanted to stop her, but she had already disappeared behind the interview room door.
"Why... is it you?"
Seeing Jenson Forrest, Sophia Shaw thought for a moment that she’d walked into the wrong room.
After a moment, she pulled out a chair and asked lightly, "Surely Young Master Forrest isn’t here just for the ’life experience’?"
Jenson Forrest was also stunned to see Sophia Shaw.
"You’re... the chief engineer of Lead Aerospace?"
Sophia Shaw sat down. The teardrop mole on her gentle, graceful face seemed to shift as she moved. She didn’t answer Jenson Forrest’s question.
Jenson Forrest, who had clearly seen his share of the world, quickly masked his surprise and seriously answered Sophia’s earlier question. "I’ve always had immense respect for Lead Aerospace and would cherish the opportunity to work alongside such brilliant people."
"I’ve already handed over management of my company to someone else, so I can fully commit to this role. This isn’t some ’life experience’ for me, and I have no intention of quitting casually."
Although Jenson Forrest had founded his own company, he primarily worked for his family’s conglomerate.
He was destined to inherit the family enterprise, so he needed to build more connections and gain more work experience.
Joining Lead Aerospace was an excellent choice.
Sophia Shaw gave a slight nod.
"I’ve heard about your work ethic, Young Master Forrest, and I am very impressed."
"I’m even more impressed by your drive to constantly improve."
"And your qualifications do, in fact, meet our company’s requirements."
The more Jenson Forrest listened, the clearer the situation became. He gave a wry smile. "Even with all of those positive points, you don’t intend to hire me, do you?"
"I’m sorry."
"Is it only because of my relationship with Vincent and Joanna?"
Sophia Shaw was silent for a moment before lifting her gaze. "That’s the main reason."
’Whether it was because of her history with Vincent Grant and Joanna Sherman, or because Zenith and Lead Aerospace were competing rocket companies, Jenson Forrest was Vincent’s friend. He was a conflict of interest, and for that reason, Sophia couldn’t accept him.’
Jenson Forrest nodded in resignation. "Thank you for your honesty."
Jenson Forrest didn’t rush to leave. He took a small chain out of his pocket. "Is... is this yours? The other day, Lil said it got caught on her clothes, and she asked me to ask you."
Sophia Shaw looked down at his palm.
A light green, crystalline clover charm dangled from the small chain.
Just like Vincent in his teens.
After he fought off her bullies, he had taken the bracelet from his own wrist in front of everyone and placed it on hers.
Then he’d loudly declared, "Now that she’s wearing my bracelet, she’s mine. If anyone dares to bully her again, they’ll have to go through me!"
It was a simple bracelet, but she had treasured it and worn it for years.
"It’s mine." Sophia took it, and on her way out, she casually tossed it into the trash.
’Her former protector had become the one who hurt her. There was no longer any reason to keep his things.’
Jenson Forrest saw what she did, and an eyebrow shot up.
Sophia Shaw personally walked Jenson Forrest to his car. "President Forrest, even though we can’t be colleagues, I must still thank you for saving my life."
’She had to keep things separate.’
"If there’s anything I can do, I will give it my all."
Jenson Forrest’s eyes lit up. "Actually, there is one thing I’d like to ask of you. Lil is about to take her college entrance exams and is looking for a tutor."
"After talking with you last time, she was so impressed by how knowledgeable you are. She’s begged me several times to ask if you would tutor her."
"I know you’re busy, and I’ve already told her no, but she’s a sensitive girl and doesn’t open up to just any teacher."
Jenson Forrest rubbed his temples. Whenever he spoke of Lillian Forrest, his eyes filled with a mixture of love and compassion.
"Her fundamentals aren’t bad. If you could spare just two hours a week, I would be incredibly grateful."
Tutoring a high school student wasn’t a difficult task for Sophia Shaw.
Sophia Shaw also wanted to repay her debt to Jenson Forrest sooner rather than later, so she nodded. "I can do that."
"That’s wonderful. Thank you."
Jenson Forrest hadn’t wanted to leverage the fact that he’d saved her life, but he was delighted that Sophia Shaw had agreed.
"Lil will be so happy to hear you’ve agreed."
They quickly set a time for the tutoring sessions, deciding on Friday evenings each week.
「Friday. Evening.」
"I hear you went to interview at Lead Aerospace?"
In the private room, Joanna Sherman sat beside Vincent Grant, looking at Jenson Forrest across from them with great interest.
Jenson Forrest was fiddling with his glass, seemingly lost in thought. When he heard Joanna Sherman’s question, he just gave a slight nod and an "mm."
"Jenson, seriously? Why on earth would you suddenly decide to interview at Lead Aerospace?" Justin Hughes asked, tapping his glass, completely baffled by Jenson Forrest’s behavior.
"To gain some experience. See the world, learn a few things."
Jenson Forrest answered in all seriousness.
Justin Hughes couldn’t comprehend Jenson’s world. "The company’s going to be yours eventually anyway, so why kill yourself working so hard?"
"Our dear Jenson doesn’t just want to inherit the company, he wants to build on it and take the Forrest Group to even greater heights," Joanna Sherman chimed in.
In their circle, both Vincent Grant and Jenson Forrest had their own unique strengths, and Joanna Sherman admired them both.
Sharon Sherman was also there tonight.
Sharon Sherman had lost a lot of face after being thrown out by Vincent Grant last time.
But ultimately, her desire to be part of this circle was too strong to resist, and she had begged Joanna Sherman to bring her along.
Hearing everyone mention Lead Aerospace, she quickly asked Jenson Forrest, "Did you see Sophia Shaw? What’s she doing there?" 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Sharon Sherman didn’t bring up Sophia Shaw out of concern, of course.
It was purely out of a sense of schadenfreude, hoping to hear that Sophia was doing poorly.
"I saw her."
Jenson Forrest didn’t say what she did there. Instead, he turned to look at Vincent. "Vincent, you used to always wear a bracelet with a clover charm. How come you stopped?"
Vincent glanced at his wrist, pressing his lips together in silence.
’His mind, however, conjured the image of a teenage Sophia Shaw, beaten to the ground as bullies demanded she surrender.’
’Her face was full of defiance. No matter how they kicked or hit her, she refused to give in.’
’Back then, he’d admired her spirit. In a moment of compassion, he’d given her the bracelet as a good luck charm.’
’It was a shame that everything she did afterward left such a bad taste in his mouth.’
"That was years ago. Vincent probably threw it away," Justin Hughes said thoughtlessly.
A strange look flickered in Joanna Sherman’s eyes as they briefly fell upon Vincent’s wrist.
She quickly changed the subject. "Jenson, when you were at Lead Aerospace, did you see anyone who joined recently?"
"Vincent found out that Clover has likely joined Lead Aerospace."
